Hello !
I've been with bell for 2 years now, and the Black Friday promotion I was on is reaching it's end, the price will increase drastically so I decided to switch to Ebox, which is basically owned by Bell, but cheaper.
The technician will come this Thursday and is supposed to install my new modem, I guess it won't take long as it's still the same fiber, BUT, I haven't cancelled Bell yet, I'm not really sure what to do, should I cancel now ? Call them and ask to cancel on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday ?
Can I wait until ebox is installed and properly working before canceling or will it be an issue if it's still active ? (PS: I'm working from home, I'll take my Thursday off but I need to be able to work and likewise for my wife)
Thank you :)
I parked on my street, as I usually do, and the following day when I got home from work, my car had been moved to a No Stop zone, with a ticket on it. Here’s the thing, I remember vaguely seeing one construction sign at the end of the street. And I have zero proof of where I parked initially, which is what I’m told I would need if I wanted to dispute.
Is there any point in disputing the ticket?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently living in the charming Old Ottawa East and love the neighborhood for its calm, family-friendly vibe, accessibility to downtown, and proximity to parks and nature making it a very convenient place to live. I’m considering moving to Montreal and was hoping to find a similar neighborhood that offers the same kind of lifestyle. Not a fan of busy and crowded areas.
Hello I am a tourist reaching Montreal tomorrow around noon and have a flight at 9am on Tuesday. From noon to 5 I probably have to work and then I have some time to explore before I make my way to YUL and sleep there.
Any suggestions or advice on places to visit with my 24 hour 747 pass? Would love to get some suggestions for restaurants as well
Edit: also lmk if there are places that are considered unsafe

I ask that everyone, parent or not, reserves their judgement! It's better to seek honest opinions of these subjects to better understand our reality
Merci beaucoup
Hello everyone, I'm looking for opinions on parents regarding childrens' independence. Most opinions online are from the US, and it would be great to better understand parents in Montreal.
So, if you're a parent in Montreal please share at what age you think it's safe to leave a child alone (with any other kids or adults) at home:
for 15-30 minutes while the parents go to the store, walk the dog, or pick up a sibling at daycare.
for 1-2 hours after returning from school, before the parents get home from work.
while the parents go out to dinner at a restaurant, returning late, around 8-10PM.
Please include the ages of your children with your response!
Thanks again
So, my uncle contacted me a few weeks ago to inquire about good Anglo private schools for girls (or co-ed, it doesn't matter) since he is moving to Montreal right after Christmas to work at the UN agency. Fees aren't a problem cause they will be paid by the agency. He has three girls, grades 5, 7 and 9. They are coming from the UK, so French schools are totally out of the question. Girls do not have any specific learning disabilities and can speak Italian, as he was based in Rome for years before getting transferred to the UK, so that might help to learn French as a second language in school quickly. He would be staying in the Lower Westmount area.
I briefly contacted ECS, The Study and Trafalgar. All three schools have a spot right after New Year. LCC is an option as well. I don't know what to tell him and his wife. I am convincing them to visit each school before moving to Montreal and make a decision based on what they feel, but due to holidays and whatnot, they want me to do all the paperwork and visits. Any experience with the private schools? recommendation?
Is it just me, or Amazon Prime One Day do not exist anymore at Montreal?
Most of the items I'm looking for have delivery expected in 7 days. But none are for tomorrow.
I'm I alone in this situation?
My friends and I want to go dancing but we want to try somewhere other than Electric Avenue, and Google searches aren't very helpful. Thanks in advance!
Huge rain/snow fall incoming at laval
As around now is the time to register for local activities through your municipality I just wanted to remind everyone that there's hundreds of free activities or low cost activities run by our city.
French, English and Spanish classes, yoga, pickleball, mental health support groups, badminton it goes on and on.
Sometimes the hardest part is signing up and committing to them but they're totally worth it.
There's also hundreds of impromptu activities happening too that you can just drop in for.
With the lack of sunlight (is it December 21st yet?) it's so good for your mental and physical health to get out, meet people and move!
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some indoor basketball courts (not too expensive if it's possible lol)
Thanks !
Hi all, I recently became a wheelchair user and genuinely I am filled with despair. There is no accessible flats available, the clsc is no help at all, 2+ years of wait for any accommodation. I literally haven't left my flat in 4 months because I cannot (too many stairs). I'm currently paying 650 for my flat and I cant afford to triple that for a ground floor apartment that will still have too many steps for me bc montreal is built like shit.
Are there any wheelchair users in montreal here who can reassure me that there is a future here? I've been living here for 8 years and a half but I feel like it's become unlivable. I'm out of options.
I speak French sorry for the English this is too emotional to write in french.
I’m so excited to be in Montréal to celebrate my 19th birthday 🎉 (with my twin brother). I’m ready to make this one unforgettable!
I’d love some recommendations to make the most of this trip. Here’s what I’m planning: Photos: I love taking pictures and want to find a stunning spot. Any hidden gems? Hair & Makeup: Looking for an affordable place to get dolled up with flawless hair and makeup. Where should I go for the best glam? Shopping: I’m always on the lookout for luxury boutiques or cool stores for birthday looks. Any recommendations for must-visit spots? Food: Craving raw marinated crab—if you know any amazing Korean or Asian restaurants, I’d love to hear about them! Cake: A cute, chic, Instagram-worthy cake with a luxe vibe is a must. Any bakeries I shouldn’t miss? Bars: Excited for my first drinks—are there any trendy bars I should check out? Fun Activities: Karaoke, rooftop lounges, or something cool like arcades or axe throwing. What fun spots are you into? If you’ve got any recommendations or know some fun things to do in the area, let me know!
Does anyone have any information regarding their reopening? I only discovered this incredible Lebanese restaurant in September and went as many times as I could before they shut down for renovations on 26/10. If you have any similar suggestions of places like this I’d love them too. Thanks!
Bonjour, I’m an international student at Concordia University, I’m looking for part time security guard job in the city. I’m BSP licensed and have the First Aid CPR certification. If you have any leads please feel free to share. Also, till the time I don’t find a Security Guard job, I’m open to work at a grocery store. I’m applying online daily on Indeed and LinkedIn and have 100 printed resumes with my availability on them. So do recommend me some areas where I can drop my resume too!
If you have an old house in Montreal with an unfinished basement without windows, what are the legal requirements to finish it? Do you need to add a window? What if you only use it as like a tv room and not a bedroom, would that be legal without a window? Is there are minimum height requirement for the finished basement?
Thanks!
Merci!
Where in Montréal (especially downtown) can I go to get the refund for my alluminium cans and -especially- glass bottles? How does the system works?
