Has anyone purchased anything from Maison Bleue in Marrakech?

I'm considering buying a leather jacket but just want to ensure it's real. I'm not an expert at identifying and don't want to offend the owner, so I'm asking here if anyone has shopped there and may know?

If not, does anyone know of a decent place selling real leather jackets in Marrakech for reasonable prices after some bargaining?

Why is Zara more expensive in Morocco than in the U.S

Hi all, I live in America and have been to Morocco a few times (4 in the past 2 years ). I am a big Fashion guy and don’t often shop at Zara but I’m always curious to see what they have.

I have noticed that the prices in Morocco are higher than the prices ones I see in New York. Some Zara clothes are even made in Morocco and I’m wondering why that is ????

Anyone know why ? Zara is not an American brand either so why ??

Series/TV programs, in moroccan darija recommendations?

I am dating a moroccan male, he was born in Morocco but raised in Spain where we met. He speaks Arabic but only moroccan darija. I am learning to speak it so we can share that language but I am finding it difficult to find series/films or TV shows that have moroccan darija in it.

So far as I know there is a kind of more formal/dificult moroccan, but im triying to find darija content since its what I'm triying to learn.

Thankyou in advance, and apologies if I have said anything wrong, my first language is Spanish, not English.

    Shokran😊

    Gifts from Paris

Hello everyone, I'm currently in Paris for two weeks, and a friend of mine who has never been here keeps asking me to bring back gifts from shops that aren't available in Morocco. Every time I explain that I haven't gone shopping yet and that my budget is limited. This year has been tough financially, and I've lost all my savings, so I'm managing on 500-700 euros a week. I've already paid for the hotel, so it's challenging for me to afford shopping with this budget. Today, when I conveyed this to my friend, she left me on "seen", why would she just give me money so that i can buy her what she needs. It's frustrating because I'm not sure if people realize the financial strain they're putting on me. I feel overwhelmed and upset, wondering if I did something wrong by being honest about my limited budget. I genuinely want to buy gifts for everyone, but unfortunately, I just don't have the money. Please, if you were in my position, what would you do and how would you react?

Hi, I will be coming to marrakech next week and wanted some advice on how much things would cost and places to eat. How much should I be paying for taxi? Will they use the meter? What are the prices for the Moroccan thobes and the wooden boxes to give as gifts.

Visiting Morocco Over the Summer - What cities/activities to prioritize in a short trip

Hi everyone as stated in the title I am visiting Morocco with friends from Toronto in a few months. We will be flying in to Marrakesh on Monday evening and flying back out from there Sunday evening so I would say we have roughly 5.5 full days and would need to be in Marrakesh the first and last day.

We are basically having a lot of trouble deciding how to spend the time effectively. Everyone in the group wants to go out to the dessert for at least 1 night and ride 4x4's over the dunes. From what I've seen Merzouga is the place to go, but Agafay dessert is another option. Would it be worth all the travelling to go to Merzouga or is the Agafay Desert similar enough. Our general feeling is that the Sahara desert is must see.

Another issue is we want to see one of the coastal cities between Casablanca or Essaouira for the beaches. I think we are leaning Casablanca just because it is a bigger city and we would like to see the Hassan II mosque.

If anyone with experience could help guide us with what is worth doing, if we can even fit these things into our stay reasonably and the best methods of transport between these locations.

Also if theres anything we are missing that you would recommend instead I'd love to hear that too. I am aware we have very limited time but the main reason for our trip was our friend is getting married in the UK and we just added this leg of the trip on in addition.

Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions.

A random guy called me “frimija”… What does it mean?

It sounds like “fromage” (cheese) in French, but I don’t get why he would say it out of the blue… Does it have any other meaning?

Acamedic culture in Morroco? Is this that bad!?

Salam Aleykoum Drari! (Joke) I had the privilege to present in an academic conference in Morroco (i'm a MRE from Canada). And after it, I really can't pretend I understand what's going on hhh. The congress was great and I had beautiful experience meeting awesome individuals with whom I will collaborate in the future Incha Allag. BUT, In an informal talk, there's was a professor who boasted to me about publicly humiliating his thesis student with harsh comments because he was upset his student attended a conference without informing him, and he refused his thesis for over a year to 'teach him a lesson,' and he was particularly proud of causing him a 6 months depression... ha ha... okay, wrong audience." (Who does that?) He also took the liberty of imitating my accent after that and then went on a lyrical crazy flight about the importance of modesty. (Who does that again?!) And everyone around the table seemed to be ok and cheerful with the dude (maybe by not wanting to be the target of his next random freeshooting!) I just wish someone could explain me the subtleties of navigating the elitism of the Moroccan (academic) world here...I really don't want to generalize since I had also awesome encounters but is this the norm or is he just a douche ? Academic culture in north america is not better or anything, or maybe i'm too sensitive but I never heard such a thing of bragging about the fact of causing depression to someone. It feels just cruel. Peace khoyas and khetis !

    A idea Kinda weird

Why does the government not make a transit pass that is designated for a means of transportation that is used by the majority of the population? For example, Tetouan has a special bus card with which credit is charged 5 dhs or 10 dhs to be used on buses to move within the city, and it can be added to Google Wallet.
