Known for its darkness, heavy bass, and fast flows; Memphis Rap originated in the early '90s with the likes of DJ Squeeky, DJ Zirk, DJ Spanish Fly, and early Three 6 Mafia. Perhaps most notably, it was Memphis Rap, along with Miami Bass, that laid the groundwork for Crunk and Trap. Memphis Rap was crucial to the Horrorcore movement, as its grimey and often sinister production complemented its hardcore lyricism. Additionally, it was the first style of rap to feature true tongue twisting.

DJ Sound's first tape released under DJ Sound Productions in 1993. This features "Always Locin" by Player 1 & Bloodybones on the B Side.
Enjoy! As clean as it gets.
So i watched an interview with blackout about the sample for the song Syko sounds and he says the part that goes "blackout got them psycho sounds that you bustaz ???" Is sampled from an unreleased song called just a waken shaken part 2 and Unfortunately this is the only question the interviewer asked about something like that and it got me wondering if any other songs had unreleased samples so i wanted to know if anybody knew where the sample from murda mix comes from that goes "if they find me im the fuckin' killa" link to the interview is whats listed for anyone who hasnt seen it
Super random post but I’m just wondering if anyone here happens to know why the explicit version doesn’t exist anywhere. Rly curious to see if anyone knows cuz it seems so random to me lmao
Mostly samples and a Casio SA-76 recorded on audacity, then microcassette, then back again. What methods do you guys use when trying to replicate memphis sounds?
Looking to buy this but I always hate seeing stains on the sticker presses. I almost always stay way from sticker press anyways. Stains are too common and when I see them I stay clear. Like did you really grab the tape after eating ribs? I will say the j card looks correct
Here something i worked whit FL studio :)

One of my favorite fly projects RIP Bill Chill!
I wanna use this kick for my production. and been looking for it for a long time. In Wanted: Dead or Alive, it sounds so aggressive and punchy, so if anybody know kick’s name or how to replicate it, please share in comments🙏🏼
Does anyone know who produced Pimpin & Robbin? I always thought it was Paul but recently I’ve been thinking it sounds more like a Juicy beat, somebody help me
It's cool af and I wanna know where it's from
Shout out to The Shocker for uploading this classic junt 🔥.
One of the earlier Memphis Rap tapes and one of Tela's earlier albums. This one has more of a G Funk and West Coast sound, considering that was the popular sound in the early to mid 90s. This was produced by Tela, Boss Game and Money Rip and released under Undersiege Productions and Big Racket Music.
The Kenfolks were Tela, Money Rip, Boss Game, Cody Mac, and Chozen. Cody Mac and Chozen would later appear on Delax & Flow 1-1's Black Kennedys and they and Money Rip were also apart of the Monsta Klick. According to a comment left by Tommy Wright on IG, Tela was apart of another group called The Levels before he got signed to Suave House.
I really like the sound and atmosphere of 90s-2000s rlmemphis rap but I'm Christian and feel my field being observed and it deeply disturbs me. Any non wizardly Memphis rap recommendations?
One of my favorite covers!
Just a heads up for anyone that hasn’t gotten their copy yet! I’m almost sold out of these and if you want one I definitely wouldn’t sleep. Check the comments for the link and a discount code!
