!Not saying that it is bad, I had fun while watching it, I just don't get it why does it even exist? It barely developed any previous characters, added two random characters, which are Chief and Mac and then immediately burried them. Without the second season no one would ever know that Nanbu died and that Joe ran away and etc. What's the point of telling all of that and not developing it any further and cutting it off?!<
Title.
No I don't actually think this is a good idea (although as far as anime goes, this one would probably be more doable than something like...Gurren Lagann or Kill la Kill).
I think someone like Anya Taylor-Joy could do a wonderful Yukiko Shirato (if we're thinking outside each character being japanese/asian, from how the series is presented it always seemed like an ethnic mixed bag, and Yukiko reminds me of an american nepo baby) given how she's always able to say so much with just facial expressions.
Hi guys, I just finished MegaloBox seasons 1 & 2 in only a few days, and I really enjoyed the show. MegaloBox wasn’t like a typical sports anime that only focuses on the main character's development. The plot, the story—everything was great. To be honest, I’ve enjoyed sports anime like Kuroko no Basket (KNB), Slam Dunk, Haikyuu!!, and many others, but my experience with MegaloBox was different.
What I enjoyed the most about MegaloBox was the soundtracks. They were amazing and hit differently every time I listened to them.
In conclusion, MegaloBox is one of my favorite sports anime I’ve ever watched. If you have any recommendations, let me know down below!
Where can i watch megalobox in English dubbed? I searched hard but couldn't find a site or anything that offers both seasons dubbed.
Just something with the vibe art style and general stuff
First, let me talk about this episode. Now there was so point where I didn't think Joe and Yuri's fight was gonna last the entire episode and I don't know why. I was expecting it to last the whole episode and turns out it did which was definitely a good thing. Joe vs. Yuri just has to my favorite fight because of the nasty ass punches they were throw at each other and the cliffhanger of an ending to the fight which I slightly had a feeling Joe was gonna win and he did. I was literally not expecting the fight to last 13 rounds too which is probably why that fight lasted the whole episode. When I Yuri without his Al Gear and I saw all the red marks. I was like, "Damn, I know that surgery (Which I didn't even know Yuri was having surgery) was painful ass process." I also interested me that Yuri wanted to take no breaks because if he sat down, he would feel all this pain from the surgery and won't be able to stand so wanted to win by staying on his feet the entire time. I loved that Nanbu was dropping some facts before the fight too. I can't remember what he said exactly. But he did say during the fight "He's been out there, in the dark, making his way toward the light." Which I think is deep. I think I remember Sachio saying something about Yuri's Al Gear in one episode so I wasn't too sure surprised when Nanbu asked Sachio "How's Yuri doing?" I did notice Yuri's character development just off him showing up to the celebration party. Me personally, I thought the music while Joe was outside at the end of the episode warming up for the second Megalonia tournament (Which I'm definitely ready for) sounded weird. It was just weird music to add while a character was warming up in my opinion. I liked how it ended on Joe's card to remind everyone that Joe went from "JNK.DOG" to Joe.
Overall, I say this season was dope. The fights were obviously great even though I don't how the rest of fights turned out besides the parts of the fights I mentioned in past episode reviews. I do have one thing to say about the dog in the opening. I was literally waiting this whole time for Joe to transforms into that dog and it never happened. I'm sure y'all felt the same way. Now I figured that the dog was just like describing Joe as the junk dog.
A couple more things, first off, remember in my episode 11 review, I said that while I'm watching subbed anime and whenever I read a big word, I always pause the show, look up that word and see what it means. For season 2 and from now on actually, I'm gonna stop doing that. Even though I'm not much of a big word person, I'm gonna read through the big words anyways (without knowing the meaning of that word) while reading subtitles. My reasoning for that is because if I do it, then it would take me an hour to finish an episode. If I stop doing it, then it'll just be fast and quick and it'll take me past half an hour I think to finish an episode which brings me to a question. If anybody could please answer and let me know what I should do. Continue to read big words, pause the show, and look up those words to see what they mean or stop and read the big words anyways without knowing the meanings of those words? Thank you. I'm also trying to stop pausing an episode as much while watching subbed anime by myself. My goal is to never pause and just watch the whole episode through. Not for it to look like I'm repeating myself, But I'm trying to not do the stuff I do while watching subbed anime by myself and I'm sure everyone else does while watching subbed anime by themselves (Rewind when you missed a line, having their phone next to them and it being faced up, etc) and just like I said, watch an episode the whole way through.
Just off my third paragraph and me watching subbed anime for the first time off of my TV, I'm gonna be honest, I learned so much about watching subbed anime and how people watch it. I actually started off my anime journey by watching the last episode of Hunter X Hunter in Sub on Netflix with my family which is one of the main reasons I became an anime fan. That and RDCworld of course, I was watching their anime videos and their other stuff before watching the last episode of Hunter X Hunter in Sub on Netflix with my family that day. Just thought I had to mention those things, But when I would watch subbed anime by myself which I still do currently, I was mostly watching subbed anime on my phone, But then after my coworker (I don't remember our exact conversation) that I watch subbed anime off my phone and that I would go back and forth between reading the subtitles and watching the show, he was like "That's a problem, I recommend you watch on your laptop or TV, But TV is better." I think that's what he said. I don't remember, But I think that's what he said which brings me to another question. Again, If anybody could please answer and let me know what they recommend is a better way to watch subbed anime. Do I watch subbed anime on my TV or my laptop from now on because I'm never watching subbed anime on my phone again. Thank you.
One more thing before I truly wrap this up, there was a moment in the first episode when Joe and Yuri were about to fight in the rain and when Yukiko called Yuri's name, I was fucking robbed of a good ass fight scene, I was like "No!"
Okay, that's it everyone. Thanks for reading all my episode reviews. I'm ready to start season 2, But I start my next semester of college in a couple weeks so l'm gonna have to put anime on the shelf for a while because of that. Once I have the time again, I'm jumping on season 2. I'll be back with the season 2 episode reviews too. See y'all then.
When Yuri said that he wanted to fight with no Gear, I literally thought he was tripping, I was like "What the fuck, what's Megaloboxing without Gear," But then when he started telling Yukiko about how he finally found his dream opponent, which happened to be Joe, I then understood why he wanted to fight Joe without Gear. At first, I literally didn't know or never noticed when I saw Nanbu's face taped that he actually lost his eye. I was like "What?? He lost his eye??" Now that I'm thinking about it, it's wild to me that he can't see anymore, But he can hear Joe's punches when he's training and he lets him know if he's on the right foot or not which is the bright side to that. When Yuri went to go visit Mikio to have his Al Gear removed, I didn't know Mikio lived in like a forest or somewhere far away from A.C.E. I also forgot that Yuri's Al Gear was part of his body probably because I had work yesterday and Saturday. lol. So when Mikio said that, I immediately knew that it was gonna be a painful process and once I saw the blood scrape on Yuri's chest I knew that had to hurt for some reason When Yuri said that he wanted to fight with no Gear, I literally thought he was tripping, I was like "What the fuck, what's Megaloboxing without Gear," But then when he started telling Yukiko about how he finally found his dream opponent, which happened to be Joe, I then understood why he wanted to fight Joe without Gear. One more thing, another thing I do while watching subbed anime is I keep my phone face down so that I won't get distracted by notifications and that I won't miss anything. I'm pretty sure everybody knew and did this trick already, But I found this trick out from watching RDCworld1's video "How Watching Subbed Anime Be" and in the first 12 seconds of the video, Mark (Whose technically the leader of the group and also the guy in the video) has his phone face up and so he gets a notification on his phone and he looks away from the show and gets distracted and he looks back at the show and he misses a lot. lol. I didn't want that for myself so l keep my phone face down because I want no distractions while I'm watching an episode of any anime in Sub whatsoever.
Because I'm a huge RDCworld fan, here's the link to their video: https://youtu.be/O3m9lHjiRBo?si=pZGLDWNiGfx1ajeT
I'm so happy with how they turned out! Megalo Box is a story that impacted my life and I wanted to carry it with me everywhere I go!
When Glen started speaking English again, I was like "So he don't understand Japanese or something? So he just an English speaker and prefer Dub." lol. Also, I thought a couple parts in Sachio's song were well written. I also noticed the "Power Of Friendship" trope coming in when Joe saw that Sachio came to Megalonia when Joe was at a disadvantage if I remember and came back and won the fight because of Sachio's presence. Quick questions too before I wrap it up, One thing I do or l've noticed I do while watching subbed anime is whenever l'm reading a big word, I always pause the show, look up that word and see what it means. Who can relate to this? The reason I'm asking is l'm not much of a big word person. I just find myself using words like that. Let me know if anybody else relates to this or it's just me.
I was impressed with Sachio's voice actor when Nanbu if I remember was trying to convince Sachio into going to Megalonia with him even though I already know Japanese voice actors put in more emotion than American voice actors in general. There was one part where Burroughs started speaking English, I was literally like "Why tf is he speaking English? This is Sub." Both of Sachio's parents dying was sad. That's probably why Nanbu wanted Yukiko to take Sachio. The line "That's the thing about sweet dreams…It always hurts when you wake up." I thought was very deep. I also noticed Joe and Yuri's relationship development. One more thing speaking of Yukiko, after watching this episode, She is 💯% a waifu.
I was a tiny bit disappointed that the episode started off with Round 2 of Joe and Mikio's fight because I wanted to see the whole thing. There was one part in the fight where Mikio gave Joe a nasty ass uppercut and knock out of the ring. I honestly loved that shit. Joe's uppercut was also dirty, But Mikio's was way better. I have to clap it up for the writing in this episode too. Lines as such "It's not the Gear that decides who wins, it's the fighter." and "Was it A.C.E. that wanted to go for the straight or was it me?" were superb. Also, when Joe didn't keep his guard up and dodged the punches instead of blocking, I was like "Nah, no way." I also thought Mikio was weak for trying to wrestle, I was like "Are you serious, Mikio? Why you tryna wrestle?" There was one point during Mikio and Yuri's conversation where Mikio said he had nothing to do with Yuri's AI Gear, I was like "Wtf? You literally made the Gear?"
Got to the 2nd episode of the 2nd season of MegalowBox on Crunchyroll and realised I'd been watching season 2 the whole time and I didn't realise because Crunchyroll only has one of the seasons. I've been enjoying it so far but do I need to watch season 1 of it to properly understand?
Once I found out that Mikio and A.C.E. was behind Yuri's Al Gear, I was like, "Ain't no way." No wonder why Mikio wants his gear to be the best. Yuri is the MegaloBox champion because of that gear after all. I was also do not know that Joe and Mikio's match was set up by Mikio the whole time all because he didn't get chosen by his grandfather as Shirato's successor. I would say wow and put a rolling eye emoji. lol, But this was obviously a way of him trying to get into the Megalonia tournament. I was shocked when Yukiko said "...not someone who won by default." I was thinking "She's side against her brother? Why would she do that?," But when she said "This doesn't mean I trust you." and "This is your last chance, Brother." I was like "Okay, good," But I was shocked when Mikio said "I'll do anything to destroy you." I was like "What does he mean by that? Destroy Yukiko? No way." Someone let me know what Mikio meant by that sentence. I do have a feeling that Yukiko is gonna trust Joe later on. One more thing, I've been saying Mikio's name wrong. I thought it was "Mikiko" because I thought his and Yukiko's names sounded the same. lol 😂
That isn’t a bad quality jpeg print on a mug
I don't know why*
Which is your favorite voice of Gearless Joe?
Ignore the "the" next to Joe's name. I forgot to take that out because I was I having second thoughts.
My title is exactly why I chose to watch this show in the first place. I was interested in this show because it was a boxing anime.
