We're getting married at the Luzerne Courthouse in December and have family coming to join. Wilkes-Barre is pretty run down... any nicer areas to stay that wouldn't be too far from the courthouse? Looking for something more appealing to the eye and that has nicer restaurants. Thanks!
Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the Eric Frein manhunt. I was in the midst of my first adult job at the time, and I can remember my coworkers saying some wild theories. It was actually weird because our company provided an annual service to the entire NEPA division of the state police and a week before the attack, they cancelled the service for the first time ever. I know they received around 15Million from the government to fund the manhunt. This only fueled rumors further. A lot of the details at that time seemed suspect. Does anyone have any insight into what actually happened?
Hello NEPA! After 20 years I’ve made the decision to move back home and I’m looking for work. I have over 15 years in the industry, and I’ve worked in pretty much any and every type of establishment that serves people alcohol. I don’t want to doxx myself, so I won’t name names in this post, but if you’re a business owner or hiring manager I’ll happily provide you with my resume through email or via Culinary Agents.
This is my signature Bloody Mary that I originally created for a certain Philadelphia institution known for charcuterie. It’s called The Immaculate Concoction.
Is there anywhere in NEPA that is guaranteed to hire right now? Something that won't tell you "we'll help you get the position" and then hire someone else? Looking for a job is like trying to find a needle in a haystack right now.
Anyone know what happened to Andy Palumbo? He hasn't been on the air for a couple of week, his longtime blog has been taken down and his social media is pretty much gone. I can only imagine he left or was let go. Any insight?
I'm working on a list of people who are considered 'NEPA Famous.' Anyone that is in NEPA most of the time and is widely known and hopefully appreciated throughout the area. This could be athletes, media personalities, business owners, musicians, or other local figures.
TIA for your suggestions!
Hello all, we are new to NEPA, just moved here a few months ago. We love to go out for drinks, live music and dancing. Are there any places in the Scranton area that offer tis? We have found a few great restaurants and a couple of places t have a drink but nothing with live music and/or dancing that has a crowd our age. Thanks for your help.
Recently moved out of state from my parents place in NEPA and haven't updated my address yet. Jury duty came for me back at my parents, which my parents filled out informing them I had moved and no longer reside in the county. Is this a reasonable enough reason to be excused from jury duty? Should I expect and plan to not be excused and have to return home for said date? Anyone else deal with this, what was your timeline for hearing back about a decision if you were excused?
ETA: my patents just got my excusal notice in the mail so the timeline was about 2 weeks, thanks to all who commented!
Does anyone know of a detailer or upholsterer in the area that works on steering wheels?
What’s your favorite spot to go for a run/jog in nepa ?
So I was hoping to do some food challenges for fun. I live in northeast PA. Anyone know any food challenges anywhere around here? Thanks in advance
You all were very helpful in my last post so I’m coming back for advice. We bought a house in Dallas and will be moving from Asheville NC area in October (thanks for everyone’s suggestions!) We have a one year old and I’m curious of things to do in the area with toddlers. I don’t get out much and am quite an introvert. Alas, my daughter (unfortunately for me) is not. We will be near Frances Slocum so looking forward to that- anything else? Tia
I moved back to NEPA a year ago after being gone for a decade. I’ve had an urge to draw/paint some of the old buildings, bridges, scenery etc. in the area. These are both from Scranton, but figured this group might have some suggestions! Thinking of doing a bunch of them. And it would get me out and about NEPA as well!
20 years old so bars aren’t an option.. but im bored to hell. what are we doing today?
Is there any local delis or butchers in the SWB area you know of that sells home made true scrapple? I always get the commercial stuff but just wondering if any place in the area has anything made in house.
I've been looking for a bottle of either Ommegang or Weyerbacher ideally; I've stopped at a couple of beer distributors on the way home from work, but with no luck. Does anyone know where I can get a bottle or two close by?
Hello Everyone! I will be traveling to Beach Lake in a few weeks and am in the middle of training for a marathon and looking for a place to run in the area.
I am looking for spot that is paved or mostly paved and where I can run up to 16 miles. Totally good with looping around the same trail if needed. I do not love running along winding roads without sidewalks so I am more looking for trails if possible.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Are there any venues in the Scranton area that have local bands that play ORIGINAL music?
