Time sensitive. Which game tonight would be the best to watch after a hard day?

My (27F) husband (26M) had a bad day and gets off in an hour. I’m going to do a lot for him to cheer him up, but I’m going to put football on as well. None of his teams are playing tonight, but he loves football like crazy and will watch and enjoy any “good” game.

Unfortunately, there are so many playing tonight and I don’t know which one would be “good” (we have Fubo). He often chooses based off of where they are in the ranks and/or skill level of teams.

What game would you recommend?

NCAA Sports Officials

Have you ever thought about becoming an NCAA sports official? What do you all think? Anyone here already an official, or thinking about it? What are the pros and cons in your opinion? Or if you’re on the fence, why?

If you’re done playing but still want to stay in the game, reffing could be the way to go! It’s a cool way to stay connected, keep that competitive vibe alive, and, yeah, make some extra cash too. Plus, seeing things from the ref’s perspective is a whole new experience—definitely eye-opening!

Do most athletes go on to graduate and get their degree or not? Do some just drop out once their scholarship is over?

I don't know what the stats are or graduation rate is. A lot of them are on scholarship and I don't think its a guaranteed 4 year. I remember when I was a student athletes rarely showed up and sometimes they'd ask me for answers during a quiz lol.I'm not sure if graduation is a priority especially if some can go pro.

Can an international student be eligible to play college soccer in grad school, after he has completed undergrad school outside the US (without playing any sports in NCAA)? Division 2

I'm an international student considering pursuing a graduate degree in the U.S. and am passionate about continuing my soccer career at the college level. I have a few questions regarding eligibility for NCAA Division II soccer:

  1. After completing my undergraduate studies outside the U.S., can I still be eligible to play NCAA Division II soccer if I didn't participate in any NCAA sports during my undergraduate years?

  2. What specific academic and amateurism requirements do I need to meet as an international student?

  3. Are there any additional steps I need to take regarding the NCAA Eligibility Center to confirm my eligibility?

  4. How does the recruitment process work for international players looking to join an NCAA Division II soccer program ?

Coach's gifts? In D1 sports?

Our kid is a soccer player at a D1 school. Once pre-season began over the summer, we began getting multiple emails from the parents of senior players to pitch in $300 per family towards post-game tailgates for the players, with the left over funds to be used for coach's gifts. There are 29 players on the team, so the amount raised was $8,700.

This is what I find strange about the whole thing:

  1. Parents already have to pay for their kids' meal plans with tuition, so why wouldn't the school pay for the athletes to eat after their games?

2 The kitty is only used to reimburse UP TO $300 per game, just for the main dish. Parents still have to pay out of pocket for side dishes and drinks for each post-game tailgate.
3) There are only 19 guaranteed games during the season. If they go deep in the league tourney and go to NCAA's there would be more (but not v likely in this case).
4) Conservatively, there will be $3,500-$4,000 left over in the kitty at the end of the season.

Any other parents of college athletes dealing with something like this?
Doesn't $3,500-$4,000 seem like a lot of money for coach's gifts (1 HC, and 3 Assistants) given that they are paid employees?

eligibility question

hi all,

I graduated in May 2024 from a D1 university where I ran cross country and track. Upon graduation I had following eligibility left: 1 xc season (covid), 2 indoor (covid and regular redshirt), 1 outdoor (regular redshirt).

I’m now a grad student at a D3 university. My covid xc and covid indoor track seasons transferred over but not my redshirted indoor and outdoor. Is there any way I can appeal this and ask for a waiver?

Requirements for College

I’m teaching at a high school which is predominantly made up of basketball boys and a lot of them laughed at the idea of academic excellence.

They told me that as long as you ‘know someone in the system’ and as long as ‘you do well in sports, academic grades are nothing to be worried about.’ For example, someone as tall as 6’9’’ and is from an African descent doesn’t need to do well in school because they will automatically be accepted into a good team.

Also, they are under the impression that they don’t have to take SAT/ACT to get into their desired college (D1), and that once a college offers them a position, they’d be sure to get in so they just forgo everything at school right now, failing all the classes. I’m concerned for them.

I need a coach or someone in the system to give me a little guidance on all these ‘myth’ that I’m hearing.

Weekly Conference Honors Same School, Same Week, from 3 Different Conferences

I don’t know where to post this and even if I’ll find an answer. I’m a student producer for my school’s TV station and we (Robert Morris) just had weekly conference honors in 3 different conferences (Horizon League, Atlantic Hockey America, and NEC) in the same week

Is this the first time this has ever happened?

NEC Football: Anthony Chiccitt and Keon Freeman

Horizon League Men’s Soccer: JP Mbuthia

AHA Men’s Hockey: Walter Zacher, Croix Kochendorfer, and Trent Wilson

All courses must count towards your degree after 3rd year?

So I know one of the rules for eligibility is that all courses once you enter your third year must count towards your declared degree. If I finish a bunch of courses in my first and second year and I am on track to graduate early. But I still have 3 years of eligibility left due to redshirting, would that mean that I would be forced to complete my degree and my eligibility would be over even though I didn't do my full 5 years? Also considering that if you are a NCAA athlete you must take a minimum of 12 credits per semester to maintain eligibility so I can't just drop my course load by too much.

Edit: Division 2

Hi. Not sure what I am asking here but I will do my best. I am going to be vague so sorry about that. Is there a code of ethics or rules/laws that I can read about how paid student trainers are to be treated in a group setting.

For example, if 60-80 of these students are on a plane headed to a game. The supervisors allegedly say they smell a vape from the back of the plane. They make everyone get off the plane and give them the riot act threatening that if this person isn’t turned in or turns himself that something will happen. Many students went and got drug screens and turned them in. No one did. For one, if you were sitting in the middle to the front of the plane and were I dunno… asleep.. how can you possibly turn someone in? How is this even legal?…….”If we punish one we have to punish everyone” and accordingly everyone’s duties have been diminished, no traveling, no dressing out for anyone until someone turns this kid in.

They are being verbally harassed and emotionally manipulated. I would like to know if they have offered the students therapy or conflict resolution. How do they handle this? Anyone I can contact to follow this closely. Any watchdog groups I can get in contact with?

1950-1962 NCAA Basketball Players

Hello. I'm currently working on a project and looking for any NCAA basketball players who played from 1950-1962. If anyone has a grandpa, cousin, neighbor, etc. that played please have them reach out to 1960sncaaplayers@gmaill . com. Extra help would be greatly appreciated if there are any Michigan State University players from 1960-1962 as well. Thank you!

Crazy but fun hypothetical (imo)… read on for question

OK, so in this imaginary scenario, each state has one university and university only, that competes in NCAA division one athletics. The rule is that you can only go to the university in your state, so all team members must be residents of that state. (I’m asking because I don’t know the answers, so it’s an honest, not rhetorical question… My guesses in parentheses)

Which state wins: Football (Cali, Florida, Texas, ohio)?

Soccer (North Carolina, New Jersey)?

Hockey (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Illinois)

Basketball (California, Texas, New York, Florida)?

Lacrosse (New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania)?

Baseball (Florida, Cali, Texas)?

Should NYC, specifically CUNY schools have college football? And how can they be convinced to implement college football?

I’m currently a enrolled at a CUNY (which for those who don’t know stands for the City University of New York) and I just can’t help but feel the CUNY and NYC itself needs college football.

  1. You look at us when comes to sports and we have teams in almost major sport but yet we lack a college football team, sure we have Syracuse and Buffalo but that’s different, I’m talking about NYC not NY State, NYC lacks that CFB atmosphere that’s are in most cities and states

  2. CUNY could have its own division amongst itself and play against other D-3 opponents that they would play against but maintain a CUNY division like they do with their regular sports

  3. Some CUNY schools have their own field such as Queens College, York College, Brooklyn College, College of Staten Island where they can possibly play football in and overtime they can possibly improve their infrastructure and other schools can probably use other stadiums that are in the NYC Area

  4. It can generate revenue for those schools overtime through fans and playing against other teams just like other CFB teams and eventually become good enough to make it D1 overtime

  5. It gives chance to people from NYC who aren’t able to leave NYC due to reasons and other states who’ve played high school the chance to play CFB

So yeah that’s why I came on this community to say this, if you think there anyway I can convince CUNY to implement a football program such as creating a petition, please let me know and thank you for listening to me

Athletic Program and budgeting. Help needed.

My department is budgeting for next year. We are looking at moving from SIDEARM for our website to PrestoSports but have heard bad things about Presto and stability of their product as well as service turnaround. I was at some NAIA forums and they got ripped to shreds about 2 years ago. Has anyone used them at their program and could give an unbiased review?
