Hi! I’ll be doing an AMA on Saturday, 10/5. Sorry I had to change the time to 9 AM, but it’s the 20th anniversary of my Clayton Greyhound team winning the football state championship, and a bunch of us are getting together for this year’s homecoming game. So I’ll start the AMA early, but don’t worry! I’ll come back often to answer your questions.
The Attorney General’s Office is one that can do so much for the People of Missouri, from suing scammers, to protecting families, to preventing monopolies, to helping small businesses, and even ending abusive puppy mills. But a lot of what the Office does is at the discretion of whomever our Attorney General is, so it’s very important we elect a good one.
So ask away!
Not sure what to ask? Check out www.eladgross.org/solutions to see a bunch of my plans for Missouri.
Hi everyone!
Tomorrow on the Politically Speaking Hour on St. Louis on the Air, we'll be talking with former Missouri Ethics Commission executive director Liz Ziegler about the state of the state's campaign finance laws — and where it could use improvements.
Do you have a question about Missouri's campaign finance or ethics laws? Reply to this post and we may ask it on the program.
Thank you as always for your time and the show airs tomorrow at noon and 7 p.m. on St. Louis Public Radio!
VOTE YES ON 3! Abortion is not a form of contraception, it’s healthcare, and sometimes lifesaving. You cannot say you’re PRO-FAMILY and for IVF but not abortion. We can’t have IVF with no abortion… IVF can often cause upwards 8 fertilized eggs sometimes, and we’re not puppies, so in some cases some of the cellular life is then removed to prevent a potentially fatal pregnancy. Amendment 3 keeps the government OUT of your doctor appointment. This is not about democrat or republican, this is about limiting the government in our life and health choices. VOTE YES ON AMENDMENT 3. Missouri is not a state for MORE governing. Let’s keep it that way! 🇺🇸#MoVoteYesOn3 #MODoctorsFor3
Anyone else getting a little nervous about the Lucas Kunce commercials where he talks about "defending the boarder" and " worked in the Trump Justice Department "? I've read his issue statements, but this feels odd.
Elad Gross (/u/BigElad), the 2024 Democratic nominee for Missouri Attorney General, will be doing an AMA with us on Saturday October 5th at 3pm Central time. Put any questions you'd like to ask in the comments below. He did an AMA with us about 5 years ago as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/MissouriPolitics/comments/ew5zyg/ama_on_january_31_elad_gross_candidate_for/
Hello, I'm John Murphy and I'm a reporter and anchor for KOMU 8 News in Columbia, MO. I'm trying to put a story together about people who have personally been affected by abortion, as Amendment 3, which would legalize it again if passed, will be on the ballot in November. I'd like to hear from people on both sides. Is there anyone willing to tell their story who has been negatively affected by an abortion ban (possibly someone who needed to receive an abortion and couldn't in Missouri). And, is there anyone willing to tell why they personally do not support abortion (maybe someone who has adopted children, someone whose parents once maybe considered an abortion, or a parent who maybe considered an abortion at some point and decided against it). I'm based out of Mid-Missouri, but I could travel pretty much anywhere in the state if someone is willing to tell their story. I'd like to do interviews either tomorrow, Friday 9/27, or this weekend if need be. Please either DM me or email me at john.murphy@missouri.edu if you're willing to share your story. Thank you!
On Tuesday night, the state of Missouri executed Marcellus Williams, despite no DNA evidence proving his guilt. Leading up to the execution, hundreds of thousands of people across the United States urged Governor Mike Parson to grant a stay, which he declined to do. The prosecutor and family members of the deceased had all asked for a stay to prove his innocence but the governor refused. Now, this petition is calling for Governor Parson’s resignation.
The Amendment as a whole sounds great. Bring the revenue lost on border towns back into Missouri - to collect revenue lost in Illinois, Kansas, Arkansas - and every other state.
Use that money to shore up the under performing education systems.
I know there's an argument that the Boats were supposed to pay for secondary education - and that's how we got the A+ system - and there's also a concern that if Trump is elected and dismantles the DOE - it'll be up to states to find their own schools - which this could help secure.
Tell me - realistically - why amendment 2 is bad for Missouri
The Missouri legislature passed a sweeping education bill earlier this year, which includes raising the minimum teacher salary to $40,000, recalculating the state’s school funding formula and significantly expanding the state’s tax credit scholarship program. (Here's a link to STLPR's story on the bill: https://www.stlpr.org/government-politics-issues/2024-04-18/missouri-legislature-passes-expansive-k-12-education-bill-that-includes-raise-for-teachers)
We want to know, how do teachers feel about the measure?
Maybe this has been posted but I just found it last night and thought it might be helpful in choosing whether to continue a judge's tenure.
Governor Parson just executed an innocent man.
Are you happy with your governor?
Every election I’m always at a bit of a loss when it comes to voting on “Shall [Judge’s Name] of the [Court Name] be retained in office?” - what do you all do there?
MO supreme court I can get some information about their record but in the lower courts the only info I can find is just their name and how long they have been in office.
At a certain point I just default yes to all but then I worry that enables bad apples to stay in office.
All this said I am nowhere close to being a legal scholar so even if I found more info I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily qualified to judge a judge (pun intended).
