I’m just about to purchase my first metal detector and like the look of the Minelabs, I have a few options in my budget
First is a CTX 3030 2nd hand, comes with a few extras being 2nd hand and 3 coils, is 5yrs old but obviously reading about the history of the model the tech is older
Nox 800 brand new, there is a deal currently for one with 2 coils and headset for £680.
Nox 900 2nd hand will be a little more then the options above but there’s a few floating around.
I will just be detecting on farm land (hopefully coins) so don’t need any water proof features but any advice would be appreciated. Other aspect in my mind would be the resale value if I don’t enjoy my new found hobby for any reason
Hi,
my boy is 5 1/2 and looking for a metal detector that he can use now and a few years.
What would be recommended?
"Nokta Makro 1st Swing" vs "midi hoard"?
Thankyou
Thanks for all the advise for my first purchase into this new hobby.

Found in michigan and found today. The wheel looking thing weighs like 40+ pounds crazy heavy.
I want to get into metal detecting, but I don't know where to start regarding the legality. I live just outside of Boston, and I've seen sources say that metal detecting is legal anywhere it doesn't say it isn't, but I've also seen people say that you need a permit everywhere other than private land, and I still can't figure out how to acquire said permit. What exactly are the rules? What public lands are legal, and which ones are permits needed for?
I’ve found 2 of these in different places, any ideas what they are? I thought musket ball but, why have a hole in it? It’s weighty.
16/17th century Beehive thimble found in Scotland today. A first for me and my find of the day despite a hammered silver and a Victoria fourpence.
Found in the woods of Slovenia. It has a cylindrical bottom and it looks like it was put on top of a rod holder or something similar
Hi all , found in UK . Any help with ID?
I live in Northwestern Pennsylvania, USA and there is a particular piece of property I wish to metal detect on. I will be sending a letter to the land owner asking permission with a statement that I am willing to sign a Metal Detecting Liability Waiver and Assumption of Risk Agreement.
How often does this subreddit community sign a Liability Waiver in an effort to give the land owner assurances that I will not sue for possible injuries, property damage, etc?
Found these coins an other cool things my first season of metal detecting, some pretty interesting coins, jewelry and buttons
Hello everybody. Anyone else have this problem?? So basically when i put my ws4 headphones to charge, they just turn on automatically. Anybody know what to do???
