Welcome to the discussion thread for the Lunar Proton kickstage separation event!
On July 4, 2022 at 6:56 UTC, Lunar Photon will fire its HyperCurie engine one last time to accelerate to 24,500 miles per hour or 39,400 kilometers per hour to escape low earth orbit. Within 20 minutes of this final burn, CAPSTONE will separate from the Lunar Proton kickstage. CAPSTONE’s journey to the near rectilinear halo orbit (NRHO) is expected to take around 4 months from that point. Once it arrives at the moon it will then spend the next 6 months performing experiments to complete the mission.
