WCS

Where do we want the WCS 2015? I saw this and wondered how you want to sort that.

Non-GSL WCS Event Coverage?

I really love that mods have been so diligent about getting the GSL matches up so quickly, but I haven't seen anything on SSL or the international WCS challenger/premier. Will these be uploaded to /r/spoilerfreesc at some point, or is the focus just on GSL right now?

View chat from the time of broadcast on Twitch VODs with Twitch ReChat Chrome Extension.

I am sure many of you already know, but there is a Google Chrome extension called Twitch ReChat that allows you to read the chat on Twitch VODs from when it was live. It works quite well, and it can't have spoilers because it is from when the broadcast was live. Some older VODs occasionally lose support, but it usually works with VODs within the first two weeks of them being created.

Youtube hide progress bar and time bookmarklet

Hi, thanks a lot for providing SpoilerFreeSc.

When watching vods I don't like to see the time and the progress bar, because it kind of tells you what will (not) happen. For this i created a bookmarklet, thought I'd share.

A bookmarklet is a bookmark with some javascript to change something on the current page. To use it, create a new bookmark (e.g. on your bookmarks toolbar), give it a name (whatever you want) and paste the following code in the url field:

javascript:(function(){document.querySelectorAll('.ytp-progress-bar-container')[0].style.display = 'none'; document.querySelectorAll('.ytp-time-display')[0].style.display = 'none';})();

Now click the bookmark when you're on the youtube page. Try not to glance at the time before you do :-)

Maybe this helps someone. Note that it will only work on youtube, and only on HTML5 videos (no flash).

Now, back to watching WCS vods :-)

The end of an era

This will arguably make me updating spoilerfreesc faster cuz updating the spoilerfreesc wiki is faster, and only having to update one site is faster than two!

Will /r/spoilerfreesc be covering Starbow events?

I know ESL is going/already did a starbow tournament, but I think I missed it. Would you guys be open to adding a thread to the main sub?

WCS Europe S3

Hi SpoilerFreeSC! ESL's content for WCS Europe S3 is great, but their site is, in no uncertain language, utterly abysmal. All of their videos on youtube are uploaded with the player names in the titles, which wouldn't be so bad except that they're uploaded out of order. Therefore, it's impossible to view the videos without pure guessing, or by deducing the original matches based on who appears in the decider matches; however, this defeats the purpose since the whole point is to hide how the matches end.

Furthermore, ESL's site itself is only slightly better. If you happen to watch on the day that a certain group airs, you can catch the games via obscured links ("Initial match," "Winner's match," "Loser's match," etc) but they soon disappear as the next group airs, with no archive that exists without an obscene amount of searching. The archives they maintain on their site are searchable, but they're probably just redirects to youtube because they have the same video names and are likewise totally out of order.

If anyone is willing to take this on it would be greatly appreciated!

Tool for generating nice spoiler free viewing pages

I made a simple (free) tool yesterday that will create a nice clean page for viewing a SC2 BoX series that is on youtube without any risk of spoilers (eg seeing that there are only 2 videos in a Bo3). The page it generates is automatically hosted for you for free on mod.it and the whole process of creating should only take a few minutes, you just need to enter the title for the match and some youtube urls.

Here is an example of the output you get when you create a page based on youtube urls: https://vnwduppr.modit.net/

Here is an example of the output when you create a page with twitch urls: https://srueuiwa.modit.net/

Here is the tool for creating new pages: https://mod.it/EnZyoykd/dev

Its not specific to starcraft in any way and you can embed it in external pages, here is a quick example of an embedded LoL series: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/1pz2djahr59vq56/match_template_test.html

What I'd really appreciate is to get some feedback from you guys on exactly what you'd like in terms if a full tournament page would be helpful and if there is anything helpful that a tool like this could provide to make the experience easier / faster for the person putting together the content as well as for the person viewing the content.

If you guys are interested in something like this and have some good ideas I'd be happy to make it.

New CSS theme for /r/SpoilerFreeSC

I've been thinking about doing this for a while and with the help of /u/bauski I cobbled together a new theme today. There may be more changes incoming, but I was kind of proud of this and thought it was worthy of a quick post here.

So visit /r/SpoilerFreeSC and let me know if anything doesn't look right please!

For the new theme I stole little tidbits from /r/loleventvods and /r/csshelp. I stole the logos in the header from somewhere on google image search and put them together in the banner image myself. The league logos (which are also used in the wiki) were all taken from Liquipedia.

The previous style was the wine style from /u/blackstar9000's custom theme set.

New wiki system for /r/SpoilerFreeSC, and request for help on IEM Shanghai/ASUS ROG Summer

After this state of the subreddit discussion I've decided to go ahead with using the subreddit wiki for making event posts. This will allow multiple people to edit events so that a single OP doesn't have to be responsible for the whole thing.

When VODs for an event start to become available there should still be an [Ongoing] post created for it, but now instead of a text post it will a link post pointing to the event wiki page.

See the new wiki index here

I've created placeholders for some upcoming events which are now linked from the sidebar.

I will be out of town during IEM Shanghai and ASUS ROG Summer so if anyone can help with those events it would be appreciated.

REQUEST: Acer TeamStory Cup collection of spoiler-free VoDs.

So I noticed that Acer TeamStory Cup is listed as a "premiere tournament" on Liquipedia, yet there isn't a thread for that tournament on /r/spoilerfreesc, sc2links, or sc2ratings. If someone could create one, that'd be great! I think I might even be willing to contribute, although I don't know if I'd be able to do it in a timely manner.

GSL Season 5

Request

I'm currently working my way through this season of GSL. Right now I'm on Group B ro32 and I've bookmarked a page that shows me only the rest of the ro32.

I was wondering if someone could kindly post the ro16, ro8 etc links, just so I don't have to browse through the pages as they say the players playing in them.

Request: 2012 OSL Season 1

There seems to be a lot of interest in VODs for 2012 OSL Season 1.

/u/callsignViper has already collected the links for Day 1 here. Would anyone be able to keep this up in an [Ongoing] post for /r/SpoilerFreeSC?

A note on anti-spoiler links. /r/SpoilerFreeSC contributors please read.

Someone pointed out to us that if you've mistakenly clicked on an anti-spoiler link for a game that doesn't exist (such as Game 3) then any other anti-spoiler links that use the same dummy destination will now show as visited in your browser, spoiling some results. So please try to make dummy links in anti-spoilers unique (something like Game 3).

I've also added a mention of this to the generic post template.

Thanks!

IEM Season VII - Global Challenge Cologne

IEM Season VII - Global Challenge Cologne will be held August 15-19. For their last event VODs were not immediately available and were only released on esl-world.net. So I probably won't be making an [Ongoing] post, and will wait until they have their own spoiler-free vod page like this one, and then just link to that in a [Completed] post.

Edit: Some of the VODs are going up right away and otacon is linking to them here so I went ahead and made an [Ongoing] post for the event.

WCS VODs?

We're making an effort at SC2Links.com to index the WCS Vods - ESL.tv has done a great job of breaking up their large segments from twitch (http://www.twitch.tv/esltv_sc2 | not sure if you want to index these yourself!), but i fear Dreamhack won't split them up and no one has touched the WCS China VODs.

Anyone have an interest in scrapping the VODs from WCS China and WCS Nordic Nationals?

[Request]VOD post in SpoilerFreeSC for the IPLFC at Hot Import Nights?

I don't know if the event is finished yet but I had to leave after the first bo3, so I'd like to watch the VODs when they go up without being spoiled, if possible. Thanks for the awesome subreddit, guys.

Generic Post Template

Update July 2013: We will now be listing VODs in the wiki instead of in text posts, then linking to the wiki page from a link post in the subreddit. Fortunately formatting in the wiki works mostly the same as in comments and text posts with a few added features so almost everything below is still the same. See the wiki editing help page for more information.

This template is geared towards short-term tournaments (lasting just a few days or less) and might not fit as well for long-term league coverage. So just use your best judgement in arranging things in a way makes logical sense for someone watching the VODs.

  • The title of the post should begin with either [Ongoing] or [Completed] to indicate if the event is still in progress when you are posting. For [Ongoing] events please create a corresponding [Completed] post copying everything over when the event ends and all VODs are included. Do not delete the original [Ongoing] post.

  • Begin a post with a general description of the event. I like to use the description from the Liquipedia event page, but you don't have to. Just give credit if you copy it from somewhere. Then if there are any good infographics for the event such as pay structures for watching VODs or tournament formats include those. Also you can optionally include a formatted table displaying the player groups when applicable.

  • After that you can include a section for recommended matches if any are known.

  • For early rounds of tournaments it's fine to display the player names because it doesn't spoil any results. Also include the matchup ([TvT], [ZvP], [PvT] etc..) if you can. For later rounds hide the players and matchup information in mouseover text to avoid spoiling results. Use the following format to make a hovertext spoiler: [Match 1](<Link URL> "[PvZ] Player 1 vs Player 2")

  • For matches with separate videos for each game either use this tool to make an embedded page for the match or include links for all possible games even if they didn't happen (include a game 3 anti-spoiler link even when a best of 3 ends in 2 games). Try to make the dummy destination of all anti-spoiler links unique (such as "/EventName-Player1vPlayer2-antispoiler") so that if someone has mistakenly clicked on an anti-spoiler before other anti-spoiler links don't show up with a different color in their browser (marking an already visited location).

  • At the very end include any links to more information or discussion about the event. Be sure to label these with [SPOILERS] before the link.

  • If you use Reddit Enhancement Suite you will see a "source" button below this post. You can click on that to see how everything in this example is formatted and copy/paste it for use in your own post.

Everything below this double line represents the template for an actual post.
