Hi! I am a sophomore student at Miz studying nursing and living with 2 other roommates, we are a small friend group who loves to just hang out, study together, and watch our favorite show (Shameless btw). We're 50/50 on nightlife, but we're always down for a good adventure. I personally love to work out, hang around with my cat Tank, study, make good food, and being with friends. One roommate is studying pre-med, and she loves to have a nice cup of coffee, study, reading, and to be with her close friends! The other is not in school but she is always down for a good time and loves art, music, hanging around, and enjoying the town! We are pretty open to all kinds of people. We are looking for a female, one that is clean, nice, and chill. We ask to not have another pet such as a cat or dog, but fish or any other enclosure-based animal is allowed (I personally own two geckos aswell). We have signed for a townhouse at The Lyfe, rent is ~600 and utilities usually run $80 a person. Send me a DM if you are interested!
The Columbia Missourian always had a special place in my heart, even long after I graduated from the University of Missouri over 60 years ago.
Much of what I achieved in my journalism career, in and out of the newsroom, was driven in part by the two years I spent at the Missouri School of Journalism covering Douglass High School and the Tigers’ amazing 1960 football team.
Some of the same social, personal and professional values I acquired as a curiously aggressive J-school rookie are relevant today, even if the game has changed dramatically in the profession.
Yes, social media, cell phones, television and other spikey platforms now require a broader, more rounded grip than the pure reporting and ad sales initiatives of my generation. But what I learned on my journey was irreplaceable — from the subtle evils of segregation traveling with Douglass High footballers and their kind, sensitive coach, George Brooks, to reporting and filing competitive live game stories on a Mizzou football team that rose to No. 1 in the country (even if only for a week) and won a post-season Orange Bowl game.
I took creative chances that now seem almost bizarre. Before the Mizzou-Oklahoma game that fall, I wrote a poem, “And Wilkinson Is Weeping,” that played off the problems he was having that year, on and off the field. The Missourian published the poem; Mizzou won the game, 41-19; and Wilkinson never spoke to me again. It was one of only two poems I ever wrote that were published during my career. But the chance I took with poetry may have been a reason The Miami Herald, after reading my Missourian clips, offered me a summer internship following graduation, which I happily accepted.
But the Missourian was an education in other ways. Even as a student, I knew I carried assignments that competed against established journalism dailies, local and such national heavyweights as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Kansas City Star.
As a native of small-town northeastern Pennsylvania, I could have selected neighboring Penn State, Syracuse or Boston College for a journalism enhanced curriculum. Missouri and the Missourian introduced me to other bright, inquiring journalism majors from all over the country, male and female. All came, like me, for the same objective — to build a base for the next steps. And in retrospect, the Missourian alumni list is a journalism who’s who.
Most colleges have active student newspapers. I wrote for The Maneater, Mizzou’s student paper, earlier in school. The Missourian was a different challenge. In assessing my career that included stretches in newspapers, magazines, books, radio, television and film, the Missourian laid the perfect groundwork.
Journalism then and now have many people wondering what the future holds. But to borrow a few lyrics from my favorite love song, “How Do You Keep the Music Playing,” I remain optimistic:
If you can try with every day to make it better as it goes
With any luck then I suppose
The music never ends
Hopefully for the Missourian, the music will never end.
Yeah it was easy to continue trolling him once I popped out a wallpaper

I’m an out of state resident and just began considering mizzou, I’m wondering how the Mark Twain scholarship works, is it application based or automatic based on where you fit into the bracket?
I have, to say the least, screwed up royally. Currently, I am here with the Transfer Scholarship II. Unfortunately after some personal difficulties, I’m in danger of failing all of my classes. Today is the last day to withdraw from classes, and I figured this would be my best option, but I’m terrified to know how this would affect my financial aid for the rest of this semester and for next semester as well. If anyone knows how this works I’d love a breakdown because I am currently clueless and extremely nervous about my future.
Does anyone know how to claim the men's basketball student tickets? I have the student pass and have been able to claim every home football ticket without any problems. I am trying to claim tickets for the Cal game tomorrow. However, I do not see any men's basketball games when I go to claim my tickets. I only see the women's games. Is there some other place to claim the men's basketball tickets, or are they all sold out already?
When you chose your dorm freshman year, did you get to see what level floor it was and who you would be living with on the room card?
Rent $1100, utilities - $130, fixed price with Real Property Group
It's a 2 bed 1 bath split level house on 9th St., within 15 minutes of campus. You'd get the first floor and huge basement. Free in unit laundry included in the basement!
Lots of storage space, outdoor space for plants, and a cozy old house with a bit kitchen.
Message me for details.
Hey so I’m transferring to mizzou for spring 2025 as a sophomore. I’m 20 (a girl), any tips or advice? And does joining a sorority actually help with social life?

is the application due tonight by midnight or dec 1 by midnight?
For about a month I said there’s no chance Mizzou makes the playoffs if they win out. (This was before the SC game.)
But lo and behold, the way everything is falling, if Mizzou had held on for another 15 seconds in the shitty Columbia, they damn well have made the playoff.
So to anyone I said was crazy or full of shit, I apologize*
*pending the result of the ongoing Arkansas game.
Who would’ve thought this season would be on par with 2007?
Hello everyone!
I’m a student from Nepal, and I’m looking to further my studies at the University of Missouri. While going through their scholarship section, I noticed some decent opportunities listed, but I was wondering: are these scholarships stackable?
Additionally, I’m trying to figure out the lowest possible cost of attendance at the University of Missouri after scholarships. Could anyone who’s familiar with their system or currently studying there help me out? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I live at the Campus Lodge apartments and doing an exchange semester for the coming spring 2025 semester and I have to find a person who will sublease my apartment
I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA, a 4.1 weighted GPA, and 29 ACT. I’m middle class (around 110000 family income I think). I would really like to go to Mizzou for their journalism program but they are the most expensive school I’m looking at.
Me and my friends are looking to lease an east campus house for the 25-26 school year. There are four of us and we are so lost. Is there a website or something that would make the process easier? Thanks!
I have a tooth that suddenly started really bothering me this morning. Based off the pain I’d say I most likely need a root canal. I don’t have insurance and have no way to pay for such an expensive procedure but the pain is currently at 100/10.
Is there some way to get it done at Mizzou for cheaper or free through the dental school? Or does anyone know of any dentist that do payment plans in the area?
Hi there! I was hoping to go to the Kentucky/Mizzou game on March 8th. I live in STL so not super far away and can definitely wait to buy if I need to. I wasn’t sure if these type of games usually sell out and I should just go ahead and pick up some tickets? Or if there should still be plenty of options closer to game day for cheaper. Thanks!
