This is New York, boy
We wanna hear you talk, boy
This is New York, boy
You ain't never gonna walkDowntown they got some guy
Shot forty-seven people on a PCP high
Uptown they got a team from Queens
Busy beating people through a mean machine, yeowYou had a shot at a thing called love
In the Hollywood hills
You can't help but follow that love
Even if it killsThis is New York, boy
Murder one in court, boy
This is New York, boy
You ain't ever gonna walkYou were a rebel in a drum town, son
Somebody loaded up the plastic gun
I seen that monkey got you shooting in your blood
Using bullets from the dumb dumb clubYou had a shot at a thing called love
In the Hollywood hills
You can't help but follow that love
Even if it kills

What is this high whistle like instrument that Thomas Newman uses in many of his scores?

Can anyone tell me what this solo instrument is that Thomas Newman uses fairly often in his scores. It's one of his signature sounds. You can hear it on the following pieces. It's the higher whistle type sound. I thought it could maybe be a Theremin or even maybe electric guitar swells with heavy delay and reverb while using an E-Bow. That's the only thing I can think of.

Passengers - The Starship Avalon at 1:12 - 1:39.
Finding Dory - (Main Title) - 0:19 - 0:49
Wall - E - Define Dancing 0:36 - 0:43 (this is where it kinda' sounds like guitar as it walks down.)

Looking for Spinderella in Clueless!!

Hello! First post, but I’ve done all the solo research I can, and I want to see if anyone has any leads.

During the scene in Clueless where Cher is trying to impress Christian by sending herself flowers, there’s a song playing. All the lyrics hears are, “He’s got the finest face I’ve ever seen, and the body to go with it, I’m telling you he’s mean..”

This is a clip from ‘Ain’t Nuttin’ Wrong’ by Spin (or DJ Spinderella). Apparently Salt N’ Peppa sang on the track, leading to a disagreement over who had rights to it. The song wasn’t credited on the Clueless soundtrack and there are no recordings that I’ve been able to find.

I really can’t overstate how much I want to hear this song, if anyone has an idea of how I could find it I would be ETERRRNALLLLLY grateful!!!

Best Mission Impossible Theme?

What's the best version of the Mission Impossible theme song? Doesn't have to be from the movies, it could be a cover too. Just looking for a really great sounding version of it.

Searching for a movie OST

Hello, i'm looking for a movie OST, the song is played during music plays as a plan is put into execution, it goes like ah ah ah aaaaaaaah (it's just an instrument not a voice in my memories). I believe the movie isn't old like 2010-2024 and the song is played twice or more as the plan is getting executed. Also i believe it's on a action movie (maybe a heist or something like that). To finish i think that part of the song is the beginning of the song and it's a pretty famous song

Thanks for your help and sorry for my english

Walls of Freedom Soundtrack

Does anyone know where I can find recordings of the music from Scott Gaffney's Walls of Freedom (1995)? Dishwalla is on Spotify and most of Cardiff Reefers' stuff is on Soundcloud, but I've struggled to find a lot of the other songs and bands. I'm specifically interested in Candy O'Toole.

Here is the discography from the film:

  1. The Feeder - Dishwalla
  2. Beads - Mighty Kong
  3. Way It Should Be - Cardiff Reefers
  4. Full Time - Cardiff Reefers
  5. Haze - Dishwalla
  6. 4 Ever - Candy O'Toole
  7. Happy 4 U - Candy O'Toole
  8. Deglam - Mighty Kong
  9. BFD - Cardiff Reefers
  10. Nevada Song - Ape Hangers
  11. Blue About the World - Cardiff Reefers
  12. Black Rain - Cardiff Reefers
  13. Fuzz Factory - Love Battery
  14. Counting Blue Cars - Dishwalla
  15. Devil's Diary - The Caulfields
  16. Let It Go - Carnival of Souls
  17. She Remembers - Candy O'Toole

Possibly a cliche question, but best movie soundtracks of all time?

Soundtrack or score, either is ok, so you could say Star Wars or guardians of the galaxy. Me personally, I haven’t seen all that many movies compared to most people I think, but out of what I’ve seen, I’d have to go lord of the rings, pirates of the Caribbean, rocky 1-5, planet of the apes remake, lion king 1994. (You don’t have to do 5, those were just my top 5)

How quickly could you guess the movie if you heard a song from the soundtrack?

I came across a game that plays a famous song from the soundtrack of a movie, and you have to try to guess what movie it's from in 4 guesses or less!

A new "needle drop" challenge is released every day, at the end, you can share your score (like with Wordle)! You can also go back and play the archives.

Sharing because my friends and I used to do something like this for fun, where we'd play songs off Spotify and the first one to scream out the correct answer wins, but now there is an ACTUAL APP FOR IT!

It's called NeedleDrop :) Thought you all would enjoy! Cheers!

Piano Music in Foe

Desperately trying to find this music. Hoping perhaps this is the place.

The new movie, Foe, has a scene where the wife plays the piano. I love the music! I’d like to get the sheet music but Shazam came up empty and it wasn’t in the music credits. Any suggestions or ideas?

Unknown version of a song from Hardcore (1979) by Paul Schrader

Hello! Yesterday I was watching Hardcore (1979) by Paul Schrader, and in one scene I heard a song in spanish that I really liked, but when I tried to look for it, I didn't find any results.

The song is the one that starts at the 35:10 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76gmo2EHY8I

Fooling around on the internet, I found that the original song was in french, is called "Fais La Rire", was composed by Danyel Gérard and Ralph Bernet, and sung by Herve Vilard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy-3TyWyex8

Searching a bit more on discogs via the credits of the song, I found that there are many versions of this song in different languages.

Herve Vilard (Spanish): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1eolGZ0N7A

Little Tony (Italian): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlYQDtIopdc

Enrique Guzman (Spanish): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AvIMuN6ov8

Ed Evanko (English): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1hJhZ70Axk

Sandra Reemer (Dutch): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q9lnHfq0nc

Jaime Morey (Spanish): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkDkQaV3Snk

Udo Jürgens (German): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgx3yYGQtCk

Lluís Olivares (Catalan): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYnu9Ga0Fc8

Alfonso (Spanish): https://www.discogs.com/master/653113-Alfonso-Con-Tu-Amor-Cuatro-Razones

The last one I had to ask a person who had the Single on discogs because there's no video of it on the internet, and he told me that that is not the version of the movie.

To make the things a little harder, the OST of the movie was never released officially and the song doesn't appear in the movie credits.

Other thing is, I'm a native spanish speaker and if you listen carefully, is sung in broken spanish, then I can imagine that it was sung by someone that doesn't speak spanish.

So, there are 2 options, this version of the song it's from an artist that's not even on the internet or it was made for the movie and it's just a snippet, if someone can help me to solve this mystery I would be very grateful.

Trolls Band Together: Soundtrack

https://preview.redd.it/6thit24mnmec1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a5c426a355c3cf24a4acad3aaaa4c4440ed1441

Recently, the movie "Trolls Band Together" has blown up on the internet. Specifically, their soundtracks and music.

Trolls, known for their mischief, mayhem, and exciting adventures (with a side of bops that'll loop in your head) it's easy to see why the Trolls trilogy has taken the internet by storm.

An iconic trilogy based on tiny, quirky characters that are the trolls. The movies themselves, with it's whimsical animation to the infectious, upbeat musical rhythm and rhyme, it manages to not only entertain, but also tug at the audience's heartstrings, leaving audiences with a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Music plays an essential part to the movies, as music is a part of the Troll's identities. There is a range of diverse trolls that represent different genres of music. Particularly, the music score of "Trolls Band Together" has captured the attention of children and adults alike. The vibrant, toe-tapping soundtrack adds an extra layer of joy to the narrative.

The movie features singles such as "Brozone's Back", "Mount Rageous", and "Better Place" (the soundtrack will be listed below if you're interested in listening to them). Specifically, "Better Place" and "Brozone's Back" are trending on all sorts of platforms such as TikTok and Youtube. "Brozone's Back" with 1.4 million views on Youtube, and "Better Place" has 4.2 million views on YouTube. Hundreds of choreography and dance videos were posted with the songs mentioned. I myself, have found myself listening to all three of these songs, along with other songs featured in the film, various times. "Trolls Band Together" is a feel good, makes-you-want-to-dance type of film.

Overall, the Trolls trilogy is an encapsulating, and fun, enchanting film that displays how music can bring all different types of people together. Whether it's for the animation or the soundtrack, maybe the memes or even TikTok trends.

Misfits (2021) mediocre movie, badass church scene mystery music

Looking for help finding the song playing in the background on the 2021 movie “The Misfits”. About 5:25 in. A bell tolls, it cuts to Violet in the church. She cracks her neck, lights a candle, and gets ready to kick some ass. It’s ambient and just has such a mood!! Tia.

Which movie?

Hey,

Does anyone know what movie this piece of music is used in? I've searched high and low but can't find anything. But I've also convinced myself that it's used in a pretty famous movie (maybe only a trailer?). I feel like it's in a Christopher Nolan movie in one of those scenes where shit is about to go down (or something like that)
