We are a group of people engaged in collecting as much digital music as possible. Some hoard music because they believe that the internet will not remain free and open in the foreseeable future. Some collect purely for rare and obscure music, to preserve pieces which might otherwise be lost in time. Others just wish to learn about music formatting, organizing and pirating.
Whatever your persuasion, if you hold an interest in anything relating to the above—then you'll fit right in!
Make sure to check out the wiki for more info.
Do not beg for access to music or make demands regarding requests. Users frequently choose to generously share music through various outlets. Do not harass other members of this community for their music or access to their files, or request access to files in a way that comes across as entitled. It will not be tolerated.
Do not request or offer invites to trackers or other private music sharing sites. This is not the place for requesting invitations to music trackers. Content revolving around this topic will be removed.
Avoid posting simply to brag about the size of your music collection. Content that solely positions itself to show off large amounts of content do not contribute to the conversation revolving around collecting music and auxiliary parts of music. It is approaching spam. Content in this style must either have a longer text post/comment attached to it discussing the collection in some depth or be substantial in some other way.
Talk to moderators before posting about projects. Some things are often best kept under wraps, such as siterips of major music sites. Publicizing the work being done behind the scene can often jeopardize the project or put those doing the work in legal danger if they are not very careful. It can also put the subreddit in danger. None of these things are good, so consider messaging the mods before actually posting about projects like those discussed above.
Be specific, concise, and polite when requesting music. See this post https://www.reddit.com/r/musichoarder/comments/brsqx6/if_youre_looking_for_something_specific/. If you have questions about this rule, or message the moderators.
Self promotion of music, playlists, services, products. Self promotion of music, services, playlists, products, or other digital or physical materials, regardless of relevance to the subreddit, may be removed with moderator discretion.
Shared music should be obfuscated at a minimum. Music shares can put the uploader and/or the subreddit in danger with reddit or legal teams, and should at minimum be obfuscated using base64. Better still would be password protection or private sharing. Message a moderator with questions.
Do not harass/bully/attack/defame other users. Harassment of other users in posts or comments will not be tolerated and may result in an immediate ban (moderator discretion). This includes PMing members of the subreddit or "following" their account around reddit, whether the problems originate here or elsewhere. If they have an impact on this subreddit this rule will be enforced.
Avoid posting NSFW content- if you must, please flair it appropriately. NSFW content will not often be relevant to the subreddit, unless a question/post/comment pertains to NSFW album art/lyrics. Please be aware of this and refrain from posting about it unless it is absolutely relevant to the subreddit's stated goals.

I would like to collect a huge random assortment of music lyrics for offline viewing is there anything like this?
Like many of you, I still buy many CDs each year. And for the last few years I have been just ripping each new CD, only reading it once, transcoding to FLAC to go into my file server, and then putting the CD on a shelf. I use a linux workstation for this, running the "abcde" script which does everything I need with just a few key presses. It internally uses "cdparanoia" for the CD audio extraction process. However I have a hardware problem. The only CD drive which I have been able to find which does a good job of audio extraction is an LG portable DVD burner, model GP40NB40, connecting via USB. I have purchased and tried 3 different internal SATA drives: a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-212D, an LG DVDRAM GH24NSD0, and an LG DVDRAM GH24NSD1. And all 3 of these internal SATA drives are horrible at ripping CDs with cdparanoia. They are super slow, have to re-read and error correct everything, and sometimes even produce artifacts and noise in the output files. It's easy to see how well the process is going with cdparanoia, because it prints out different characters on a timeline as it's extracting each song. And with all 3 of these internal SATA drives, the extraction process is a disaster. But using that USB portable drive, with the exact same (new) CDs, the process is perfect and there are no errors at all. Does anyone know why these drives are all so bad at ripping audio CDs? Does anyone have a recommendation for an internal SATA drive which works well for ripping CDs under Linux? TIA.
I have a bunch of soundtracks that range from “Original Score” to “Various Artists” and while I do want to have the composer’s albums together, like John Williams, it gets messy when a series has different composers. Like Harry Potter or Narnia. So I’m more interested in just putting them all in “Soundtrack” and then alphabetical from there.
In your opinion, if H/W playback is not a concern, is there a point converting to MP3 from a lossless source over, let's say: Vorbis, Opus or AAC?
And your collection expands by 585GB.
I didn't forget it was there, but for some reason removed the folder from the scan list some time in the past.
Hey everyone, i'm looking for an advice here.
Basically, there is a bunch of defunct, delisted and forgotten hard dance music labels (Suntec, Subway, Anthem, Future Sound Corporation etc) that are absolutely nowhere to be found in digital quality. Back in the days (like 15 years ago) their stuff used to be available digitally on junodownload (delisted now) and trackitdown (defunct music store) but now became a bit of a lost media. There are some vinyl rips that can be found, but i'm interested in digital quality. They are not on soulseek, not on Deezer, not on Spotify, odesli.co doesn't find them anywhere. Hell, I even tried to message people who ran the labels decades ago on FB - with no reaction.
By a sheer accident, I found a bunch of releases from these labels on Apple Music geolocated to Guyana (don't ask me why). They are fully available (i can play the preview there) I've been trying to figure out how on earth to rip it from there, because none of the methods I know work here (for example the Pink Music G bot returns an error hinting at the location).
I tried to send a couple of the releases to the 'Temp Request & Share for Firehawk' telegram group - they did rip two of them for me, but the problem is that it took like a week and I have some 30-40 releases (these are mostly 2-3 track EPs) and I don't want to appear too greedy relying on someone being nice. This is an example of one of the releases.
If anyone has a tip how could I go about ripping this stuff from guayanese Apple Music i would be forever grateful. I don't have a problem with paying for an account, but I have no idea how would I obtain a guayanese account. I wouldn't have a problem with paying some small thank you fee to someone who could rip these for me either.
I moved away from streaming a few years ago, and now have around 6000 song files. I've never sorted my album folders into artist folders, as I haven't ever found a reason to push me to it. However, it seems to be common practice. Why does everyone do it? All albums are grouped under artists within music player software, so why bother with the extra layer of folders?
Well, this Question mght Sound stupid, but I really struggle to download new Music now.
I use both Deezer and Spotify for discovering a lot Music and I put everything I want to get in huge Playlists. I Always downloaded These Playlists via Deemix (and similar previous tools) in the past 7 years or so. Deemix was a Software that could directly download from Deezer, even in flac. I absolutely loved it! But unfortunately the dev gave up and it's not working anymore. At least not for me. It was only a Question of time. Firehawk has no more Deezer arls, but the Software itself also doesn't seem to work anymore. RIP Deemix, the GOAT!
Ok, so now I am Looking for an alternative that is conveniant, or at least works.
I found doubledouble and Lucida - 2 websites that do the same as Deemix - but they both don't work for me. Both are extremely slow and Show me hundrets of Errors. It is a pain in the ass to even download one single song. Damn I have Playlists with 200+ Songs that I want to download. Lucida can download from Spotify, but that doesn't work for me too. Errors everywhere!
Ok, so there is spotifydown, which I think converts Spotify Playlists to YouTube and Downloads from there. Quality is not as good but ok. The Problem is, this site has become extremely slow too! It is unbearable that it takes 30min to download 20 mp3s! And sometimes if breaks in the middle and doesn't even download all Songs. It used to be working some months ago, but now it just sucks!
Of Course I know Soulseek. But it's only good for downloading single Songs and complete Albums/discograpies. I am not an Album listener, I want to get the Songs I actually really like/download my Playlists. Soulseek cannot download Playlists. I found some Spotify Plugin, but of Course it didn't work. Besides that, there is a lot of Music that Soulseek just doesn't offer. When you want to get Music besides Mainstream, good luck finding it there. At least for me it is not a good Option.
So, how the hell can I download my Playlists in acceptable Quality now after all the great Tools died???
I remember there was a Spotify Downloader, that downloaded directly from Spotify, but only in 128kbps. I gotto test if it is still around and working, but the Quality would be a huge compromise. I also know About These Telegram bots, but they were Always gone after some time and they were also extremely slow. So, i don't have telegram anymore. The only method that Comes to my mind that is left possible, is to manually convert all Playlists to YouTube and then download from there via Foobar2000 or some YTDL... Damn, this can't be it! It's 2025 and it got so ridiculously hard to download fucking Music! When YT fixes their shit too, i think we are completely fucked and have to give in to Streaming. But I don't want to stream only, I want to care for my offline Collection.
Are there any good Options left for me??? How can I download my Deezer Playlists (in flac)???
What also would be nice was some Auto download feature for liked Songs. What is there left?
Hi all, is there any nice simple apps that can be used to normalize music files in bulk and export, without modifying filename or meta data?
Thanks.
Hi, I know reddit is a big place and I'm unsure if this is the right subredit to ask in, but whatever. I learned my MIni Cooper can display all tracks and switch between them on most CDs I put into it.
I've been using cdrecord to burn my CDs.
`sudo cdrecord dev=/dev/sr0 -pad -audio ~/RippedAlbum/*.wav` has been my main method of doing this Granted this leaves the "untitled track" and "uknown artist" appearing in my Mini Cooper's Player.
So I tried out foobar2000 (in wine) and using thier feature to "generate multi-track files" which also makes a cue sheet. This does make all the tracks populate, but selecting a track doesn't work besides choosing the first or second track. It's like the rest of the tracks on the disk are just part of the second track. I don't know what can be causing this but here is the command I use: `sudo cdrecord dev=/dev/sr0 -pad -audio -cuefile 'Artisit - AlbumName (Deluxe).wav.cue' -text` (no errors appear when burning)
I've tried using Whipper to copy my Jubilee - Japanese Breakfast cd to see if there's a formatting thing that's wrong but Whipper just fails for whatever reason.
TL;DR I learned that my mini cooper has the ability to display all tracks on a cd and switch tracks on CDs (like my offical Jubilee - Japanese Breakfast) not on my offical Sabatoge - Beastie Boys cd though) and I'm trying to replicate the feature with minimal success.
I really want to make this work so I can make a mix-tape bascially for a girl so yea help wanted. I'm tired and have already done 6 hours of trail and error, any tools/suggestions is appreciated.
Update: ImgBurn in wine is the answer
So Jared Faber (music composer for the 2008 Mr Men Show) had a playlist of songs he did for the show on his Soundcloud back in 2014/2015, but the tracks are gone recently.
soundcloud.com/blind-lemon-music/sets/songs-from-the-mr-men-show
I contacted Jared on his official website, but got nothing yet from him, or if he'll be in contact.
Someone on YouTube already had the songs on a video, but I want to archive the original files. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLw-22-Ojq8
Hey all! Title. I recently saw a video in the background, and they showed off HiBy's evangelion collab. I never heard of them before, and upon looking into them, they appear to be high end dedicated music players (akin to an iPod).
What do y'all think of them? It seems interesting, especially as someone who usually listens to FLACs, but it's a little pricey for what it is, especially since most phones can do what it does.
Is there really any benefit of using it over something like a standard android phone? Does it significantly degrade a recommendation if you primarily use Bluetooth over wired? especially if they're lower end headphones since most good ones are in-ear but I need over ear earbuds but that's a separate tangent lmao
Edit: In case y'all wanted it, here's the collab: https://store.hiby.com/products/hiby-r4-x-evangelion
does anyone know where i can download full albums at high quality ? i’m trying to make a custom cd for an album that never got physical copies and i was just wondering if there’s an easy way to download all of the songs at once while keeping them high quality
So i think the question is very straightforward. Knowing that most of these remixes dont have copyrights, they will be obselete as time goes if youtube ever changes their policy and some of these remixes are literally ONLY on yt music. I have reliable sources for spotify and soundcloud already but theres so much songs on yt music i cant get. I scoured the internet for hours yesterday, trying stuff like yt-dl(not sure about the name) and various programs but to no avail. I could only find one program called media downloader which grasped around 360 out of the 680 tracks i have using yt-dl. I need a tool that has a gui and doesn't require me to download a zibillion packages from phyton and set up lots of stuff like ffmpeg just to give out a error i cant fix. Metadata bundled with the tracks is a must and the quality is preferably in flac or opus although mp3 320 is also fine. (Just dont recommend stuff that are terrible 128 rips.)
Which of the three is better for flac and lossles
Hello
I have a wv pack 32/192 with Cue file. I want to convert to FLAC or ALAC and keep the best quality. How can I do that, I prefer foobar2000 methods.
Thanks
Hello everyone,
I just joined this community and I appreciate your help with my search. I'm starting the hobby of collecting the art books that come in the cd's, I have found options to download only the covers, however my interest goes deeper with the art, messages and content on each page of these art books.
Do any of you know where I can download or purchase these art books?
Thanks in advance for your help!

successfullyHow do I see the Spotify data on a given track?
I've read the manual. Can't find it anywhere. I ran exiftool
to see all tags in the file and there isn't anything from spotify there, so maybe it's just in the database?
Looking for the correct beet command. Help?
I was hoping someone with coding knowledge could help get beets to add what I call a quality tag to the end of album folders. I’ve seen a couple posts in the beets forum of people attempting something similar but the forum is dead now.
Basically I’d want to add something like: if bitrate of flac files for an album is 16 and there is a .log file, add [CD-FLAC] as the quality tag and add it to the new album name. If flac file is 16 bit and there is no log file use [WEB-FLAC] as quality tag. If flac file is 24 bit and sample rate is 44.1 use [24-44.1-WEB-FLAC] as quality tag etc.. up to 24-192. If file is mp3 use [MP3-bitrate] as quality tag such as [MP3-320] or [MP3-V0] etc…
I know this might be asking a lot but I’ve seen posts of people asking for something like this and think it could be helpful to others. I’d appreciate any feedback or guidance. Thank you!
Hardware I have:
- Ubuntu Laptop
- iPhone (unlimited data plan)
- Car w\ CarPlay and supports audio files from USB or CD/DVD
- Working old laptop with optical drive
- 50+ Audio CDs
- Living room stereo receiver (Bluetooth, Roku, and usual inputs)
- Roku Stick
- unused Rasberry Pi 2
Wish list:
- Play Audio on as many of these devices as possible with as little hassle as possible.
- No subscription fees.
- Have full cd text / metadata on all devices.
Today, the only device I can play these on is the old laptop (running libreELEC). What is the best approach to get my CDs onto more devices with the best experience on each?
Are there any nice music players for Windows and/or Android that can handle Plex, Qobuz, and Tidal at the same time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I currently use Plexamp and streaming apps, but I would love to have it all in one interface.
website for losslessaudiochecker shows RIP PCM with no ways to download it. If you have a backup, could you share it? it was really handy bulk checking FLACs.
I personally just put them all in an album called single, but it looks not very nice, plus my preferred music player makes album art for songs In the same album have the same cover art
I have a lot of older "Top 100 Charts" which are essentially just weekly/monthly lists of the top 100 songs. These are not official releases as far as I know.
How would YOU tag and organize them?
My idea was that I just create an artist called "Charts" and this artist has albums called "Charts yyyy-mm-dd"... but I don't know if that's the best possible.
Example picture: https://imgur.com/FX25wpu
( I just listened to some of them, these lists are actually kind of good to activate the nostalgia feeling :D )
