Received permit today, 8/27

If I purchase a pistol with these magazine rounds for example would it be possible to just ask them to throw away the 15rd magazine and how would I prove to NYPD I only have the compliant magazine if I purchase this pistol? Don’t want to lose my license so want to be sure

For those unfamiliar, New York City does not offer reciprocity. However, Utah provides an application process for individuals whose state lacks a reciprocal agreement. I recently completed this process, and it is not necessary to possess a permit from your home state. Nevertheless, it is important to note that New York City has recently implemented a policy that may alter this requirement. The process was seamless I mailed my packet on 07/01/2024 and received my non resident permit 08/27/2024

A friend misplaced his purchase authorization letter, is there a PDF online or does he need the exact one that was mailed to him?

Shopping around for a pistol safe case, would prefer to not have an electronic one but want something with an integrated locking mechanism. Open to electronic if you guys have good reviews on them.

I'm getting mixed feed back from shops and people online. I have a Fightlite scr-16 and when I bought it the shop owner told me you can only use the 5rnd mags. I'm seeing online that 10rd mags are legal in NYC.....which is it??? Legal or not ???

Looking for someone to share investigator Seymour info with me as it’s been over 10 months no approval. I am finally taking action now; called 1pp and they gave me my investigator name. Now I just need their info.

I’m active duty military stationed in NYC about to apply for my ccw. Looking at the exemptions to the Restrictions, one of them simply states “Active-duty military personnel”.

I assume this only applies to those who are required to use firearms to perform their current duties?

Am i also correct in assuming that when not in uniform performing those duties, we are not exempt from this rule?

Thinking about buying land for the mere purpose of target shooting and ur occasionally camping where and how much acreage would u guys recommend any input would be appreciated

Now CCW has removed the restriction of purchasing only 2 handguns, which is basically the same as NYC Pistol permit. Is it possible that the two licenses will be directly merged into CCW in the future?

Is it possible that in the future, only CCW class can be upgraded to CCW directly, and there will be no Pistol permit in the future?

After trying to do some digging I feel more confused than when I started to look. If someone in your household has a medical marijuana card can you have a pistol permit? If anyone has information on it can they link it below please?

So on top of all the other unconstitutional stuff NYS is doing now that they know they can’t stop people from having CCWs. Their only alternative is to now ignore your email of Proof of Purchase of your new pistol and drag out their response if you live in NYC. Mind you they require we send in proof of purchase 72 hours after purchase by NYPDs standards to them or else we get in trouble 😑. Yet they can take up to 3 weeks to even respond to your email of acknowledgment of the purchase for the new ID to even be sent to your home. Dragging out you getting a pistol from 20 to 30 days cause you’re waiting for permission to pick something you already paid for in the FFL 😑……..I’m really surprised someone isn’t suing the NYPD over this b/c they are dragging it out now on purpose. They keep using the excuse they are backed up but no way it takes 3 weeks to answer an email telling a CCW holder we got your stuff and your ID is in the mail 😑

Just a year ago I would get an email response 48 hours later the latest and a week and a half later license was at my door the latest. They have even made mistakes on my license that they’ve had to correct and I bring it to their attention and they send out next day I got the license. Last pistol I bought had to wait 22 days for a license to get to my home after purchase. Now just made a new purchase and it’s 2 weeks not even a response via email they give zero F’s. I hope NYPD gets sued over this big time and lose money for the department it’s not right!

Cop friend told me to stop carrying my full size handgun there because it prints very obviously and to just pocket carry a Ruger LCP Max or something subcompact like a CR920P.

I have finally finished my course and now need to write the judge a letter about why I want/need the restrictions removed, and go through an interview. Can someone tell me some things to point out in the letter? I was told to sum up my life, state why I want it, and why I should have it... No idea how long it should be, what to include, how detailed to be. If you are able to share what you did, that would be amazing, and no I will not steal it, just need it for reference. Thanks!

Hi, I'm currently applying for my handgun license and I'd like to hear what you guys think about certain topics.
I'm from Orange County NY by the way.

1. Should I apply for the concealed carry or carry on premise? I have no history of crimes or anything, but this is still my first application so I'm not sure if the state would just outright deny my application for a concealed carry.

2. Should I also check the box for a semi-automatic rifle license too? I don't really plan on buying one any time soon but I figure it wouldn't hurt.

3. For either the concealed carry or carry on premise training, could someone explain that process? I know for concealed you need 18 hours of classes, is it the same for premises? I'd assume it's less classes for the premises license.

4. What was the process like for you guys, applying in New York, or more specifically Orange County? Does the state give everyone a hard time and make it a huge pain in the ass?

Does anyone know the process after the investigator contacts you? He sent me an email asking for my questionnaire I sent it back immediately and never heard anything back from them. I also emailed to see if that’s all I needed and he doesn’t answer. By the way I sent the requested paperwork 8/8/24
