Welcome to the community of preppers who belong to the United States Midwest. My goal is to recruit and unite all MidwestPreppers, from the newest prepper to the lifelong preppers. By prepping our neighbors and helping all to learn, I believe we ourselves become more prepared as a group. Thanks for checking us out!
Need help here guys,

I would like to start or join a mutual aid group focused in the city. Call it within 30 miles of Forest Park Parkway and Grand. The idea would be to encourage and plan for a bunk up, shelter in place scenario. We would set standards for food, water, and supplies storage, and hold each other accountable to work towards having all the supplies needed on hand, work on expanding our group and individual skills, and be committed to giving aid to anyone within the group without questions.
I see this starting with a casual lunch or dinner at a neutral location, we can all feel each other out and see who clicks with who. Would be great if this resulted in several separate but friendly groups.
It's been pretty smoky here in the Twin Cities, MN. Visibility is low. So is air quality. We've been staying inside. Aside from avoiding outdoor work and getting a better air filter for our AC unit, any other suggestions to mitigate the effects?
Was blocked on the regular sub but as an Iowan I figured I'd post here too
I've just recently joined this Sub about a week ago and with recent times affecting everyone across the world and the uncertainty behind it but knowing this will pass eventually would you consider this a sort of prepper fire drill
Many people prep for many reasons most common reason is survival in a SHTF scenario on par of most disaster movies but this current Real pandemic is a good test to most preppers ability to function normally if take a more serious turn
Keep learning and make strategic efforts to stay safe and we'll all be fine until the internet shuts down
If any of you guys are from Wisconsin, feel free to check out r/WisconsinPreppers as I am starting it up.
Other than a tornado shelter (wife and I are saving up), what would you guys consider the essentials for our Prepping?
Thinking about food caches, reliable vehicles, etc.
I know the sub isn't too active... but gotta start somewhere.
Indianapolis Self Reliance Skills is a donations based group concentrating on learning skills for self reliance. The group has been around for 2 years now and we are looking for more like minded people to attend and or teach us. Our host location is just inside the 465 loop on the South West side in Indy. All events we host are free and you can come and go as needed. We always have a meetup on the 1st Saturday of every month from 1 PM to 4 PM (don’t worry if you can’t stay for the entire time, many members leave early or arrive late). The group relies on its members to teach the skills they know or have recently learned. Often new members end up teaching or instructing soon after attending for the first time. If nothing else you can always attend to network and socialize with like minded people.
Our next meetup is titled “What I Learned from $975 in Firearm Lessons”. You can RSVP here:

In the past we have had presentations and discussions to learn:

We just got hit with 2 feet of snow this past weekend. I was glad to have plenty of batteries for flashlights, and we planned ahead and got gas well before the storm.
I underestimated how much milk my family would use in that time, but other than that I felt very prepared.
Anyone else weather thar major storm system recently?
Hello, fellow midwest peoples!
I just wanted to try and start a topic of discussion here and ask what kind of preps any of you do for the upcoming Spring Storm season?
I know my husband and I are starting with the basics of a flashlight, oil lamps, batteries, and about a week of food for us and the animals.
What kind of stuff do you guys do for thunderstorms and possible tornadoes?
If this is against the rules of the sub, sorry!
Hi there, Im a newbie prepper in the Southern Illinois area (near the very bottom of the state), and aside from some general ideas, Im not really sure where to start.
Does anybody have any suggestions for prepping blogs that maybe go through each basic topic (food, water, medical, BOB, GHB, etc)?
Thanks for the help!
The midwest can get some intense cold, snow, and ice. What do you keep in your car to be ready for winter vehicular emergencies? How do you prepare your car for the winter season?
I'm just trying to see who is all out there to discuss preparedness with and share ideas.
I'm a reporter with WFIU/WTIU News in Bloomington, IN. I'm working on a story about the prepper community in Indiana. If this is you, or if you have any connections to the prepper community in the state, feel free to send me a message or reply to this post. Thanks!
Best,
Sophia Saliby
I know tornadoes is a big one for many folks, what else do you prep for in this area?
