I know the rest of you hate Vogel as Kermit, but I love this line he says in Disney Speedstorm. He sounds so happy to be there. šŸ˜„

Whenever thereā€™s no specific racer required, I always play as olā€™ Kerm.

Muppet Comic Strip Books

Does anyone else have these? I bought them from my schoolā€™s book fair in the 80ā€™s. Copyrighted 84, 85, and 86, from left to right. In terrible condition obviously because I read them hundreds of times.

Why is Elmo so popular? He's the mascot of Sesame Street even though he was first named in episode 1439!

Who's your favorite major "2nd generation" Muppet that fell into obscurity?

For the purposes of this poll, I've defined "2nd generation" as a character that was introduced between the mid-'80s and Muppets Tonight, and was considered a main or recurring character in the franchise until they were largely phased out after Wizard of Oz. Pepe, Bobo, and Carl survived the great purge of '05, while those listed below weren't so lucky aside from a cameo or two. I believe covered all the bases, but I put in "other" just in case I missed one.

are the muppets dead?

with the muppet vision 3D closing and every muppet TV show within the last 10 years cancelled after 1 season is it over? I love the muppets so much it genuinely hurts to think of them ā€œdyingā€ or retired due to the general public not caring about them anymore :,(

Creature Shop Challenge

Just finished rewatching and as someone who was 14 when it first came out and am nearly 25 now, man I love this show. Why oh why was it cancelled!!! Wish I was a millionaire so I could single handedly use all my money to finance infinite more seasons. Robertā€™s lily pad creature in the swamp episode remains undefeated in my eyes. Insane.

Brian Henson if youā€™re reading this please bring it backkkk!!!

Just had to get that out of my system.

Theory: Matt Vogel's Kermit feels off, because it's not Kermit

Kermit has actually been replaced by Constantine for a second time. This time the Disney execs know and are helping. That's why they're keeping "Kermit" out of the spotlight while he "nails it".

Disney Adaptation #4: The Muppets Present: Bambi

Hello everyone! I am continuing my trend of having the Muppets adapt every major Disney movie (excluding anthology films and some lesser known movies). Today we are doing Bambi. Clearly I took a LOT of liberties with the source material, because Bambiā€™s meandering plot doesnā€™t mix well with either the Muppetsā€™ mayhem or what kind of movies do well today.

Bambi (portrayed by a deer muppet) is born in the forest to a mom (deer muppet) and dad (deer muppet). He is the prince of the forest.

Throughout Bambiā€™s childhood, he is very close to his parents. We see him spending time playing with the forest and meeting his group of friends. There is Kermit (a frog), Fozzie (a bear), Gonzo (we donā€™t know what he is), and Animal (initially thought to be a terrifying monster by the rest of the forest, but is actually quite friendly).

One day, while playing, the group stumbles upon a petting zoo at the edge of the forest. There they see Miss Piggy, Andy Pig, and Randy Pig. Miss Piggy is smitten with Kermit. The group reveals that the owner of the petting zoo treats them terribly. Miss Piggy has dreams of being free to live a life of love and laughter, and Andy and Randy want to be free to be monster truck drivers. The group is able to break out the pigs fairly easily, but donā€™t get to help the other animals before the owner (portrayed by a human actor) comes to chase them. The group escapes. Andy and Randy leave to pursue their dreams and Miss Piggy becomes a part of the group.

The petting zoo owner is furious. He decides he needs to find new animals to replace the ones he has. He goes into the forest and almost captures Bambi. However when his parents step in to try and save them he sees they would be better draws and takes them instead. Bambi is heartbroken as his parents are taken away and his friends comfort him and assure him they will do something about it.

Bambiā€™s parents are in the petting zoo along with the chickens (featuring Camilla), Rowlf, Link Hoghtbrob, Bean Bunny, Pepe, and the Koozebanians. They miss their son and start singing the lullaby they used to sing to him when they are little. The petting zoo owner realizes their talent and forces them to sing regularly in the petting zoo. They end up drawing large audiences and making the petting zoo owner a lot of money.

The group plans a heist to try and break Bambi out but if fails miserably when they realize all the extra safeguards the petting zoo has installed since the pigsā€™ escape. His henchman (the pirates from Muppets Treasure Island) are also on patrol. The Muppets decide a different approach.

They go as ā€œMuppet Manā€ with Kermit being the head. They ask if they can buy back Bambiā€™s parents (Miss Piggy has a small savings amount she reluctantly agrees to use to help the cause). The petting zoo owner immediately recognizes them but doesnā€™t say anything. He ends up telling them that they can buy back the deer, but he needs one million dollars. The Muppets are gobsmacked. They leave, Bambi saddened by watching his parents forced to sing for an audience.

Fozzie laments that if only Bambi could sing like his parents theyā€™d have the money in no time. Miss Piggy starts singing to cheer the group up and Bambi joins in. They realize that Bambi does have talent and they should use that to earn the money.

They go into a bar in the nearby town for Bambi to audition for a singing gig. Miss Piggy, as comedic effect, also auditions. Howard Tubman is the bar owner and Scooter is coordinating the auditions. Also there are auditioning are the rest of the Electric Mayhem, Mahna Mahna and the Snowths, Bobby Bensonā€™s Baby Band, Marvin Suggs and his Muppaphone, and Geri and the Atrics. Bambi impresses everyone and is immediately hired. We see him become a sensation, and he ends up earning enough money to save his parents.

However, when the group goes with the money, they let us slip Bambi got it through his singing. The petting zoo owner not only doesnā€™t let Bambiā€™s parents go, but he takes their money AND captures Bambi as well. Bambi is with his parents. It they are prisoners. Through all the commotion of getting Bambi into a cage and his friends resisting, Bean Bunny is able to escape unnoticed.

Kermit, Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie, and Animal, are downtrodden, but Bean Bunny catches up with them. He says he can help them using what he knows about the zoo to help rescue not only Bambi and his family but all the animals. The group, coupled with some of their new friends from the auditions, plan an elaborate Muppet breakout.

An action scene shows everything going according to plan but at the last second the petting zoo owner thwarts them. Bambi and his parents are able to escape but not the rest of the animals. Bambi refuses to leave them, saying in his mind they are all members of the forest and he cannot leave them. At the last second, Andy and Randy Pig come in on monster trucks, destroying the electronic security system and causing the henchmen to scatter.

The film ends with a montage of the petting zoo animals living in the forest with the rest of the muppets. We also see the Koozebanians in court, testifying the petting zoo owner kept an exotic animal in captivity.

Muppets Christmas Carol

During the opening song there is a little person who drops change in a box. I was looking and couldn't find his name. This will drive me crazy until I find out. Or if anyone can help me out.

Frank Oz on character voices.

Iā€™ve never posted anything on Reddit (and told myself I never would), but when I see the all-too-frequent posts slamming a certain performer, all I can think about is this clip.

You donā€™t have to agree with Frank 100% (idk that I do), but he makes a very good point about puppetry as an art form. Thereā€™s a reason these people are called ā€œpuppeteersā€ or ā€œperformersā€ and not ā€œvoice actors.ā€ They donā€™t ā€œvoiceā€ characters; they perform them.

I just want this to be considered every time we talk about ā€œthe voice.ā€
