Today this exact kick ruined my sparring session so I guess I had to at least ask for some advices somewhere 😭
Broke my middle right finger in training yesterday trying to catch a medicine ball. I know it sounds dumb but I really can’t pull out as I’ve put in so much work and effort into this fight camp. Anyone gone in to fights before with similar injuries and any advice ?
Sorry for my bad english in advance.
Wondering how your transition to MMA went if you did that.
I've been training Muay Thai for a year now definetly not the best at it but it got me in shape and I'm feeling really confident on the feets. I have my first amateur fight scheduled in a month and I can't wait.
I always wanted to try MMA, I like Muay Thai but I have a lot of interest for that sport, since I am a huge UFC fan. I am thinking about cancelling my gym membership after my fight for an MMA gym
I want to know everything, how it went for you, what discipline you learned first (wrestling or bjj) and how your Muay Thai skills translated.
any suggestions please?
Hey guys, anyone of you using a fitness tracker during Muay Thai training? Is there anything small which could go underneath the gloves?
I’m going to be unable to train at my gym for around 4-5 weeks due to being out of town, and wanted to ask for any tips on structuring individual training sessions. I was planning on having a warmup, then going into shadow boxing and footwork drills, then wrapping up with some cardio (unfortunately do not have access to heavy bag). Does this sound like a decent structure, and is there any specific drills you would recommend?
can someone more knowledgeable summarize the recent changes regarding sweeps/dumps and the particulars to the techniques (I heard you can no longer post your foot on opponent and everything needs to be in a kicking motion)?
So i started muay thai and honestly fell in love with it. The only thing that gets me is trying to find a partner every class I get so anxious/afraid to ask since I don't know anyone and when I do ask it seems everyone's already set up with a partner and I end up waiting for the coach to find me one. Is there any way to go about finding a partner better or just getting over the anxiety?
Hi everyone,
Newer to Muay Thai and have been training about two months. I currently use the super rare pro gel but find that my hands hurt after sessions on the bag and the wrist strap on these gloves are pretty far down which doesn’t help me when it’s time to clinch. Looking for a good glove recommendation that is good for bag work and sparring as well!
Does anyone know of any good punchers gloves that are good for Muay Thai? I am currently thinking of either the fairtex bgv6s, or even a pair of cletos sinces they open up well and in the Velcro version you can move your wrist around alot. Any one have any other suggestions?
Everyone has their own reasons of why they started training, mine was just the simple fact of being able to defend myself and having that confidence.
Along the way I always found myself getting to the gym whenever something didn't go my way in life. And for sure I wouldn't like to know where I'd be without it!
Can't put my finger on it exactly, I'd love to hear some other POV.
I plan to mention this topic on my newsletter.
Is the Jocky Gym still operating?
Anyone have him on Facebook? What’s the deal? Dude seems like he’s going through some stuff and letting us all know but not giving any context. Hope he’s alright!
im having two fights this Sunday. The thing is i lifted weights during Saturday did some conditioning etc and now my entire body is sore. I also have to do my last sprints at Tuesday and Wednesday in order to finish my training camp + one light sparring session. Any tips on how can i recover fast?
I've just started box fitness, which has a lot of partner work and constant swapping between gloves and pads.
10 years ago I broke my knuckle, bare-knuckle boxing. I want to be careful I'm providing myself enough protection.
I LOVE the look of the Fortress Boxing T1 fast wraps but I dont like the idea of needing extra time between sets as I'm struggling to even be ready with my gloves on time, let alone re putting these on.
I imagine they wouldnt fit under my new Evo pads, I bought these on amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0B3N7L4FR?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
I find the standard hand wraps confronting and taking way too much time to put on. Is there a good faster solution?
I've come across a title holder from this organization. I know it's in one of the smaller leagues, but how legitimate is it? And how impressive would it be for someone to win two gold medals in it? their insta : official_wmf
Hi all,
I am new to muay thai I have started 2 months ago and I would say i’m in a pretty good spot. I am planning on having my first fight in roughly April time. Currently I am training 4x a week with 3 of them being sparring and 1 being drills. I also swim 5km once a week.
I was wondering to prepare for my fight in April what should i be doing on top of the training I am already doing?
Any further recommendations?
All help is appreciated!
I was reading some background details on fighters and it interested me how there are so many organizations and belts flying around. I know boxing is bad with the "alphabet belts" but Thai and K1 also have a couple dodgy ones.
Iny my opinion, the ISKA and WBC Thai belts are a step below the major promotion belts, like Glory, ONE and RWS. I'm in the UK and a lot of guys have WRSA World Titles or ICO Championship belts and I've never even heard of those
Just feels like there are so many European and World Champions over here. WKA, WKO, WKU, ICO, WRSA, TMA, WAKO and more I could easily list off. Everyone is a world champ these days. Not to mention these world champs have maybe 3 or 4 international opponents and don't really fight outside the UK yet they are a WORLD CHAMPION...
Do other countries also do this?
32 years old been training on and off for past four years never did any point competitions or smokers I just jumped right in and did my first sanctioned match. I’m not looking for any sympathy I’m proud of everything I did. I’m just kind of letting steam off, but I have 8 stitches in my shin 3 days prior to the match from a foolish skirmish I tried to walk away from. I work overseas so I pretty much did my own training camp alone I work on ships so I only got 6 days of sparring in prior to the event. I trained for 75 days straight one rest day a week 3x a day along with working 12-14hr days. I caught a clean kick to the head which was a nice ending to his combo 2nd round got back up and finished the third with my guns blazing I just couldn’t go out like a punk. Thanks for reading all of my bs story I’m not stopping I’m going back in strong and more motivated. Now I know and understand the difference between people who train and people who fight. Shouts out to all the Dawgs out there putting in the work and stepping in that ring win lose or draw.
I have small hands, can I use 16oz gloves?
Hey y’all. So here’s a question that might seem a bit odd but it’s something I’m struggling with. When front kicking my toes aren’t super flexible and don’t really stretch back much so I don’t end up landing cleanly with the ball of my foot and more often than not it’s my toes connecting(it’s a super tricky technique especially when trying to sneak my foot in while roundhouse kicking to the body). Now obviously that’s super painful and even caused me to miss some sessions at some point cause of lingering pain. Does anyone have any tips for A) More flexible toes B) More durable toes so that it doesn’t hurt as much.
Any tips/workouts that could help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
