Morro Bay is a coastal city in California. It's known for Morro Rock, an ancient volcanic mound at the end of Morro Rock Beach. The rock sits within Morro Bay State Park, home to lagoons, trails and a bird-rich saltwater marsh. Morro Bay State Park’s Museum of Natural History features exhibits on ecology and local Native American culture. Trails lead up Black Hill for views over the city and Morro Bay.

Hello all,
I recently started a new nonprofit animal rescue in SLO county called Paddling Paws, and we frequently take our rescue dogs out on the water in Morro Bay standup paddle-boarding! We also host paddling events to raise awareness about California's homeless pet population and animal shelter crisis currently happening.
We are a completely foster-based rescue meaning we need a foster network to save animals! Fostering has many benefits for the animals and potential adopters as it is a much more stress-free environment for them, and we can learn a lot more about the animal to then ensure we place them with adopters that are a great fit & a happy forever home!
Becoming a foster is completely free-- all the food, bowls, toys, pet bed, and other pet supplies are covered by us, as well as medical of course! I also am happy to work with you to pick an animal you specifically want to foster (so if you are interested in a certain breed of pet or age, etc, we will work with you on all of that).
Fostering would be a great way to have a little companionship this holiday season or to do some good during this time of year. We plan to start pulling from high risk shelter environments, so we will truly be saving lives here. I just visited Avenal shelter this week and they have makeshift kennels everywhere for the overflow of dogs + dogs sitting outside in cages 24/7 despite it dropping to the 30s at night. I would love to get some babies out of there if we can.
If you are interested please feel free to email me at info@paddlingpaws.org, DM me on here or on our instagram paddling.paws! You can also visit our website: https://paddlingpaws.org/ !

I just moved to Morro Bay a few weeks ago. I've always been local, but finally was able to move down to the coast. I discovered Sammy J's and its still pretty brand new and I absolutely love this place! I'm looking to meet and hangout with people and this is a cool place to do so. Who wants to make a Sammy's crew? Lets do this!
Is everyone stuck with spectrum? Hoping for another option! Can’t afford to keep paying over $100 for internet please help
Top dog closed, I’m so sad. I loved that place. I wonder if it will be for sale…..?
I’ll be visiting soon and didn’t want to drive. Are there enough ride shares there to get around? I’ll be taking the train up the coast and arriving at the San Luis Obispo Train Station. Hotel is in the bay. Thanks in advance!
Hey everyone! Going to morro bay with my boyfriend for the weekend! We went a month ago and went whale watching and on the tiki boat but not sure what else there is to do other than the beautiful views! Any recommendations? Or hidden gems🙌🏼
Message me if interested :) we have to go see family suddenly and can't make it
Anyone know why that military helicopter has been circling low over town for a couple hours?
Does anyone have a method that works well in our sandy soil? Whenever I try to access the tunnel, my yard collapsed the tunnel.
My husband and I are traveling through the Morro Bay area in late September. We would like to stay at a slightly nicer hotel that won't break the bank. So far I've found two that sound OK and have reasonable weekday prices; The Hampton Inn and Best Western San Marcos. Any thoughts about these hotels, or perhaps another suggestion? We'd like to stay under $150, and would appreciate a place with a pool or spa (we both have arthritis; swimming or soaking in a hot tub helps the aches and pains).
Thanks in advance.
(Any recommendations for a good coffee place and restaurants also appreciated)

I'm local, but never go to MB. Local suggestions, please? I have Celiac disease but my family does not, options that are gluten-free friendly are appreciated!
Looking at this as a multi-year family project, but thinking about acquiring a small plot of land in Morro. What's it like building there? How are things like sewer, water, and electrical hookups (all three exist on the street adjoining the property)?
Are they pretty strict about WHAT you build? I'm looking to do a small 2.bed 2 bath with a big deck. Looking at some of the more modern steel-frame homes that exist now as an option.
Really trying to understand if this is purely a pipe dream or we can feasibly make it a reality
Are you or someone you know 14-21 years old, experiencing sad or irritable moods, and considering antidepressant medication? We’re currently recruiting adolescents (14-21yo) who are planning to start antidepressants prescribed by their providers for our 18-month paid study on mood and brain development!
Please share this post with anyone who might be interested! Thank you for helping us advance this important research!

I’m running out of options and don’t know where else to turn. I was helping my great grandmother go through some old coins when we came across a coin that says “Dorn’s Cafe” on the front and the back states “Good for 25 in trade.” I’ve called the restaurant, sent them a message on social media, but have not heard back. My great grandmother can’t remember anything about it, but now she’s invested in figuring it out. Everywhere I’ve looked leads me back to this cafe. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here we go again! If you live in or near the central coast, San Luis Obispo County, you can’t miss this #comicbooks expo! It’s being organized by a buddy of mine that presses #comics. Instagram handle is: underpressurepressing We expect a huge turn out due to it being in conjunction with the Kids Trading Day. There are already 15 booths booked including well known artists, and vendors that will be selling heavy hitter books. My buddy has huge aspirations to make a comic con in the central coast. “Central Coast Comic Con” he says “One day we will book the whole u/CaMidStateFair for the show” If this isn’t enough then check out the wine country here, we have hundreds of wineries and about a dozen breweries like u/FirestoneWalker and u/BarrelHouseBeer . Not to mention the amazing restaurants that are on the u/MichelinGuideNA If you want additional info or want a booth please call my buddy’s number on the flyer.
Wondering how busy the picnic tables w/bbq grill are in Tidelands Park are. Mom wants to have lunch there for her 85th birthday. Is 10:00 am too late to arrive to claim a table on an August Sat.?
Thanks!
