Alternatives to genuine MM cars?

Hi all,

Due to my young son taking an interest in the 4 Micro Machines Travel City sets that I have owned since I was a child, I have gone on to buy more of the Travel City sets (eBay) and I have ended up with about 12 of them, all in excellent condition, and they were pretty cheap, about £8-9 each.

But the problem is that people seem to be asking silly money for the cars.

I had a collection of about 50 original Galoob cars, however my brothers kids got to them first, and they now have them. So I need to buy a whole load of cars for the Travel City sets I have bought.

The asking prices per original car seem to be ridiculous, at about £5-15 per car.

I looked at Jada Nano but there hardly seems to be many models for sale. Just a few Fast and Furious, plus a couple of other movie cars and that’s about it.

Tonka Micro seems very had to find new now as well (discontinued?)

Someone must be making a range of MM sized cars quite cheaply?

Thanks

Metallic Stunts 2001 set - is it worth anything?

I found these Micro machines in a box of old toy cars in my parents garage. They were mine from a kid but I didn't really play with them so they have no sentimental value so I'm going to sell them.

I discovered they are the "Metallic Stunts" set from 2001. I searched them on eBay but can't find any that sold. These cars in particular, someone who sells lots of Micromachines have them listed for £60 each car although I realise that doesn't mean much if they haven't sold at that price. I did however see the "Aqua Stunts" set of 5 released around the same time sold for £50 recently for an unboxed set.

Just looking for a little bit of advice from people who know their stuff if I should try and price similarly and see if I can get £50 for them, or if actually these ones are worth more than that and I should sell separately? Or is £50 optimistic and maybe just a fluke that other set sold for that much?

“Troop Transport” Truck

"Troop Transport" truck - as labeled by galoob - is actually a Peterbilt 359 (or 379) with the shorter 113" cab (measurement from engine hood tip to back wall of cab) and a deuce bed and six soldiers. Paint scheme is the "jungle" camouflage initiated with the "Armed Forces" collection in 1992 (Collection #3).

Did you know that there are five distinct releases? Not to mention consistent variations…

are these micro machines auctions legit, or dodgy/repros

i have been browsing micro machine listings on ebay uk past 2 couple years on and off, and have started to see for first time several auctions where they are bagged up, presumably they are marketing them as mail aways or single promo give aways or something along those lines.

seems like these may be fakes and reproductions , one auction mentions the paint is dodgy, so perhaps these are cheapo repros with simple paint jobs, any thoughts ? as i say first time is seen any any micros bagged up like this up for auction let alone so many, first listing is for 240 of them, and from different sellers.

also if they were fakes, should you tell ebay if you think a seller may knowingly be trying to con a buyer and sell fake items, and get them to stop. Anyone producing mass amounts of these may be doing so against copyright i presume.
