Honda Acty micro box camper, can this be done?

Been brainstorming about making a mini box truck camper from Honda Acty. Box will be approx 7' H x 7' W x 8.75' long. Will put slanted addition over cab for aerodynamics and slant the front corners.

Official payload is 450lbs. I know nothing about suspensions: can this be beefed up to say 800-1000lbs? That's my anticipated weight of the camper addition, and I am removing the bed which is couple hundred. Will the truck be able to get up to say 50mph at 38 horsepower?

Reasons for Acty/Kei and not a compact or full size platform: very low price point for quality vehicle, mileage, shortness and ability to parallel park in urban/suburban areas and stealth camp, ability to fit in regular parking space, total length would be about 13'.

I will make the box removable / transferable to other trucks.

I have an 89 Toyota Pickup but don't want to mutilate it, she's a beaut.

Am I missing something?

I just bought a fiberglass topper for $100 and have decided tofix it up by myself. The windows are sliding on the sides, no leaks but the window on the front has a leak on the top of the seal. I can't get the screws loose to take the window out. If I sealed it with weld it or some other silicone on both sides would that be effective? I have been working on insulation and am attaching carpet inside but I don't want a little water leak to spoil everything . I removed all the seal from the bottom of the cap and have attached some inch and a half rubber seal in its place. Not sure how I will seal the back window yet but I would appreciate any advice. Be gentle with me, i am a 65 yr old woman

2nd 12v Battery

I'm considering upgrading my 12v system in my 06 Tacoma Long bed. Preferably. I would like to mount it into the engine compartment. In a battery box. Where it augments the onboard 12v system (maintaining charge)

I have a 12 v solar system and power station already. And would Like to take an extra hv 12v battery along.

Any suggestions any of you have? Do you keep the battery box in the cab ot the bed due to off gassing?

TIA!

Soft Topper

Hey Everyone, just picked up a ‘22 frontier. I was wondering what everyone’s opinions on the soft topper was? I’d like to camp a couple nights a month. Was curious if anyone was using a soft topper and not a fiberglass/metal topper.

I’m in Colorado so we’ve got cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Plenty of tent camping in that weather, curious how the soft topper compares. Thanks!

Truck Cab Student Survey

Hello! Do you store items in the cab of your truck? I am design student working on a product for the cab of a truck. To better understand the audience I am designing for, I have created a quick survey. If you have time, I would greatly appreciate any input on how you use the cab of your truck.

Any suggestions on 94 Chevy S-10 bed caps?

Looking for a cap for a 94 Chevy S-10 I just got! Finding it strangely difficult to find some made especially for it. Any suggestions on what's worked good for y'all? Tryna get something with rails on top for a roof rack

How to plan out a long term round US road trip the old fashioned way without apps?

Here late August or maybe Early September starting from Idaho I want to do a 3 month long or so road trip across the United States living out of the back of my Ford Ranger Blue Highways or Travels With Charlie style.

Ideally I want to do this old school without a gps and taking as many forest roads and back ways as I can. I want to learn the ability to navigate the old style but so far all I've really done is pen down a basic route in a notebook, while looking over my new atlas. I just don't have a lot of confidence in it nor any idea how long it'll take.

Anyone have any wisdom about the old skills they're willing to tell?

Survey for Design Student

Hello, I am a design student who is working on a project to develop a shelter specifically for truck bed camping. I created a quick survey to gather some data to lead me in my design. If you camp out of your truck bed, I would really appreciate any information you could give me. It is a small 7 question survey. Thank you for your time, your feedback is invaluable.

Question about a possible air conditioning unit?

Does anyone have any experience or could recommend a solid cold blow fan / a/c setup? This is my ride. I'm planning on doing some truck camping in the Utah area this July and the conditions will be hot hot hot. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

SIX PAC MINI CAMPER

I'm sort of a collector of things. I own a 34ft Class A, a travel trailer, several tow vehicles etc.,

But the day after my oldest was born I bought a 1984 Nissan SB 4x4 which I still have. I would love to find a SIX PAC MINI to put on the Nissan.

I think I am 20 years too late. I have seen NONE....for sale

Broke out the tarp for the first time. Was easier to set up than I thought, definitely a good investment to your build!
