Does anyone know what snare Evgeny uses on the Kostolom album? That sound is wicked and I want to get one but I can't seem to find it anywhere on his websites that show gear lists.
If not, does anyone know of a snare that sounds similar?
Hi, I’ve recently joined a death metal band and am looking to upgrade my arsenal of cymbals and am wondering what the best cymbal types are for metal drumming and which brands… I’m thinking of maybe a china and splash but let me know what you think are some reasonable priced essential cymbals.
so to start off, im a huge metallica fan, and they just posted a video about lars' 72 seasons kit (which i absolutely love) and at the end they said that there are going up for sale but only 72 in the world are going to be made. i reached out to my TAMA connect that i have, and he gave a me a quote for about $8,000. i would in a second buy it now cause i love this kit and its so limited around the world. my question to yall, is should i just do it and worry about it later, or think about it for a while and see. 8 grand is a lot of money for me ( as for anyone) so this would be a large investment on my part. all feedback is appreciated :)
Right/Left leading pattern variations at 165! Tightened my spring tension about 10-20% since last time. Took me about 1 week to readjust to the new feeling for sure, but quite satisfied after all! Growing more and more comfortable with the start/stop motion! 8 more weeks left in 2024!! I am looking forward to see what is possible in that time! :)
Happy Halloween yall! 🎃
Hi all! I was looking into getting some triggers, but I'd like to know if anyone has experience with the ACD Game Changers, as I haven't heard much about them, but I do know that they have other amazing hardware some of which I have. As far as FootBlaster goes I've heard mostly positive reviews, but also mixed anecdotes about quality control issues. They are priced the same. I would appreciate any help in making a decision, thanks alot!
Hii! Do you guys have any suggestions for a beginner friendly drumkit? I am new to drumming, but as a metalhead I wanna have a kit where I can attach a douple foot pedal. Greetings from Germany!
I’ve been a drummer for a while, more specifically for metal for around 2 years now. As with most Portnoy fans, I’m in love with the sound of cymbal stacks and now I’ve got the rest of my cymbals to the level I want them I’m looking at stacks. Is it better to buy specific FX stacks as sold by companies or make your own? Any advice and recommendations (for store bought or the best individual ones to put together) are welcome
110 to 140bpm 16th notes on the feet are harder then 18 to 250bpm ( it obviously used to be the opposite ) this has especially happened since I got my new pedals which are compression string.
What can I do to make slow/ mid tempos easier ?
Just some death metal for yall’s evening. Cheers! #garoted
I am getting decent at heel toe at higher tempos but I'm noticing after about 200-210, the hits are not consistently triggering on my SPD-SX and RT-30K. I have been experimenting with settings and I have to keep the threshold at 17 otherwise it picks up the vibration of my other drums. I have filled my kick up with 3 pillows, 1 of them pressed up against the beater side. Is there any other tricks I should try or should I just focus on improving my technique for more consistent hits?
So like you hit the snare and whatever cymbal at the same time like a normal hammer blast, but you hit the kick drum in between your snare+cymbal hit instead of at the same time.

I tried seeing if this was posted before, but couldnt find anything. Im a guitarist with about 6 or 7 songs that need a drum track to. Ive got 2 to an actual tick, if anyone's interested i can get the others ticked too. Unfortunately no money will be involved....yet
Heres one to get an idea: https://on.soundcloud.com/eC2Gn
I want to start playing some fast thrash songs from bands like Kreator, Dark Angel, Slayer etc. but Im struggling to get my right hand up tempo. Is there anything I should look out for in terms of technique or is it just as simple as playing to a metronome everyday until Im ready lol.
A video from Drum technique academy called it that but I just don't understand it. I'm talking about stuff like this this and this , where they say it's basically a side to side motion rather than a vertical one. Now when I do exactly as they say the beater does not move, I also always play with a maxed out spring tension with a decent pedal so I know it's not the pedal's fault. I can sort of mimic a similar swivel motion with the ankle technique but only significantly slower than what I can do normally (and with great pain in my knees afterwards). I've tried applying less pressure, applying excessive pressure, loosening the springs, playing with/without shoes, going from a bigger motion trying to get it to move somehow and nothing seems to work. The biggest problem is it's not really a git gud situation since I can't even do the most elementary movement of the supposed pressure swivel. How am I supposed to practice this?
