Goals long term?

I’m still in high school and I’ve been thinking more about my plans long term since I’m going to graduate soonish.

My goal is to be a Firefighter after graduation, and I’m going to community college to get my certifications, associates, etc. My only thing is, should I take a gap year to get it all done? I turn 18 about 5-6 months after I graduate so I’ll have to wait until then.

I’m only considering metoidioplasty atm because my chest is small enough for me to stall top surgery for a bit. I’m scared of being outed as trans in a department if I don’t get bottom surgery, which could fuck me over in the long run. Theres also a residential/bunk program in the departments that would be similar to that experience during college. I also can’t go completely virtual because every class is in person.

What should I do, or what would you do in your shoes?

Is there a mental adjustment when you have meta?

I know post op phallo patients have to “connect” with their new phallus, is this he same for meta of do you automatically feel connected to your new parts?

4 days post op

Hey everyone. I’m 4 days post op meta w/ UL, vaginectomy, and implants. I had surgery on Friday, discharged from the hospital on Saturday. I am in a considerable amount of pain. Everything feels very tight and the I can feel the Foley catheter all too well. Overall im pleased with what I can see so far and I’m positive the pain with subside eventually. I know this is all normal for the stage I’m currently in, but just needed to put it into words and hopefully hear some optimistic thoughts/experiences. When did things start feeling better for y’all?

Seeking Scrotal Implant Advice!

Hey there!!! I was wondering if anyone had any advice for if I should get testicular implants or not? Are they comfortable or do they get in the way? I'm getting stage 2 metoidiolplasty in a few months and am still on the fence about silicone implants. My surgeon said it totally depends on how my monsplasty goes/how high they can move everything up. But I'd love to hear thoughts from people who have gotten scrotal implants. Thank you in advance!

10 days out and I have wound separation around base and a pennie sized patch of skin that is necrotic and very concerning to me

Not for the weak of stomach....

At one week I had no wound separation and a mildly red and puffy spot. Now there separation at the base and dead tissue and smells very bad. I went to ER in hospital where I had my surgery and the plastic surgery team evaluated it. They said it was fine and normal for a healing event. They did blood work and nothing was upsetting. However, I am upset having to see and smell such a frankly gross peiece of skin on my own body in addition pain and trying to adjust to this new part of my body that I was already self conscious about. I'm feeling really down. I bet in a month I'll feel better and have healed much more but right now it's hard.

shrinkage

has anyone else experienced severe loss of length over time? i think part of the problem is the initial difference in length between the topside and the underside of my dick. i haven't been able to get hard since surgery which i think hasn't helped. just curious if i'm alone in this. 2+ years post-op so it's not a temporary situation.

Testicular implants

Hi all, I had implants done a week ago and was told to 'milk' them down so they don't settle too high before apparently they set in place at 4 weeks. I've had a fondle, but not really sure exactly what I'm doing and scared of doing the wrong or ineffective thing... Any tips/instructions?

Post UL STPs

Has anyone tried any of the rodeoh STPs ? Ive tried the banana prosthetics one and its just hard to get my dick in so it leaks. I don’t think the rod will work well because of how thick my dick is and I don’t have a ton of growth to attach it to. The rodeoh looks nice because it looks meta shaped and has that lip for a seal but ik it wasn’t made for this so has anyone tried it

I'm considering getting meta during my 5 week break between studies - a terrible idea?

I'm in Sweden and FTM bottom surgeries here are trash, so I'm planning on diving into my savings to get it done privately in Belgrad. Come summer I'll have been on full dose T for a year. I'm currently studying and my classes finish late June, then if all goes well I'll start another program in August. This gives me about 5-6 weeks off during which I should be working my ass off since I'm poor as f**k, but hey why not go get a dick instead!

Bottom dysphoria has been kicking my ass for many years, I will be 39 come summer. I feel a slight urgency around it as I've waited for so many years to finally get to start medically transitioning and my life feels put on hold until my body aligns better for me. Some pros of doing it ASAP would be: • Getting a dick!!! • The younger the better in terms of surgery and also more years of having a dick • My studies are remote so wouldn't need to move around too much

Some cons: • I'll have been 1 year on full dose T and 9 month of low dose, so maybe not all growth will have happened? • Since I'm studying I'm very low on money • Limited time to recover and if something goes wrong I'll have to fly back and could risk missing crucial early times of studying

I'm sure there are more but these were on the top of my head. The alternative would be to either wait until the following summer, or after I have completed my studies and (hopefully) gotten a job and be swimming in money in no time. BUT, that would also mean I'd have to wait even longer.

Consultation

I had my bottom surgery consultation with Dr. Bradley Figler at UNC Health in Hillsbourgh, NC on 11/11/24. I asked for an examination while I was there to get an idea of what my results might look like, even though he usually does examines closer to surgery time. I’m not sure how to take something he said to me during my examine. Dr. Figler stated, “that Metoidioplasty is really for skinny people.” This took me off guard because I’m not obese or overweight. I just have a small belly that pokes out a little and I’m pretty average everywhere else. I do have a fatty mons, but that can be taken care of with a mons resection, even though he stated he doesn’t like to do them. Has anyone else been told that Meta is for skinny people???

No meta specialists in state - labiaplasty?

The same trans affirming plastic surgery office that I got my keyhole surgery also offers "labiaplasty" and there's no surgeons in my state that technically offer meta. Could it count as a gender affirmation surgery to have the labia majora flattened down and then the labia minora removed in order to free the bottom growth?

STD + meta?

Not sure if this belongs here, but didn’t know where else I would be able to get an answer.

So I’m a post op full meta trans guy. When it comes to my sexuality, I don’t care, I go with who I go. Now I’ve both given and received. But I’m not sure how it would go with std. I know any anal could cause std, but how would it work any type of genital std?

I know it might seem like a stupid question.

Another thing is, std tests aren’t focused on post op trans people. So if I want to get tested I’m not even sure what and how, besides that, the idea of it makes me rather uncomfortable.

Purohit consult in Dec, pls share your experience

After about 20 years on T and about 18 years after top surgery, I've decided to finally get the metoidioplasty I've always wanted. I am meeting with Dr. Purohit and either Dr. Tran or Rodriguez for the OB junk - would love to hear any experiences from guys who have had any surgery with him or the OB team.

Personally, getting all the default configuration removed then I want the whole shebang (hebang?) installed - all of it the ligament release, mons resection, testicular implants, urethral lengthening...so bonus if you happen to have had the same stuff done!

I'm not a big dude, about 5'7" 170lbs so hoping that will be in my favor.

I have seen the photos on Transbucket and here, I feel pretty good about my decision to go with Dr. Purohit for the aesthetics and his expertise. Also, I have had great experiences with Mt Sinai since about 2020 so I'm hoping that continues...thanks in advance! 😎

Opinions on Morrison and Skokan vs just Morrison?

I had my consult with Dr. Shane Morrison today, and he said after insurance approval he was scheduling out about 7-8 months when doing surgeries with Dr. Skokan. He mentioned that if I was just going with him there was a chance we could do it sooner, but I'm not sure what exactly that would mean. I'm getting extended meta w/scrotoplasty, no v-nectomy or urethral lengthening. It seems like Dr. Skokan mostly deals with the urethral rerouting side of things, but do any of y'all have opinions or experience on one of them vs both working together?

Does who has to live with a parent talk to them about your surgery and goals? Is it possible to go through it alone?

Like could I hide this potentially or not need someone to take care of me? I realize this is unrealistic but I am really stressed out and aren't sure where to begin.

I'm an adult who lives with a parent and as they're my only family and I'll probably be unpartnered forever, that will likely always be the case.

I don't know how to navigate this. I finally figured out what I want but my desired outcome is permanently out of reach. I could save up really easily if I had the opportunity to do so. But I worry I won't ever have anything to save towards.

STP after stage 1 vs stage 2 - did stage 2 make it possible if stage 1 didn't?

I'm about 10 weeks post op stage meta w/ ul and due to positioning, my dick is a bit low and points down so I don't know how I would stand to pee without getting pee all over my clothes at the end of my stream. Starting out it shoots out far if I lift it but then towards the end as it tapers and dribbles a bit even if I lean forward its too low to go over my clothes. (I've only tried a few times while wearing my boxer briefs inside the shower but logistically I don't know if there's a point to keep trying)

Has anyone ever gone from not peeing able to stp after stage 1 and then being able to after stage 2? or should I just skip the stage 2 and go for phallo if it won't make a difference anyway.

In stage 2 I would get a lift, upper folds resection and lipo -- I have a lot of fat, tissue etc so nothing looks very different. and I don't know if it's too early post op or what but i'm feeling pretty discouraged and while I knew things would look the same, I thought I'd have a pretty good chance to at least be able to stp.

UL without vaginectomy

If you’ve had it done, how are your results?

I got mine in March, developed a fistula, and got it repaired 2 weeks ago. I’m curious to hear if anyone else developed fistulas, whether they got repaired, and how you like everything long-term.

8 weeks post-op (Özer): wounds are closed, feelings are mixed

(Not entirely sure weather this needs to be under the 'post-op' flair or 'surgery journal' flair?)

Now that I'm 8 weeks post-op I thought I'd give a little update. I want to inform people, but also have some questions of my own, and just want to get stuff off my chest.

I'm doing okay overall. The wound on the underside of my dick took a little longer than the rest, but everything was completely closed on day 55 (2 days ago). Özer says the average for all wounds to close is 100 days, but she's seen everything from 45 to 280 days. I'm very grateful to be on the lower end of that spectrum. I do still have quite a bit of swelling, I hope that will go away soon.

I had some wound dehiscence on the right side of my dick which took a while to close, while everything attached quite easily on the left. Because of this the left side is actually slightly shorter/tighter, which makes my dick deviate to the left slightly. I don't mind, cis dicks can bend any way. I've seen some pretty crooked dicks when I was single, so mine really isn't that strange.

It took me a while to get used to my balls, and I'm still not entirely used to them. I have very large balls, larger than what I've seen on pictures of others, so that really took me by surprise. My balls are also quite unsymmetrical, but that's not much of a problem to me. What is very annoying however, is that the lower part also bends back a little and it's very much in the way when I pee. Whenever I've seen someone ask about weather people piss on their balls after this surgery, I've always seen people answer that it wasn't a problem for them. Well, it is for me. A lot. It takes quite some effort to really get my balls dry and make sure there's no moisture left in any folds after I pee, which I really hate. I hope something can be done about this somehow.

In general I am quite happy with the results. It's better than what it was before. It's just not really what I expected. The huge balls make my dick look smaller in comparison, the swelling is annoying, and the peeing is a very frustrating experience. Both physically and mentally this is the toughest surgery I've had, and some uplifting words are definitely welcome.

I don't want to post any pictures publicly now that everything looks closer to what my genitals will look like for the rest of my life, but if you're curious about something feel free to DM me and I can share pictures privately.

Some questions for other guys who've had extended metoidioplasty:

  • How long did it take for all the swelling to go away?
  • If you have experienced similar issues with peeing, how did you handle it?

Update on the unfinished surgery

Hello, I posted a few days ago about my metoidioplasty and scrotoplasty leaving me with a vaginal opening. The conversation with the doctors went like this: Me: How long should it take for it to close? Them: That depends, probably several years Me: How can I seek a surgical procedure to close it? I don't know what to ask for and I don't have anything on my medical certificate about what was left. Them: you don't need a surgical procedure Me: I'm not going to wait "several years". When is it safe? Them: You can have mucosa reselection anytime you want

My hysterectomy doctor told me he cannot help me, but referred me to his colleague. I have a consultation tomorrow, please, please, please, cross your fingers or pray if that's your thing. I still don't know when and if the new doctor will do it. I'm going crazy here.

UPDATE: I had a consultation today with a gynecologist surgeon. It's not a simple mucosa resection, they don't even know how much of vagina was left inside and there's no easy way to check. None of my medical papers say anything about it. Fortunately, regardless of that, they can fix it. I'll have it done at the beginning of December, now the surgeon is trying to reach the hospital to get more information about what was left inside me. I still have to somehow survive these few weeks, which is very hard. I know that for some people, they don't mind, some even want to have an actual vagina. For me, well because of that situation, my therapist wants me to check-in regularly because I'm at risk of permanently logging out. I'm bursting out crying a few times a day, I cannot handle it. I hope they can fix me in December, although the price is steep. I'll try to rob a bank or something, I don't know. It's going to cost as much as the testicular implants, guess I'll put that on hold then.
