Thoughts on the Vitus Mythique VRS 29?

Im planning on what kind of bike I could get after my Trek Marlin 6. As I dont have enough budget for a good, new full suspension bike I am looking at second hand options, and the Vitus Mythique VRS 29 is regularly available for quite a good price. Is that a good bike from a Marlin 6? And what are your overall thoughts on the bike?

QR x 141?

Is this boost quick release rear hub?

Never heard. Is this something dead tech, that should be avoided on all costs?

I was going to buy GT Avalanche Sport 2022, to get back on modern MTB feel. Mainly for fitness biking around the woods.

Used market here have nothing better to offer at my price range.

Not great parts on it, but i have already 1x10 full deore groupset collecting dust, so i can change them.

Thanks.

Enduro MTB race in Slovenia - Borovci 2024

Whoever got scared off by the weather forecast, messed up for this one. The second round of the 2024 series took place in Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia, in cool temperatures and on a track that was at best too dry.

After Saturday’s training, 220 riders from eight countries took to the track on a cold Sunday morning. Under the pine trees above Ilirska Bistrica, the riders were faced with 1,200 metres of climbing and descending and five special stages on a 29 km long circuit

Teach an old dog new tricks-Why did I get a dropper post again?

Old timer here with a year old Fuse sport that came with a dropper post seat, getting ready for season 2. I think the point of it is to get the seat out of the way, but it's not in my way. Maybe I'm not going down steep enough steeps, or up steep grades, or flying over jumps, but I'm not getting the purpose of this damn thing. And the other thing is, It's just not coming natural to actually use it, I find it fucks up my ride because I'm concentrating on when to put it up and down and it fucks up my timing and distracts me. and slows me down. Last year I found that I rarely used it. Maybe because I grew up riding bikes without droppers and it's just not coming naturally. Any of this sound familiar? Any tips, or just keep trying to use it until it becomes habit?

Propain sucks.

So a bit of a long story. I ordered a custom tyee back on February 23rd. After the expected delivery date with nothing to show for it, I emailed someone there and was told that they were a little behind and that the expected build date was march 15th, and they would let me know if anything changes which sounded great to me. It's now April 1st, no one emailed me, no bike has been delivered, so I emailed again asking if anything is on back order or there is any part I can change to speed up this process. They tell me that It's actually the frame, I had ordered the matte black alloy with an oil slick head tube badge and silver graphics. They told me that the black and silver frames wouldn't be in for another 2-3 weeks, which I took as meaning It would be another month or two before I actually get my bike. I was told that I could switch to the olive green frame to speed up the process, so I did. I switched the graphics and badge to matte black aswell. Not that I really wanted to, but I'd prefer to stop waiting. It's now the 23rd so I know that the black frames must be in stock by now, and for the past week I have been trying to cancel my order because at this point I'd rather just buy from a different brand. They are straight up ignoring my emails, I have a call booked for the 29th and I think it's ridiculous to wait another week to finally cancel this.

Looking for first bike advice

I’m looking to buy my first mountain bike and am a little overwhelmed with all the options. I’d like to keep it around $1000 if possible but could spend a bit more if it’s really worth it. Mostly want to do some cross country dirt trail riding but would like something that can do some downhill as I’d like to try that out more as it looks pretty fun. Mostly just not sure if I should go for a full suspension or hard tail.

There’s a local bike shop near me selling a 21’ Giant Stance 2 on clearance for $1000 that looks tempting for the price. Otherwise I’ve seen some used Trek Roscoes on marketplace for about the same price if I wanted to go with a hardtail. Thanks for the help!

What happened to Friday fails.

Is it just me, or has there been no Friday fails for the past few weeks. I noticed that pinkbike did do a few shorts but no full length videos. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know because I’m starting to get nervous.

Just trying to save this MTB trail

New to mountain biking, and I am just trying to save a local MTB trail. The trail has been created and maintained by volunteers, and recently the county has approved an archery range and disc golf course that will overlap the trail. The bike trail got verbal approval process 10 years ago when the complex first opened, but didn't go through their "new" approval process like the archery range and disc golf. They claim they didn't know the trail existed at the time the decision was made, but are seemingly not willing to reevaluate now that they do. We continue to have meetings, but so far have been encouraged to "compromise" and "coexist” by their definition, they have said we will likely have to cut away some of the trail. It's only 5 miles long and with both the disc golf and archery range- there won't be much room left for us. I have a petition started, but really am looking for any resources someone may have or suggestions? Parks and Rec came out to see the trail themselves, and said they didn't see any issues with the vehicle tracks all over the trail and clear disruption of what was once well compacted soil. The vehicle tracks are prominent due to archery needing a "maintenance trail" as well as several "archery lanes" that cut across the trail. We argued it was causing confusion among riders. To that they said they would place more signs. We also argued it could potentially cause erosion. We don't stand much of a chance being that the archery member is a commissioner who said we “shouldn't be complaining" and that he "can put a motion to shut the trail down if we keep on. “

Please comment for any suggestions, advice, or any factual arguments we can present to a biased committee that will vote on the future of this trail.

Mount a FOX fender to a Öhlins fork

I have a FOX fender that was on my 38 and I'm wondering if I can fit it onto my Ohlins RXF38. I've seen the mudhugger bolt on converter but I'm not sure it works for the fender from FOX. Has anybody been able to mount a FOX fender to a Ohlins fork?

New Bike Help

Hey all, just wanted a bit of advice. I currently have a Kross Hexagon, I use it for commuting and trail riding with a mix of climbs and downhill sections. I'm considering getting a rock hopper however I have always loved the P series from Specialized and knew a few people with P1's around 16 years ago and absolutely fell in love with it however I don't really do much in the way of jumps at the moment, my riding would probably consist of trails, smaller jumps and commuting still, would the P1 be a waste of money?

Edit: after doing a bit more research I'd be looking at a P.4 for the increased size.

First EMBT + Canyon deals. Need help with fast decision.

Hello,

I recently moved to the Jura region in France (Pays de Gex). I want to buy a mountainbike. Several people have suggested me to buy an EMTB as it would be helpful for commuting as well.

I was planning on testing my first rental e-bike next Wednesday, however I see that Canyon has some sales going on right now that end tonight. I would normally test some bikes before buying something, but there's some 1000€ savings going on... Plus, I'd save all of the rental costs... Since it's my first emtb, I doubt that I'd learn much about different kind of brands, but please correct me if I'm wrong. After I get experience, I could always sell the bike and buy something more fitted.

Would you take this opportunity and skip the rental process? Or would it be better as a beginner to test some stuff? I know for sure that I will like the sport. I've done some MTB'ing 10 years ago but the country were I lived doesn't have a lot of trails.

I would deeply appreciate your input. Thanks!

Optional question

If you still have some time, which would be the better fit? The Neuron:ON or the Spectral:ON?

The Neuron:ON seems the most versatile "beginner" bike. However, I don't like the fact that you can't remove the battery.

The Spectral:ON seems like the best bike for the region but it may be overkill as I lack the skill to fully make use of it. Also, I've never ridden a mullet setup before. I want to use the bike for commuting as well (8km ride) with a child "shotgun" seat. I don't know if a mullet affects this.

What is “slopeduro”?

I’ve heard it around, never seen it. What is it? What’s the travel? What does it compare to? Could any bike be a slopeduro bike? What makes a slopeduro bike different? Is a slopeduro bike an enduro bike?

Would you rather

Sell a really amazing condition boost wheelset 29” front and rear wtb i25’s with tires, 10 speed advent x shifter, derailleur and chain. Probably get ($220) usd on marketplace after 100 + ghosts and lowballs.

Or

Give it away the groupset to my brother in law and keep the rims as spares.

Bike Geometry Reach - from where to where?

Where does the stated reach start on a bike? Does it include the stem and handlebar the bike comes with?

Obviously there is seat tube length but how much or why does it matter?
