We felt a bit nostalgic and created a forum for motion designers. Come check it out and join the conversation!
I'm having a difficult time choosing a university and it's stressing me out since i've seen many tik tok's saying its bad. I just want to find something that's not in London and its hard knowing if i'm choosing the right uni. pls help :-:
My videos are done/filmed and cut but I want to add little cartoon style animated effects like questions marks or surprise lines. Little explosions, magic effects etc. All very childish and cartoony. Looking channels like Toys & Colors or Vlad & Nikki for inspiration.
I have AE because my family has Adobe Creative Cloud suite but I've never used it and it looks really daunting. I really just have one specific use case and I'm looking for advice as to if AE is the way to go - since I have it anyhow or maybe there's an easier path.
Like the music graphic here. that moves.
Ideally I could just have a collection of animations (like 50-100) that I could just drag and drop onto the video.
Very much appreciate any feedback & advice.
I realise this topic might have been discussed before but I really can't find a satisfactory answer.
I was made redundant 6 weeks ago and been forced back into freelancing until another permanent job comes along. The motion freelancing scene in the UK is as dead as anything. A recruiter might contact me with one opportunity a week and I don't hear back from them.
I'm trying to understand the reason why there is no work out there so I can better understand what to do about it. Bills need paying and the savings are about the run out.
I am told so many different reasons:
Why is it so bad now more than at any other time? Why now?
If I don't get work in the next month I'm going to have to stack shelves at the supermarket. It's never been like this.
I am a Year 1 student studying Graphics and Digital Design, and I'm looking to expand my portfolio using different softwares. Would I be able to create a lyric video for a song using after effects, or does it go against any copyright laws? I will not be advertising/ posting it anywhere (possibly only TikTok), and it will only be used in my portfolio. I'm aiming for it to be 15/20 seconds long.
Are there people who have bought a course at School of Motion? What do you think about this school and what was your experience?
I have been doing 3D animation and motion graphics for 11 years now and I am wondering if anyone has made lateral moves to other fields or found a niche in Motion graphics outside of advertising and if so...how? I enjoy the creative process of coming up with ideas and 'look dev' but for years now I have not had the motivation to be in a constant state of learning new techniques. I don't get excited seeing new tutorials in youtube. Every project I do, I simply try to do it in the easiest way possible to avoid headaches or troubleshooting.
I enjoy coming up with ideas, but I hate executing them. I hate the dread of 'oh god, how on earth am I going to achieve that look' or 'oh man, that is going to take forever to set up.' Mostly, I hate the 'ad agency' world and working for places that survive on a steady stream of idiotic clients. I have tried unsuccessfully to find 'internal' design positions within marketing teams at companies but those are becoming fewer and fewer as everything is farmed out, contracted, and spec' worked in a horrible race to the bottom.
I have been doing this for over a decade, but dread the thought of doing it another 20 years.
