Anyone who's still waiting for the update on there application status?

Hey guys, just wanted to ask if anyone found a internship on their own time (not credit bearing), and came across a internship that was offered but as a freelance role? Here's the story:

I applied for an internship at a MNC doing comms, PR and marketing stuff. (I am a comms/marketing student, think this as smth like CS2058 integrated marketing comm mod and AB1501 marketing). However, after their HR looks at my resume they decided another job was a better fit and hence asked if I was interested and I agreed to interview to the new job they said. 2 Interviews and 1 month+ down the road, I am offered the internship with a salary that I think wasn't bad. (from last interview till offer given was a week's long wait only)

I was then told over a call and the 'offer letter' which was basically a short email, that their internship is a freelance role, basically saying we are freelancers. We will need to invoice the company every month to get our money. However, there is an annual leave given out of good will, which is 1 day per month of service. No clue about medical and hospital leave. Hybrid work mode and you probably only need to enter the office once a week on your team day. Working hours are 9-6.

This is the first time I came across an internship offered, but you are a freelancer which means you kinda are not with the company, but rather you are just providing services to the company (not really working for them legally saying?). I looked up the MOM website and saw that table below at the bottom (all the way down). Well since we are freelancers, we are not a employer-employee relationship technically saying.

This makes the whole thing really dodgy, after I read on glassdoor that some intern was strongly asked for his/her salary to be exempted from CPF. (which i think is the usual cuz interns dont get salary we get allowance?) It seems like this big MNC wasn't planning on providing statutory benefits for interns and you are not covered by the employment act. Which makes it even more unsettling.

If anyone here has ever done an internship as a freelancer, please reach out to me or lemme know because this is absolutely new to my knowledge. And should i take this offer??? Thanks lots guys, if anyone even finish reading this.

Someone says“For undergraduate students, if the total score is less than 50%, all students will fail, and those who pass will be ranked according to the gpa of bell curve.” Is this true？

Hi, I'm an IB student who completed the exams in November 2023, and retook a few subjects in may 2024. My final IB score was 36, including a 7 in business management HL, and I intend to apply to NBS.

What's the likelihood that I get in? Should I do the ABA application in addition to boost my chances?

TLDR: Just a pre-exam rant. Sorry.

Am I the only one who finds this module even harder than MH1804? I had absolutely no background in computing and now I’m suddenly thrown a task of creating a program that edits images, like?????

I thought understanding the lectures and practicing the tutorials were enough but I was dead wrong. Even with my test and project due tomorrow, I can barely get half of the functions up and running because I legitamately do not understand what I am doing wrong. I didn’t want to team up with anyone because I didn’t want to burden a bunch of people I barely knew so now I’m paying the price I guess. The TAs were unable to spoonfeed me too because I’d imagine that constitutes to some kind of academic integrity violation, I get that. I’m probably going to fail the project. And I heard the final test is very difficult too so I’ll probably fail that one too.

Judging from the attitude of most people around me, everyone seems to be coping with this module well so the bell curve will not save me.

God I’ve never felt a stronger urge to toss myself out of my window. I am such a slow learner that I piss everyone off including myself.

Normally, if you took someone‘s parcel is called stealing. But NTU staff can take student’s parcel after 48 hours of delivery without any notice, and it’s legal. First time sending parcel so I didn’t know this. Just kind of shocked to know this.

Just wondering if it is your last sem, and it happens that the Tut mod you want to apply (only one Tut timing) crashes with other mod lec timing (normally fixed). Will the school excuse you on that if u email them.

Hi, I'm a 2nd year AE student from TU Delft looking to do an exchange for a semester. After some research, these 4 courses stood out to me:

LC5001 Chinese Level 1

MA4002 FLUID DYNAMICS

MA4804 Optimization Theory & Applications

MA4705 Aircraft Navigation & Flight Computers

For my final course, these 3 interested me:

MA4814 Computational Fluid Dynamics

PH4411 Introduction to Experimental Particle Physics

MA4704 AEROELASTICITY

Could anyone give me any feedback/advice about these courses or something else? It would be very helpul.

so i'm really worried about the final exam for this subject. it's closed book and i really don't know how im supposed to remember 13 weeks of content, plus journal aritcles. this semester i have been really unwell so i have missed quite a few tuts but i have tried to keep up to date with the content. my class participation mark will be really low because of this and its worth 20%. i am anticipating getting at least 60% on ca2. does anyone have any tips for the final? all i need is a pass.

Any CCDS students who have done URECA or FYP under these profs, could you please let me know how they are in terms of support/supervision? Would appreciate your reviews regarding their overall knowledge, temperament, etc. Thanks!

What are the criteria for retaking courses? If I am not satisfied with my grade, but the school does not require me to retake it, can I retake it?

Under what circumstances can a course GPA be lower than 2.0, such as not taking a midterm, or having a low test score?

Are we supposed to remember all the formulas for exam.. ??

hi there! asking this qns here because i know a lot of hall dwellers might have experience with portable aircons.

i’ve got a brand new Sona 10,000 BTU portable aircon in my single room, which i’ve been using since early August 2024. usually, i turn it on while sleeping (6-7 hours) and sometimes while studying (3-4 hours), and in the past, it would drain about 500ml or less every 5 days.

recently, though, it’s been draining water at an alarming rate of 1 liter in just 4 hours, which is way more than before. i cleaned the filters thoroughly, thinking maybe the extra water was due to dust buildup. but even after cleaning, the water level in my bucket hasn’t decreased.

i’m not sure if this sudden increase could be due to:

• my aircon potentially breaking down
• the rainy November season resulting in increased humidity (is it possible for that much of an increase in water????)
• something else i haven’t considered

if anyone has experienced similar issues or has insights on this, i’d really appreciate any advice.
