Hi everyone! I've been approved by the mods to post this.
I have two extra Myst books that I'd like to give away. First person to comment that you want either one or both of them gets them for free. Just let me know if you want one of them or both.
CONDITIONS: You must have a mailing address in the United States. Sorry - I''m covering postage on this, and I can only afford to ship to the US.
So! First person to comment gets them! I'll PM you and get your info and ship them off tomorrow.
Thanks everyone! I've attached a few photos - they're not in perfect condition, but still very good.
EDIT: BOTH BOOKS HAVE FOUND A NEW HOME
The language they use, like, with the letter on the rock, is so confusing to me, I’m just running in circles like a headless chicken
I just got Myst on my phone, I used to play it on my grandpas old as computer with him, I see people complaining that it’s confusing to navigate and stuff and I’m like, “From what I remember, I think that’s the point”
It was easier to walk and look at things in myst. Now it's like a slide show. Were all the original games like this? Any idea why the changed it for the iOS version of myst but not riven
Hello, I'm working on a let's play series in which I guide a couple of friends through the Myst series for the first time. We've already recorded the first game and I'm currently familiarizing myself with Riven since it's been a while since I played it
I only ever played a little of Uru back in the day, most of my knowledge ends with Exile, so I'm not sure when it would be best to start talking about who the D'ni are, I know the first two books released before Riven, but presumably the Stranger wouldn't have any knowledge of that until after Riven....
Can I get a quick run down on the books? Not sure what details are most important, or if I should even mention stuff from the books at all until before Exile
What would be the best order to tackle Uru and Myst V? I know there is some wonkyness with the release order... maybe the vanilla Uru content, then V, then the DLCs?
I recently went to Italy and we visited the National Gallery in Perugia and this art was in one of the halls and it instantly reminded me of the Moiety so I wanted to share :)
So I grabbed Myst VR for my kiddo to try.
I was playing with it last night and it works great. However, I don't like how the right thumbstick moves your perspective. I just wanted to move my perspective by turning my body 360 (playing while standing).
The only options appear to be Smooth Movement and degree based turns.
Smooth movement was just horrible, so I have it set to Turn based for now.
Anyway, there does not appear to be an option to disable it, but I thought I'd ask here just in case.
Thanks!
[EDIT] It's not the "CD" version (with multiple discs) but the DVD version (with only one disc)
Hi !
I have found an old CD of Myst V that I've never played. I want to install it on my computer (Windows 10). The "launcher" appears but when I click "Install" I have a small InstallShield loading and then nothing.
What should I do ? I know some people will tell me to use an emulator but my computer is running very low on storage so I'd rather not. Isn't there a simpler way ?
Has anyone seen Ahnonnay spin?
I beat Uru in complete chronicles, and although I hate the puzzle, I also adore it, I like to blame Kadish for it and his gloating symbolism.
But Uru was made for multiplayer so surely if the model spins, someone would have recorded it right? One person to watch at the end, and one person to spin it, either using the clock tower or using the switches. But I can't find a video of it anywhere, even though it seems a fairly simple task.
If that doesn't have an animation, at least the shuttle should have one, but I can't find any of that either. Is there something in the online version(s) that stops Ahnonnay from working this way?
(I don't have 2 Moula accounts, so can't make it myself anyway.)
I just beat Myst on the psp version I downloaded on my modded PS Vita. I was happy to be able to play this game I had played when I was a kid with my mother. I had played Myst then Exile cause Riven wasn't working at the time, and then Revelation.
To be honest, I mostly remember the atmosphere and places, I think my mother was actually the one to work on the riddles.
So I just beat Myst and wanted to get to Riven which I never played, and wanted to ask :
Which games of the franchise are the most difficult? Is Riven harder than Myst? What about Exile?
Every now and then I suddenly realise something unusual about the games that I never noticed at the time. (Apparently this is refered to as a 'shower thought' in some circles, but I'm more familiar with the term 'fridge logic'.)
This time I've suddenly thought about how when Atrus links back into K'veer at the end of Myst, he links back into his chair, whereas the Stranger links a different part of the room, next to some rubble.
This implies that theoretically there must be a second K'veer linking book somewhere on Myst Island, because each linking book links to precisely one location.
Not a huge revelation, but an unusual thought nonetheless.
After the Riven remake, I’ve seen some threads asking Cyan to remake Exile (and the other titles) as well. Don’t judge me here, that might be a great idea. However, wouldn’t it be even nicer if we got another Myst remake for the 35th anniversary? I kind of love collecting those, and I would be delighted to have a sixth version of the same game.
Is there anything in uru cc and end of ages that can be missed even if you beat them?
This is kind of unusual for me, because I'm not the kind of person to decorate their house, or buy a lot of merch. However, I wanted to support Cyan, so I ordered some of their posters for Myst and Riven. When I got them, I thought they were so beautiful that I wanted to protect them, so I picked out some frames that seemed to fit them thematically (again, very unusual for me): The humble, natural wood frame for Myst and Atrus, and the gaudy gold frame for Riven and Ghen.
I thought they looked nice and wanted to share.
Thanks, Cyan!
Shorah!
I first got into the Myst world with Riven on Playstation, I loved it! Then down the road gametap with MOUL. I miss all the friends I made and people that hated me lol. The role playing was the funest part of it for me. I wish that would come back, I had a few characters on it. I had a few male characters and a few female characters back then. My most infamous one was Sydney Austin (I tried to make it fun for the community, sorry for those I upset). I was also Ron, Rocket, and Vixen Online. I still log in to MOUL once in awhile, but I never see anyone online that are active. Is there an active Bevin currently?

Hi Myst fans. I'm working on a point-and-click adventure along the lines of Myst (1993). Please see my blog post, Building a game with the Real Engine, for some early details.
This question is midgame and contains a lot of spoilers:
So, I've entered all the spinning domes and activated all of the light orbs without any difficulty, but I have a friend who's playing the game and has one of the orbs flying around in outer space and doesn't know how to get it trapped in the center. I did not come across this in my playthrough, so I don't know how to give a hint about it. Any ideas what the flying orb is about and how I managed to overlook this?
