All about X
Mega Man X (after X4 stylized as Megaman X), known in Japan as Rockman X (ロックマンX Rokkuman X), is a Mega Man series of action platform video games released by Capcom. It was initially released on December 17, 1993 in Japan (January 1994 in North America) on the Super NES/Super Famicom and spawned sequels on several systems, most of which were later ported to the PC platform. The plot is a continuation of the preceding series, Mega Man. The game play introduced new elements to the Mega Man franchise including the ability to dash and climb walls. The first six games in the series were compiled in the anthology Mega Man X Collection.

About a year ago I decided to play through the first four MegaMan X games. I really liked them all except the third one. TBH I actually kinda hated it. I felt the enemy design was uninspired, I didn’t really like most of the soundtrack, and I felt it was too slow. I beat it just to say I beat it and swore off playing it ever again. A year passes and I’m playing through the games again. Once I beat the second one, I decided I would give the third one another try. And I was enjoying it a little more than the last time I played through it. However I was still having the same problems as I was when I first played through the game and still not really liking it overall. I had beaten all the Mavericks and I was going through the stages to collect the power ups I left behind when I realized the in Blizzard Buffalos stage you could pick up the air dash upgrade without needing anything. Once I realized this I decided to give the game another try. This changed everything for me. From here on out the game felt way more natural than it did last time. While I tried to pick up everything I could my first playthrough, I didn’t pick this up until trying to get all the secrets I could without looking things up so I went through most of the game without and it wanted to just beat so I could say I beat it. Anyways, since I had a newfound enjoyment; it also led me to realize that what the games lacks in speed, it makes up for it in power. Of course the rider armor is there and as underutilized as I felt it was it was still pretty fun. But also I realized these power ups were some of the best in the entire series. While I still had issues with the music and enemy design, and I still consider it the worst of the SNES trilogy. I have a newfound appreciation for the game and look forward to replaying it now.
TLDR: if you’re having trouble getting into MegaMan X3, I would try getting the air dash in Blizzard Buffalos stage first, beat Tunnel Rhino for his drill weapon, then head to Blast Hornets stage to unlock the Rider Armor.
I've looked for a thread about this around the Web but just couldn't find it. Was High Max supposed to be a giant and was scrapped due to time constraint or some other reason? In this official ARTWORK he clearly seems to be enormous. Was this ever explained in some guide or interview?
