I'm a 23F, dormed for 4 years in undergrad and been living with family in the Bronx for the past year and half. I'm finally ready to take the next step of living on my own. I'm looking to either rent a room OR find a roommate with whom to lease an apartment with. My monthly budget is currently up to $1,100 with utilities included. I don't have a gender preference for who i room with. I'd like to settle in either June or July (mainly to give myself enough time to save up for deposit, first month, etc.)
I'm also very flexible about which NYC borough to live in (except Staten Island lol). However, I would like my family to be accessible via public transport so I'm considering the Bronx, all of Manhattan, north queens, and north Brooklyn. Being in close proximity to the train is key (0-10 min walk). I'd prefer to room with non-smokers + folks that value keeping shared spaces clean/tidied up (having a schedule for cleaning) + having some quiet time at night to wind down.
A bit about myself: I currently work as a research analyst. The job is remote however my company rents out an office at a coworking space so I alternate b/w WFH and in the office. i attend physical therapy 2x a week, play basketball 2x/week, and volleyball 1x/week so i spend a decent amount of time outside the house. On the weekends i like to stay in my room and watch games or explore the city with friends, depends on my social battery loll. i like watching sports games, getting lost in libraries, reading, playing sudoku, listening to r&b/rap/afrobeats, etc.
