Maybe there's a bigger picture to why we're being ravaged with a pandemic. Our day to day lives completely upended; our families separated and afraid. The article published in National Geographic today describes the border wall expansion continuing, despite this pandemic. Animals living near and around the area are being separated and cut off from their dens, nests and territories. But this isn't new. This isn't even shocking. Take a look around, you won't need to look far. The house/apartment/office you're sitting in right now was once a den, nest or animal territory. The street you drive down everyday, the grocery store you frequent and even your place of worship were all once leased by Mother Nature. Humanity has taken the kingdom away from the animals. It's been replaced with concrete and asphalt.. materials so cold and course we use rubber to protect ourselves from it. Everywhere I look I see a loss of nature. A retreat away from what's truly natural. I see pesticides, insecticides and death. And now in our time of crisis, desperation and decline I see Mother Nature. I see her face in every tree. I watch her crawl across every branch and inhabit every crevice. I hear her buzzing near flowers and chirping from the darkness. I see her in all of her resilience, adaptation all around and I am just the student to her lessons. We all are. Through this pandemic, she teaches us. She guides us through the dark. If only we were willing to learn. Look around today. Truly look around. Find Mother Nature and let her teach you.
