Athletic Marine Odyssey

Very smooth and light. This would be a nice light IPA for the beach not in the middle of a cold blast in the north. Enjoyable.

Coors Edge

Have been trying to find Coors Edge near me and finally picked up a couple 6 packs in bottles ($6 for 6 is a steal). I feel like these are miles better than the Busch NA or the Bud Zero! Will definitely be getting these again, these and the Corona NA are solid daily NA drinks!

TIL my all time favorite brewery, Fieldwork in Berkeley, made N/A and ships nationwide!

I had no idea they even got into N/A world, their Pulp and seasonal IPAs were my all time favorites when I used to drink. If anyone has tried I’d love to know how it is! I ordered a day ago and can’t wait to try it.

Athletic’s Ready Front IPA - 60 Cal ~ .05% - Cracked this crispy lil soldier. Absolutely delicious and pine forward IPA. Reminds me of Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo. I truly enjoy the hops Athletic uses, they’re absolutely delicious. This was brewed with veterans with the intention of giving thanks and give back to those who serve for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Current collection

All are “alcohol-free” (≤ 0.05% ABV) except Guiness 0 which is “non-alcoholic” (≤ 0.5% ABV), per US FDA standards. In Europe the Guiness 0 is considered “alcohol-free.” If I’m not mistaken the Guiness 0 is 0.1% ABV.

Real brief reviews:

  • I like the Paulaner but I don’t really taste a beer taste. It mostly tastes like a sparkling lemonade.

  • Heineken is fine, but I was never really a fan of Heineken’s flavor.

  • I just tried the Asahi recently and I’ve become a fan. A real smooth taste.

  • Many people say the Guiness 0 tastes the closest to the regular version more than any other NA/AF beer they’ve tried. Some people say it’s 98% of the regular version. It does have the strongest of all of these pictured but at the same time it has the highest ABV of them as well.

  • I hear mixed reviews on Budweiser Zero but I like it. People say it’s watered down but to me it has that beer taste and that sweet flavor that’s unique to Budweiser.

On this list I would put Asahi at the top for personal preference.

Shipped Santa Clausthaler

Can’t seem to find it anywhere near me (in South Brooklyn). I know it’s an acquired taste, but I’ve acquired a liking to it.

Anyone know where I can either order it online to be shipped to my home or where in South Brooklyn I can find it?

Happy Thanksgiving!

A little thin maybe, but good flavors! I'm not sure why, but I was imagining this a little darker.

Absolutely Horrendous

Momentum Brewery’s Black IPA - 90 Cal ~ .05% - I try to say something positive about every NA beer I get, but this one is just disappointing as hell. It was recommended to me by the owner of the NA shop I get most of the ones I drink, and all I can say is it is NOT for me. Supposedly a Black IPA brewed with coffee and chocolate, all I taste is…burnt plastic. I wanted to like it. I spend a premium on these as we all know and from time to time you’re always going to find a dud. I’m having a hard time finishing it, but I think I’ve gotten used to how bad it tastes. I’ll try and finish on a positive note that typically this guy recommends great brews, but this one is just bad.

This is probably the tastiest NA beer I've ever had! Matinee IPA from Ras L 'Bock Brewing in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli Quebec

Super juicy and dank and tastes better than most New England IPAs I've tried from regular breweries

First holiday season sober🙌🏻

Craft beer nerd here. Got sober back in February. Didn’t try NA until 8 months in for fear it could trigger me to want the full octane stuff. Surprisingly it’s been the opposite. I have no urge to be altered. I do feel empowered knowing I can still enjoy a hoppy or malty beverage occasionally with no hangover, less calories, and no insanity of needing one after the other, after the other, until passed out. #feelsgoodman #nohangoverlife #sober

This stuff just hits!

Happy Turkey day. I am thankful to have found this sub of fellow sober beer drinkers!!!

This bad boy has become my go to. For context I was a craft beer whore until I realized I had a problem. I waited in line at other half at other half in Brooklyn 6am on Saturdays and then ship that beer all over the country. Trading for treehouse and monkish and hill farmstead and the veil etc… Anyway this beer checks all the boxes. Delicious hazy ipa. Not overly fruity like the fieldwork headliner. Reminds me of some trillium IPAs.

Fieldwork Encore Hazy

No pics here but just an OMG thrown up to Fieldwork for their hazy. Just an absolute jucie bomb. Tropical as heck. Needs a touch more moutbfeel to catch Deschutes IPA but man oh man it's really good.

Woodland Farms Brewery’s Maple Amber - 98 Cal ~ .05% - Hot damn! Another banger autumn beer. The caramel and maple syrup comes through in a subtle yet delicious way. These are from Maine and the can says the maple syrup is from Maine’s own K&H Sugar Shack. I’m kind of floored how good these are. Will try more from them in the future.

Some Thoughts on Bero

Awhile back one of you asked for some Bero thoughts. My case arrived, I tried them and loved them, thought about writing a post detailing the 3 and what I liked about each...and then time got away from me. And I'm glad it did because my thoughts have changed since finishing the case.

On arrival, all 3 flavors were distinct and interesting. The issue is that I don't remember which is my favorite or what they tasted like because by the time I finished, they all kind of just tasted like the can? They taste metallic and vaguely citrusy and don't seem to have maintained their flavor. They're still within their best by date so it doesn't appear to be a user error, and the Athletic I got at the same time still taste like they should so it's not an issue with my mouth or with just drinking too many over the past month or so.

Obviously I can't swear this will happen to everyone, but as of right now my recommendation is:

  • buy them in store rather than paying full price from the site and waiting for arrival
  • buy one small pack at a time
  • buy close to when you want to drink them and don't let them sit in the fridge for weeks

Granted, I have yet to see them in store so this might just not be an option. If you do this, I think most people will find they enjoy at least one of the 3 depending on preferences. But if you want to order a big variety pack and work your way through as the mood strikes, I'd stick with Athletic or Bravus or some other brand until I or someone else can confirm this was a fluke, because right now I'm regretting my purchase in spite of loving the first few drinks.

Which...I have a whole other case I added to get free shipping so I guess I can follow up soonish if the other case keeps any better, though I'll be finishing my Athletic first and letting these be backups since I'm currently unimpressed.

Looking for the hoppiest N/A out there. Suggestions?

Interested in more hoppy hop water as well. The Sierra Nevada hop splash is good but pretty mild.

Like finding coal in my stocking...

The Clausthaler Original and Dry Hopped have been regular go to NAs for me so when I saw this pop up in the sub the other day, I knew I was going to grab it if I saw it and man, this really surprised me and not in a good way. While I am relatively new to NAs and it's been 12 years since I had an alcoholic beer, I can't imagine this being a typical holiday brew flavor but maybe I'm wrong. The "cranberry cinnamon drink" tastes the way stale holiday potpourri smells. Normally if I don't like a NA, I can power through the rest of them without issue but will not be finishing this six pack :( who is the audience for the this "beer"...

It's my four-year sobriety milestone today, so I picked these up in my town (Owensboro, KY).

Today marks four years since I last got drunk and I don't plan on picking up the hard stuff again, especially when I can find goodies like this! It's got the taste and the full body without the regret or guilt. I love this and will grab it again!
