Trackdays You can ride ANY motorcycle at the track, but do check with the specific organizations to be sure (limitations are usually only on bikes below 125cc- see Kart tracks below if your bike is "too small"). Some rent bikes, tire warmers, generators, and leathers. All should provide gas, tire and suspension services trackside and sometimes help with minor repair issues (missing bolts, bent levers, etc).
Kart/Mini Tracks Best suited for smaller/low cc bikes and Super Motos. Typically provide fewer or no services (no tires, suspension, gas, etc).

Took a small stone to the front wheel and got a dent. Anyone you guys recommend for wheel repairs? Preferably near Culver City?
Hey guys looking for a tuner in Southern California, I have a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 750. Specifically looking for rev limiter, pops and fire. I have a full exhaust, power commander 3 and other modifications already installed. Any tips on a shop I can find or should I send my ECU to Moore Mafia for a flash?
I went to the store on my bike instead of car because the weather app said no rain, none expected hourly and none in the next 10 days. I come out of the store (Atwater) and it is a nice soaking rain that stays constant for my entire 40 minute drive home. I get home (Frogtown) check the weather app and it turns out I must have been seeing things because the weather app still says no rain, none in the last 24 hours and none in the next 24hrs and none in the next 10 days. But why are my pants and gloves and helmet and jacket wet?
My job is currently remote but I may have to start going into the office 5x/week soon, which would involve commuting between DTLA and Santa Monica. 95% of the route would be on the 10. Rush hour traffic obviously sucks, and the Expo line takes over an hour each way, but I figure lane-splitting would cut that to like 30 minutes each way, so it's the ultimate LA traffic cheat code.
Until recently I had a Honda CB300R, which was my first bike, but it got stolen. I had done some freeway lane-splitting with that on occasion. The Honda was very nimble, so it worked well for that at lower speeds, but it got pretty buzzy at high speeds and there was definitely a sense of holding on for dear life.
Now I'm trying to decide what kind of bike would work best if I do in fact have to start commuting every day. I'm prioritizing comfort, convenience, reliability, and (relative) safety. I'm thinking along the lines of:
That stretch of the 10 doesn't have an HOV lane, so lane-splitting between the 1&2 lanes requires something pretty narrow and nimble. Basically, what are the trade-offs between the comfort of something slightly larger/more cruiser-like vs. the nimbleness of something smaller? And would a maxiscooter easily capable of highway speeds fit the bill better than either one of them (dorkiness factor aside)?
(Also, are scooters any safer in terms of leg injuries?)
Thanks!
Anyone planning to take the one day course in March at Buttonwillow?
As I write this, im in a world of hurt. Seperated shoulder, cracked sternum, concussion, can barely walk or move, getting xrays of my spine today. I crashed, hard. But the more I think about the crash, the more frustrated I become. I hired a bike from a motocross rental company at Fox Raceway, Cali. Im visiting from Australia and always wanted to ride some Cali tracks. They supply bike and gear, you just show up.
This is my first time riding a dirtbike in over 10 years, but before that I had some decent experience.
I told the owner that im a heavier dude (100kg/ 220llbs). My fitness isnt great, but its not terrible, I ride a lot of MTB.
He had a lineup of bikes, and said this particular CRF450 was setup for heavier riders, so that would be my bike for the day. Did a few laps, first things I noticed was that I couldnt arch my foot back enough to reach the back brake, I would have to entirely take my foot off the peg. I also found that the smallest bumps (like hitting a small woop or rolling a table) would send a hard jar up my wrists. No where as near forgiving as I remember dirtbikes. I went back to the trailer, and asked if I could adjust the back brake to be lower. A younger guy working for him goes to clower the clutch. The owner corrects him and says "the foot brake" - the younger guy then goes to adjust the wrong bike. Anyway, I find out the last rider was really short so thats why the lever was high (im only 5 foot 6) I mentioned that it was killing my arms and wrists and the owner just laughed. I did a few more laps, the owner came and watched a filmed with his phone a little, and feeling better on the bike, clearing tables and doubles (which was a bit smoother on the arms), but the bar position/ lever height was annoying me.
I go back to trailer and grab a tbar and roll the bars forward, the bars were back a bit and the levers were pretty horizontal. I like to be forward/ over the front of the bike. A guy (who doesnt ride and does not know his way around a bike) who works with him said that the last person who rode the bike was a kid, so everything is still set up for a short dude.
I do a bit more riding, nearly every jump is just a hard hit up my arms though. I have a lunch brake, when I come back the owner says " take this bike for a spin" - is a '25 crf450. Man, that bike was a completely different bike is supension alone, I could finally complete a lap without my arms falling off. I rode back to the trailer and said this bike feels so much better, I just need to adjust the levers. The owner tells me im not adjusting the levers (they are way too high) as its his bike, and I dont know how to ride properly. I said the suspension is so much smoother/ more forgiving and he finally says "I will soften your bike back a few clicks"
Only to find out, its at its dead softest compression setting all round! The jarring I was getting was from the bike bottoming out. Im focusing on just trying to get used to riding again after 10 years off a bike, it didnt occur to me the slapping and jarr through my wrists was from it bottoming out constantly - I was told it was set up for heavier riders. The owner stiffened the suspension by a few clicks and said "take that for a spin".
I go out, and overjump a table top a bit. It wasnt that high of a table (more a long jump than high), and I pull up a bit as I land and give her some revs, and grip the bike - I honestly wasnt that worried about it. But the second I land my hands blow off the bars and im thrown off the bike. I rag dolled and bike cartwheeled (cudos to fox racewat medics - they are awesome)
I cant help to think that had the suspension been set to my weight, or even if I was on the other bike, I wouldnt of crashed in this instance.
In a lot of the POV footage you can see its hitting hard on the smallest whoops or rollers, with the shadow looking like its completely bottoming out.
POV of the crash here at 1:42, these were some of the better moments of the day before the crash. : https://youtu.be/jlbJl6BQb2k
Some (owner sent way more, but I dont agree with them all) photos of the damage : https://www.instagram.com/p/DCsRvLmSOSi/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
He is asking me to pay to replace a lot of stuff. He sent photos of the torn seat (this was ripped like this before I even sat on the bike, I thankfully have proof of this), the exhuast (which was already heavily dented on the side), the rear rim (I dont believe I put that flat spot there. A rear wheel is stronger than that and I have screengrabs of what looks to be a flatspot already in the rear rim)
I havent got a full list yet but he is sending photos of scratches on plastics/ graphics on the bike. This bike was already well worn and abused.
Also, in a message from the owner, verbatim: "My buddy said you looked like Evil kanival way over hump with loop out Did look good but you got up"
I dont know how to take that - im in serious pain. 1, I didnt loop out, and 2, it looked good? But I got up? like what the hell?
Anyway, I would appreciate anyones thoughts on this - Im seriously thinking about pushing back against some of these repairs?
I have one of these ramps, they retail for $3K and I'm trying to find a place that might have more buyers that can use it. Any ideas in LA?
Is the stock one the only one that’s legal? Or what are the laws around exhaust pipes? Thank you
It’s a video but this sub doesn’t allow videos so screenshot is best I got.
I was coming to a T-intersection where a jackass in a corvette began to do a donut without realizing that there was traffic coming up behind him.
Careful up there, boys and girls. Especially on weekends. It’s full of these reckless people.
I started riding like 6 months ago and have been taking it slow and practicing since. Usually I ride alone along PCH and some of the fun canyon roads in Malibu on the weekends. I'm still not nearly confident enough to try lane splitting and whatnot but I'm having a blast!
Anyway somethings that's become super notable is all the other motorcyclists giving me a nod or wave, it really makes riding so much fun. I always feel bad if sometimes I miss a wave or don't wave back in time but I appreciate that every single time!! 💖
600 miles a week minimum. Mostly freeway use. Thoughts?
Buying my first bike since I moved to LA and I'm looking for a nice canyon route this weekend. Preferably under 2 hours, and don't worry about difficulty since I plan to take it slow.
Bonus points if it's easy to plug into Google maps!
Edit: Forgot how big it is here. Riding out of Exposition Park/usc area.
Part 2: Will try to kill two birds with one stone. If anyone has a room available for rent + a garage space in (Silver Lake / East Hollywood / Echo Park) let me know. I plan on wrenching on my bike in the time I’d be there
I have seen there seems to be a lot of motorcycle thefts. Do you all use chain locks, throttle locks, alarms?
Favorite scenic rides + street rides?
I have an antique tag now which made me not needing to have any kind of inspection in my state. Is that the same for California?
Events. Any specific meet ups you guys do here or anything in around LA for Harley meet ups, rallies or known shows?
Biker hang out spots? Could be as simple as a bar where people stop from their scenic route, moto enthusiast cafes or resteraunts, etc.
Mobile mechanics? Even with planning to mainting mine would be nice to know if you guys recommend anyone
It was quite cold up there… kept riding further but the temperature dropped quite drastically and need some thermals for the upcoming months…
If anyone down to show me a spot and maybe ride.
Anybody in DTLA?
I had a non-running, but mechanically sound bike in storage that was stolen ~6-10 weeks ago. It was recovered and impounded. They shaved the VIN off and after some back and forth proving ownership I am able to get it out
In order for me to get the bike out I need somebody present with a valid M1, which I no longer have. Haven't ridden since my accident 2 years ago and have no need for a car. All of my riding friends are out of town and its racking up daily storage fees
The bike is located at 2119 E 25th St, Los Angeles, CA 90058
Would anybody be willing to meet me there for ~10 minutes to get it released? No need to ride it/transport it for me. Willing to agree on payment to make it worth your time
Pic of bike in its better days for visibility
Hey guys. I have a 2024 ninja 1000sx and I want to get a full exhaust on it. As you all know California has blocked full exhaust installs. However I still see them around on the road. I was wondering how people are able to circumvent this law and give me some options. Thanks
¿Has any one gone biking along this roadway? I've been along the roadway in my car and saw it had a fair number of decently-paved sections, even with some sections of dirst and gravel-strewn pavement. I would imagine that, if taken at a slow and cautious pace, it could be done on a street-motorcycle.
Evening everyone it's Greyson
I want to take care of my motorcycle and I do not have the tools, knowledge, nor space to be working on my bike beyond washing a chain and changing my oil. I just took my bike to a place called Motorcycle Performance Services out in LA city and they changed my chain for a decent price (I provided parts).
The guy there said that I'm going to need my 'major' service done soon, since it appears the bike wasn't given its service from the previous owner and we're creeping up on the 25k mark on my 2021 Z400. He quoted me about 800-900 on it, which would include the valve check.
That's a steep price but I was prepared for that. His shop is a little far from me though, and I'd like to know if there are any other places in LA/Westside that you guys would take your bikes to for this service, and also what you would estimate is a good price for complicated jobs like valve adjustments and such.
Thank you,
Greyson
Hi everyone. I’ve been riding from a few months now and with autumn and winter coming soon I was thinking to buy some warmer gear. Los Angeles can get quite cold late at night in the winter, so since I also ride during those late hours I am looking for suggestions from you more experiences riders. Should I go with full padded winter gloves for example, or would that be an overkill? How do you guys layer to change during the different times of the day? Temperatures differences during the day are a bit crazy here! Any suggestion is welcome, thank you very much 🌴⛄️🌴
I was in Little Tokyo and decided to get some photos in. Hope you guys like it as I did.
All of the course options for 1 day certification from CMSP are $425. I understand safety is invaluable and whatnot, but that's a ridiculous amount of money. I took a safety course about 8 years ago for $125. More than 3x the price in 8 years??
Anyone know of alternatives in the LA area?
Hi I am a new rider and I have been riding my ninja 500 for the last 5 months all by myself. I have been looking all over the place for a rider buddy or a group that would let me join but nobody responds. If any of u guys would like to be weird everywhere just hmu pls. I’m located in Ktown LA…
Hey all, any recommendations for people to follow on instagram or youtube who make fun videos about riding motorcycles around the LA area?
This was removed from the losangeles sub reddit so hope it fits better here but still not really sure as I'm not part of the community and this technically happened west of diamond bar but....
To the 3 bikers west on 60 tonight around 930pm with a purple mustang guard.
Shout out to your driver bc he was an og tonight guarding yalls butts. I'm not a biker but I love seeing bikers on the highways but sometimes yall scare me bc you being small and all especially at night. Tonight on my way back to LA I saw some bikers west bound on 60 and yall were vibing. Took me a sec but realized a purple mustang was following you so figured they were your guard or something and boy howdy dude is an og. I was cruising behind yall for a bit when a white toyota(?) tried passing crossing 3 lanes very quickly and that mustang pulled out and legit swerved into the far lane to protect yall at his own potential detriment.
Give them a beer for me! Other cars had been passing you guys at a relatively (to someone in a car that's only been on a bike once) safe distance but that Toyota really tried pulling a fast one on yous.
Hope yall made it home safe.
Ps. If yous do be out there could I get a daylight pic of that mustang?
Hope I didn't break any rules....
I'm a little over 3 months into riding and have been really enjoying waking up early on weekends to ride to a breakfast spot. I'm trying to venture a little outside of LA as to challenge myself so do you all have any suggestions for diners/ breakfast spots/ little towns to check out?
Hey everyone,
Just rode my BMW RnineT down the PCH from BC, Canada to LA and I'm staying near Pasadena for the next couple of weeks before I head back. I wanna hit Mulholland Dr, Topanga and any other classic roads in the neighborhood.
I'm a decent rider that's been riding for 15ish years (male in my late 30s) but don't do anything too crazy (lanesplitting/filtering is new to me, and I typically don't go that far over the speed limits) let me know if there's any other cool kids that wanna go for a ride or go to any of the local bike hang outs.
