Tonight, I had a brief but memorable chat with a lovely older lady while visiting the Duval Halloween House on Lacordaire with my family. Just as we were about to dive into a conversation on weather control theories, I had to laugh and mention that while I was on board, my wife might not be too thrilled about such theories.

She also picked up right away that I wasn’t originally from the area (a mix of my look and how I speak). With my kids and family around, I couldn't give our conversation the attention it deserved, but if you're out there reading this, just wanted to say it was a pleasure meeting you and welcome back to Montreal.

• It says AMBICO on the front smallest pocket. It has two zipper pockets total.
• Has my wallet in it and some chapstick and an unused cat sticker in the front pocket. The wallet is thin and handmade with a floral pattern.
• I can’t remember what was in the bigger pocket. Luckily nothing sentimental or crucial

Most driving schools here forces you to buy these textbook as per the government guideline and Omega is one of them. Can someone who’s taken lessons with this place tell me if they actually check if you buy the textbook ?

Lessons are through zoom but the instructor made everyone participate by calling out names and ask us to read stuffs. I don’t want to get yeeted if he ask something from the textbook but I also don’t wanna spend $100 on some useless book that contains information so widely available for free everywhere

I'm new to Canada. So i decided today to go and buy a Bus card ( Opus) in Laval metro station. I took a number and waited for an hour, and still there were like 50 people waiting before me, so I left. I didn't expect the process to be that complicated, i mean it's just a bus card not a visa or a credit card ...and should be meant to make people's lives easier, like it should be an over the counter purchase thing in supermarkets. Anyway, my question is can I pay cash on a bus? Is paper cash accepted or just coins? And is it ok if i paid more than the required fees if i don't mind not getting change back? ( like a 5$ bill).

TLDR: Need to be French proficient in 1-2 months to clear two interviews. Tips?

There’s a company that’s interested in hiring me, but they need French proficiency. I’m currently learning French through the Françisation program, I’m in my third month of the course and I’ll be a Level 3 French speaker next week.

I can manage basic conversations with people at the moment but for the job I have to do two interviews completely in French, and I’m not at that level yet. I spoke to a buddy of mine who works for the company and he suggested that I could wait for a month or two when the company could hire again for the same position and hopefully my french will be better by then.

Language proficiency takes time, but I don’t have a lot of time as my status in Canada is expiring in about 7 months. I need a way to fast track my french progression so that I’d be ready to do an interview and work. Any help/tips is highly appreciated.

Be warned: Plus Humain is currently hiring for a new “photographer,” but this is NOT a true photography role and far from a professional environment.

• I have years of experience in photography (mainly editorial beauty and fashion) and joined Plus Humain, a so-called “medical marketing agency,” after they advertised a role requiring no experience. But three weeks in, I was abruptly let go for a “lack of experience” in videography. They later called the job posting’s claim that no experience was required a “mistake”—yet they’ve since reposted the same job listing on LinkedIn.
• This agency is severely lacking in professionalism and transparency. My overlap with the previous content creator was two weeks, but there was no real training, just a “sink or swim” approach. I was given zero chance to adapt or to understand the deliverables. Coming from using a Canon R5, it’s nearly impossible to switch immediately to a different, entry-level Lumix camera without any adaptation period—especially when that camera has issues (no anti-flicker, no stabilization) that affect content quality.
• In my second week, they informed me I’d need to film a graphic breast augmentation surgery—something they hadn’t mentioned during hiring. It was unexpected and disturbing, but I felt forced to go through with it.
• As a largely remote role (95% work-from-home with one in-office day and some shoot days), I asked to return my computer by mail when they let me go since I live an hour away. They suggested they COME TO MY HOME instead, which felt unprofessional. Eventually, they agreed to send "intelcom" to pick it up. I was skeptical but agreed. When I greeted the "delivery driver" it ended up being the owner’s dad pretending to be from a Intelcom!!! The fact that they did not respect my personal boundaries makes me incredibly uncomfortable.
• Plus Humain appears more like a backyard operation than a legitimate company. I wish I’d done more research—they have almost no credibility. All their Google reviews are fake written by the owner’s parents.

It’s hard enough for photographers out there, and Plus Humain is a prime example of how companies take our skills for granted and undervalue our time. If you’re considering this position, save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere.
