Melodic death metal is a subgenre of metal that combines elements from the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) with components of death metal. Melodic death metal began in the early 1990s through the rise of bands such as In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and At The Gates.

These guys are dropping songs like crazy right now. New band, only 6 subscribers
I'm looking for melodeath bands with clean vocals only. I love Arch Enemy and in the album "Anthems of Rebellion" there are some clean vocals I like a lot, for example in "End Of The Line" and "Dehumanization". Can someone suggest some bands? Thanks.
Every band I get into and I already like a few songs and I get deeper I find that the rest is just generic. Worse, I don't remember hearing these songs because they sound pretty much the same. I guess the growls don't help it either because it's like what else can be put in to make it sound different.
I like
Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Insomnium, Orbit culture,
These bands are good but then again maybe not all of you will agree with me but some of these bands' songs sound super generic to the point where I don't remember hearing them it might be just me tho.
I also don't expect all songs to be memorable or good because every album has at least 10 songs and this is the biggest problem of metal bands. Each album should have between 3-5 excellent songs, it's also pretty crazy to expect a band in this style at least not to sound the same, it's really super hard even with the super talented musicians.
Do you agree ?
I guess this is kind of a rant with a few questions mixed in?
Put simply: I really like melodeath. Though I dip into a few other genres, it is definitely my favorite and the one I listen to the most. I like bands like Insomnium, DT, The Halo Effect, Be'lakor, Shade Empire, Soilwork, Shadow of Intent and Garden of Shadows. I guess those are just the popular bands besides maybe GoS but it's what I listen to. Occasionally stuff like Opeth or Swallow the Sun. DT is one of, if not my favorite band-- at least right now. I was so happy when they announced a show near me, because it feels like the closest show of my favorite bands are always in Helsinki or some shit.
I guess it's obvious that I would like melodeath if I'm posting in this subreddit but I think the reason I feel the need to explain myself is because I'm 14 and I only know one other person my age who likes the same type of music as me. This is really unfortunate for me because she is my girlfriend and her dad really hates me and will not allow her to go the concert with me. Is it OK to go by myself? And will I feel out of place? Not only is melodeath not popular among kids my age but DT is an older band anyways, I already know everyone there will be in there 40s or something. I don't have a problem with that and most 40 year olds I hang out with are really chill though I do sometimes fear that they secretly don't like me because I am a child. I really really do like DT and I'll go anyways regardless of whether the answers to those questions are not satisfactory, but that kind of brings me to another point.
I tried listening to Amorphis, and I didn't really like them? I only listened to a few songs but they seemed really light. Do you have any recommendations that will get me into their music? Fires in the Distance seems pretty sweet. Overall, what should I expect from the concert? It will be my first concert I've ever gone to.
I'm aware this is probably 'cringe' or maybe just an immature post, but I'm fine with that. I feel like recently I've started to accept that I'm just a kid and immaturity is a part of me, and I'm a little scared to know that one day such a fundamental part of my identity might leave me. But that's not necessarily relevant to the post.
Thanks for your assistance.
P.S. I feel it may be somewhat important to note that by the time I go to the concert I will be 15. Maybe it isn't relevant though.
