This is another example how BC Transit and TransLink have failed to provide proper transit services in all of BC. It is up to the BC government to make legislative changes and mandate that all Regional Districts in BC provide and operate proper transit services by public operators not private operators like PWT from Alberta. The Regional District of Nanaimo has done that since 1969!!

1. BC Transportation-Transit Budget: 2024/25

BC refused to change priorities in Transportation.

Most of the money ( around 90% in the last 20 years ) is being spent on Roads and Highways.

Transit and Active Transportation gets very little funding.

The BC Legislature does not have a standing committee on Transportation like many other Legislatures.

While there is a lot of money earmarked for housing, no extra money is allocated for sustainable transportation to serve the new projects.

Urban sprawl will continue and there will be increased use of cars for personal transportation.

We have around 4 Million cars in BC according to ICBC.

BC Transit got 10.5 % increases in operating and capital but TransLink got nothing ( except more capital money for previously approved SkyTrain extensions )

**1. 48 hours Bus and SeaBus Strike in Metro Vancouver:**Maybe we will copy from Windsor Ontario( ATU 616 ) where both sides are continuing to talk past the strike deadline and there is no disruption to bus service.
The cost to TransLink to increase the wages of 180 supervisors is so small thatthe losses from the two days shutdown will more than cover them.However, TransLink and CMBC do not have common sense and keep wasting our money on vanity projects instead of paying similar wages that the TTC pays in Toronto.Cost of living is higher in Vancouver compared to Toronto but wages here are lower?

For everyone who takes the bus, we could be in for a bit of a mess Monday Jan 22nd, 2024

CUPE 4500 and CMBC are at loggerhead over a new deal. The company says the workers shouldn’t get a 25 percent pay raise. The union says they’re not asking for a 25 percent pay raise.

So, if I understand the situation - and it's fair to say I don't - the two sides can't even agree on what they disagree about.

This may be the worst bus dispute since that dude tried to take up two seats with his backpack during rush hour.

Is silently crying on the bus (or any public transit) the most cathartic way to cry? Share you story!

I’m a big COT (crying on transit) fan but haven’t done so in years. 2023 was a rough year for me and I had some big things happen that basically made me questioning my whole career life. While on the bus home I had a big ol’ cry on the bus and and resolved to change what need to be different.

Anyway, I know I can’t be the only one who is a big fan of COT, and wanted to hear other people’s stories.

Bus Only(currently)

Does anybody know why there isn't a train between Philadelphia & Pittsburgh running right now? There isn't a single one running in the near future at all! I was trying to do some traveling & not a single date was available :(

Policy infrastructure (inspired by 🇩🇰)
