I need to cut my hair, it's long, and I want short/medium hair again. I have curly hair, I don't want a fade. I'm too nervous to put a photo, but i want it shorter than my man bun
I think NIU fired their OC - but if they haven’t yet they need to. Running all the time is just not working for us.
Hey! Im gonna be starting school here in the spring and was wondering if anyone wanted to become friends or have any advice for me?
NIU HUSIKIES ARE HEADED TO A BOWL GAME ONCE AGAIN, CONGRATS TO THE NIU HUSKIES
I’ve never been to Dekalb and I am looking for some suggestions on things to do before and/or after the game. We are driving a couple of hours day of. The weather looks kind of chilly so I don’t think we will be tailgating. Any breakfast/lunch spots to check out before? Bars before or after? We are in our mid 30s so we can probably skip any keg parties on campus if that’s something that goes on down here on game day 😂.Any unique Dekalb things to check out or do?
We’re not really a fan of either team, we’re more just fans of college football and wanted to check out a MAC game in person for the first time.
hi! i’m going to niu in the spring and I was wondering what jobs in the area pay good? I’m going to be paying rent so I will need pretty decent pay
I want to be a firefighter EMS, so I need to get EMS certified obviously. Can I do this through NIU? Thank you.
I’m taking the finance core next semester and have been looking at the professor ratings on RMP, I’m nervous about Fina 350 and was wondering if anyone had any advice/ resources they used to help them get an A in the class they could share. Thanks!
hey! i wrestled in high school and im really wanting to get a womens wrestling club started here. does anyone have any tips on starting a club, or want to be a part of it? or know of any female staff who would maybe be interested in sponsoring?
First time signing a lease- it's for a 1 BR at University Plaza—noticed there's no cancellation clause in the terms. Are their contracts typically airtight, or do they entertain negotiations for adjustments? Should I spend time trying to negotiate, or is it a waste of effort?
Also, are there any specific things I should watch out for in their lease agreements? For context, I’ve already emailed student legal assistance but haven’t heard back yet. Would appreciate any insights or tips!
Thanks in advance! 🙏
I was just told by my advisor I need to take this over summer in June. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Do I take it in person/online? How long was it? How can I prepare for it?
Hi! I'm selecting my OMIS classes for next semester and was wondering if anyone has experience with these courses. I'm deciding between OMIS 482 with Biagio Palese or OMIS 462 with Amin Vahedian Khezerlou. Are these classes particularly challenging, or do you have any advice on what to expect?
Hey NIU friends,
I’m a prospective student planning to join NIU for the MIS (MS in Information Systems) program.
My goal is to work at an accounting firm in chicago after finishing my MIS degree, so any advice or info would be super helpful. Thanks!
I took a campus tour today, and my tour guide stated that there was a building full of music studios, and that any student, regardless of their major, could use them for free. Is this true? Did I mishear him? Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated
I just attended orientations today, i’m now considering other options.
I am majoring in elementary education and was told my second semester (transfer student, so start of junior year) i’m expected to do clinicals in an elementary school, teaching lesson planning etc for two half days each week, then next semester two full days, and so on until full time student teaching. I was told at orientation that we can request a “region” but we really shouldn’t worry about that because it shouldn’t matter what school we’re placed in.
The regions are massive for example all of dupage county and all of cook county is one region. From what my advisor said we do not get a say in where in the region we want to be placed meaning that on top of all of my other 14 credit hours i’m expected to take the class with clinicals which could potentially lead to a 2 hour commute each way twice a week and up to a full semester of student teaching.
I’m also already commuting to the school to begin with which is an hour and a half drive for me.
any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. I really wanted to go here but after today I felt like i was blindsided by how much course work is expected (16-17h per semester) and the last straw was really not having a say, besides the region if i get my top pic, in where i will complete student teaching and clinical hours.
Does anyone have a BGS or are they in the program now? I am a transfer student and it seems like this may be my best option… but, it feels like a GED at the college level. Will anyone take it seriously? Thanks.
Hi, so i applied to NIU and they said they can only process my application if they receive my proof of immigration status, is there a way to send an EAD card digitally or do i have to take a picture of the physical one?
Any idea what to do for a date night around here?
Hey guys so I am a senior in highschool about to apply in NIU for MechE... I live about one hour away from campus and so I am heavily considering being a commuter (I did the calculations and I can legit save around 14k)... I know this will sacrifice the "college experience" but Im a filipino first gen soon to be college student and so yeah it sounds nice to be able to experience that but my first priority are the financials... My only concern is the involvement in campus. I want to be able to land a decent job as a entry level engineer and to do that my resume needs to be crisp with involvement in maybe 2 clubs and some internships (I dont even know if this is enough). I want to know if commuting is going to be detrimental to my involvement and in improving my resume throughout my four years in college. Just overall worried; currently overthinking tf outta myself rn with like certain situations like group projects or whatever if ever commuting can hurt me academic wise.
Hey guys, is there anyone willing to trade their BIOS 308 lab section? I have a Thursday section and was really hoping for a Tuesday one.
How is the English MA program here ? I am interested in the Rhetoric and Writing track. What about the funding situation? Do they fund all the MA students?
My partner and I are looking to move out of the place we live at currently because it’s been a nightmare. I moved into a smoke free apartment because I have asthma but it’s been the complete opposite of smoke free. Just constant weed smell through my whole apartment almost everyday of the week and management isn’t helping. I was looking to move into Eco park and wanted to know if anyone experienced the same issue with people smoking inside apartments? Or does anyone else live somewhere where people genuinely don’t smoke inside? Any help is appreciated
Hey guys, 17(m) here and recently got offered an admission at NIU and I’m thinking about accepting but as I looked through the other threads, a lot of people were talking about NIU being boring and with no parties. I have no problem with that but my high school year wasn’t so fun (stayed at home 99% of the time lol) and would like a fresh start with meeting people, enjoying Uni and also learning of course so I just wanted you guy’s thought since you guys are there. Look forward to hearing your responses :)
Hey guys, I'm just asking cause I'm curious about it. What are the health resources on campus, are they reliable? How does it work? Any personal experiences?
That's all, thank you for reading.
Good evening guys is there anyone in Neptune or around who has a sim tool I could borrow? Or a pin that would fit? Thanks in advance
