This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.

Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .

This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.

The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

What can you do as a user?

• Complain. Message the mods of /r/reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message /u/reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /r/reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.

• Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /r/ModCoord.

• Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!

• Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

Hello, I encountered an issue while restarting Twilight++. Suddenly, the top screen went black, and instead of the usual DSi splash screen, it displayed 'Gameboy.' I checked the settings and noticed that all options related to the top screen were missing, and the DSi splash screen had been replaced entirely by the Gameboy logo. I need assistance with this problem. Additionally, when I clicked the SELECT button, the information that is typically shown on the top screen appeared on the bottom screen instead.

Hello reddit'ers,

As the subject suggests, I'm picking up my DS Lite after about 15 years. I have several old DS flashcarts(Supercard, cyclo, DSLinker), and I have a couple GBA flashcarts(M3 Micro USB and G6 Lite).

But the problem is, I have moved on to Linux about 15 years ago as well. I don't know if there's any linux users here, but if there are, what are my options? I mainly want to play my gba games. I have a ton on my micro usb that sits inside my M3(I don't know which M3 it is). But the thing is I wan't to add more games on it, and I remember having to use a Game Manager to do that. Which is a Windows program. Which I can no longer find. Lol

As you can see I'm a bit lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've recently obtained a DSI that was modded (Twilight menu and Unlaunch), I played around with it and investigated on the matter because I have no experience with Nintendo consoles and less about modding them, I decided to format the console and try to mod it myself for future reference but failed.
My DSI has the 1.4.1U firmware version, and it won't let me update it; The console has internet connection but it keeps throwing the same error (code 034609), I Investigated around and only found that it's because the console has been tampered with or the connection.
Any Ideas of what could it be or what can I do?

I'll keep this brief, I've been having issues with the European ROM of Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia, the game crashes during the tutorial part. Even though on the nds bootstrap compatibility list it said the game works and I have updated Twillight Menu and NDS Bootstrap beforhand, does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with this?

I have a DSI LL (Japanese)

Which i was planning on modding it to english firware, but after that, I was going to use an r4, which one should i get? currently thinking about a R4 2021 SDHC

Hello everyone, I just purchased a Japanese dsi and I'm trying to do the camera glitch. I put all the files in the root and when I hit gallery it just turns into a green top and bottom screen. The guide says I did not do the prep work well but I did it multiple times as the guide says and it is still not working. I'd love to get this fixed! Let me know if anyone experienced this and how they fixed it!

i just put on twilightmenu and unlaucher. it’s great so far, but i get some occasional crashing on ds games, like pokémon white totally freezes sometimes when i save. it’s more common on dsi ware, like aura aura climber it happens randomly during gameplay, system will just reset like i hit the power button. i’ve had no problem w GBA games though, those seem very stable.

did i do something wrong? is there a known cause of this issue?

With the fact that you can overclock the dsi couldnt you theoretically do something like n64,dreamcast or at least ps1 because the n64 has less processing power than an overclocked ds, I think not sure tho.

I'm very confused, i don't know which system to install, should i install twilightmenu or homebrew (does the two of them do the same thing or are they different). Also i want to play all the games, from the ds to the new 3ds, but i'm not understanding how to get the cias/room of those games for the console(the console in question is a new nintendo 2ds). I have this R4, and I've seen that there are two loaders but both seem to be in alpha state, and I'm referring to gbaemu4ds, gbarunner2... Hello there! I was wondering, is there a way to use Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector without the use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector? Because, I know it comes with a driver to detect any DS nearby, so... Like, is there a way to just use a Nintendo DS with the DS Charger to USB (or Nintendo DSi with a Nintendo DSi Charger to USB), and connect the DS to the computer for Wi-Fi that way?

My Problem is that I fucked up in the settings while changing the boot options. The "no button" is now binded to flipnote. I cant get back into the Homebrew software nor the DSi Menu. Is there a way to get back into either or any way I can take all of the Homebrew stuff away from my DSi? Just anyway It would be usable again really..

hi everyone, it’s been years since i installed twighlight menu to my dsi. i stupidly transferred a pic from system to sd card and it screwed something up… what do i need to do to fix this? and can it be fixed with a mac?

I was looking through gamebrew and found a port for another world. The only problem I'm having with installing it is patching the .nds file to the dldi patch file, I'm not sure how to patch it because the dldi patchers for windows I've found are either outdated or in beta. Clearly, I can't use an xdelta patcher because there aren't any xdelta files used in the folders. I'm using an sd card with twilight menu++ installed if that matters and I'm using my old dsi xl.
