I am going to a few festivals and concerts next year so I thought I'd just find some info for opening it up
It can be metal or not
My family and I are traveling to those places for Christmas and since it’s my first time there, I’d love to get some recommendations! “Merch” can include anything from band shirts, posters or CD/vinyls etc.
P.s recommendations for guitar stores are welcome too. : )))
I really love bands that do deathcore style and screaming vocals with clean singing choruses. Some bands i’m really into that do this are Ice Nine Kills, Brand of Sacrifice, A Day to Remember, Motionless in White, I Prevail and others like that. If you have any suggestions of bands or songs similar to these let me know!!
Thanks for any replies!!
I am the producer and presenter of a new radio show. I have full control of the content. It's Alternative music of all genres.
I have an idea for a weekly feature. I haven't nailed the name for it yet. But something along the lines of "The best band you'll never hear of".
I want to play music from unsigned bands that are no longer together.
Were you in a band 10 years ago, 20 years ago 30 years ago? Did you record a blinding EP. Did you play all over the country or just a few local gigs?
I want to play your music on the show.
(Also, if you're in a band now, I want to hear that too.)
This was one of the first albums I discovered when getting into more extreme metal territory and still blows me away every time. My favorites gotta be Death Certificate, the solo and breakdown are so badass.
Last US show. If you haven’t checked them out before, get on it.
I'm pretty new to the metal scene, I only really started listening this year. I've never actually been to a live performance and as I live in Australia most of the popular metal bands/bands I listen to don't really perform here. However I've heard from a friend (in New Zealand) that there are tons of local shows if you know how to find them. And so I was wondering how one would actually go about finding these shows, and any tips would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
One that I can think of is Aerosmith, who were called heavy metal in the 70s when the term first started being used. They were also still being called that during the 80s when glam was big, since they sort of fit with that sound. Another is the Red Hot Chili Peppers who were sometimes called funk metal in the 80s and early 90s, mainly since they sounded vaguely similar to other bands who were tagged with that like Primus, Faith No More and Infectious Grooves. Then the movement died in the mid-90s and they changed their sound to pop rock, and now there are people that would laugh at you for suggesting RHCP are anything close to metal.
I've also even found some newspaper articles calling Nirvana and Pearl Jam alternative metal in 1991-92, before the term grunge became widespread.
The snare sound on St Anger is the first thing that came to mind. It's been over 20 years. Go outside, touch grass and get over it.
I’ve listened to the Paranoid album a million times, but other than that, I’ve mostly just heard their bigger songs. What are your favorite hidden gems (that aren’t on Paranoid)?
Edit: thank you all! And holy fucking shit! There is so much gold here. I feel like an idiot- I’ve had Paranoid since I was 11 (26 years ago) and I’ve had Spotify for 8 years, and this treasure trove was right under my nose. On the plus side, I get to “discover” all this good music now.
idk I've never really gotten into them they just seem overrated. I'm open to recommendations to change my mind
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t really like Barnes’ vocals with Cannibal Corpse, so what album should I start with / what are some good songs that I can listen to from the newer Cannibal Corpse?
No more youtube!
Wondering how many people here listen to or know about May They Rest. They are a metalcore/deathcore band from New Jersey with about 700-800 monthly listeners on Spotify. To me they are absolutely stellar and I love every song so I'm wondering if people just don't know about them or don't like them?
First: Cannibal Corpse "Tomb of The Mutilated"
Last: Archspire "Bleed The Future"
Around half a year ago I stumbled upon a band called "Dragoncorpse" who make a mix of Deathcore and Power Metal.
I'm just a bit curious, do you know of other bands that mix those two genres in a similar way?
I couldn't find anything online.
I'm not talking about in recent times, rather since the begging of music's recorded history.
For me it all started with Vivaldi's Concerto for two cellos in G minor (what a badass "riff") and/or Winter
Ahoy San Diego 🏴☠️ Visions of Atlantis brings their pirate party to Brick by Brick on Apr. 21, 2025 with support from local heavyweights Helsott! https://www.ticketweb.com/event/visions-of-atlantis-armada-over-brick-by-brick-tickets/13673354?pl=brickbybrick&REFID=clientsitewp
I was looking up the Cadaver Synod for reasons once and I saw that there’s a total album called that. I was afraid to listen to it because I was afraid it would be too Burzum Or Cannibal Corpse for my tastes.(Nothing against those bands; they’re just not my cup of tea)
I also discovered there’s a metal band that writes exclusively for the SCP Foundation and they did a song for SCP-106. (I am not sure why I am like this.)
I see sign up for presale, does anyone know how much it is? Maybe what it was for the previous year?
