is there any chance this is like when people have a surprise baby 15 years after all their other kids and they’re kind of old and tired so they end up letting the surprise kid get away all sorts of crap they never let their other kids get away with?
The 3 ball is inconsistent as expected but he was on fire in the preseason and beginning of the regular season. I expect it to bounce back especially when Vassell comes back and he gets a smaller role
But can we just talk about the defense? His defensive FG% is 33.3 which is among the highest in the league and it shows. Him and Sochan together have been a fierce wing defensive duo
He’s gonna be a great role player for years to come for us
Any spurs fans going to the Christmas game? In nyc
It’s obvious that he was a great addition. I thought he was basically gonna be a coach on the court but washed as a player. He clearly still has juice. He’s shooting well and passing even better. Unfortunately he’s 39 and only on a 1 year deal. I think we should resign him for 1-2 more years, that way we can keep him as a mentor for the young guys and also maximize what he has left by letting him play with Wemby (and Sochan who he had great chemistry with last night). Even if he isn’t our starting PG by the end of that extension, he’d be a great depth piece and mentor. Anyone else feel the same about him?
Last season, it took them until game No. 20 before an opponent had fewer than 107 points in a game. The Spurs never had two consecutive games allowing 106 or fewer all season.
Sure, a slower pace this season is impacting this, but I think the influence of the vets is helping the younger guys learn to be in the right spots and communicate.
It's early, but Wemby (DPOY) and Sochan (All-Defensive 1st/2nd Teams) are making good cases for awards!
Chris Paul says Pop told everyone to keep Wemby facing the basket instead of with his back to the basket. Victor Wembanyama also said that the change helps him keep moving the ball since he can see the floor better.
If our defense is going to look this elite, I don't mind wemby just letting it go, him getting comfortable shot creating this early will only help him in the long run. Nobody is contesting his shots im pretty sure literally* no one can contest his shot, when our defense looks like that vs. a really formidable team all you need is the shot creation to get you over the hump and again no one can really do anything with his shot.
Oh and Sochan is mip
My wife came up to me and said “hey that really tall lady there is only talking French”. Sure enough, I look over and Wemby’s mom is looking through his jerseys! I thought it was the craziest thing that she was there shopping, and in the busiest time! I figured she’d get whatever she wants from the team, but nonetheless, it was incredibly sweet. I couldn’t imagine seeing my kids face and name everywhere and with an entire city, tons of fans, and his home country wrapped around his finger.
Did the spurs do the half court shot contest for fans during the game vs the T wolves tonight?
I swear they miss at least 2 blocks every game.
You can really see the difference having both guys on the team. They were huge in the 4th quarter as well. I was kinda worried Barnes would regress here but it looks like he hasn't missed a beat. I see why Sacto fans loved him.
Paul also still has something left in the tank. If he keeps this up, I hope he stays the entire season. I know some people think he's getting traded at the deadline but we clearly need him still while Castle develops and Tre is battling injuries.
Wins or losses we are a fun team to watch
I know it’s early, but I hope CP3 sticks around for 1 more season
Team chemistry looks great and Devin hasn’t even played
Jeremy is close to averaging 20 ppg
Wemby is still him
Exactly what we need him to do. Aggressive to the rim and knocked down set threes. Not much else needed. Play hard on d. Will be a serious boost off the bench for us, any team really.
