Needs a lot of rust repair, but Cat 3208 is strong. Anyone have a lead on a good cab for sale? 1985? L8000/9000
I really like how this came out! Opted for the ceramic film to mitigate a little heat, but I’ve also got about $1500 worth of Dynamat to install, too. Who wants to come pull an interior apart with me?? 😂 🤷🏻♂️
Finally got a nice pic of the tonneau cover in my 89 F-800. It’s the Diamondback HD 8’ with low-profile cab guard. The big box in the middle was installed by Kovatch Fire Apparatus, so it’s original to the fire truck. The bed is from a 2020 Super Duty.
Next addition is ceramic tints, upholstery in November, and for Christmas I’m buying myself a Decked full-pull 2k lbs drawer. I want a place to permanently mount my Milwaukee Pack-outs.
Sorry if anyone has seen this elsewhere, I’ve been sharing with my various groups/social. Love this thing!! 🚒
im having some issues registering my truck. its a 19k gvwr f550, and i bought it at an auction. i was under the impression / had read that you can drive / own up to 26,000# without a cdl or dot number, as long as its for personal use / non commercial. i had a long discussion with the auction company at the time, and they didnt seem to know how to register it without a dot number, they wanted to register it as a 1 ton truck with a 10k gvwr, i told them no i need it registered for its proper weight and they said they found a solution. i got the title / plate and its registered as a 1 ton truck with a 15k gvwr. so i called the auction company again and they tried to talk to the dmv but they also said i need a dot.
anyone have any info about what the actual law is? thanks

I might be picking up a single axle 92 GMC topkick with a 26' custom aluminum box and CAT engine, not sure if it is the 3116 or the 3126. The truck was parked and hasn't moved since 2020 any tips on getting this started and ready to roll? This will be a project truck for me just not sure what the project is yet. The price is good enough that I'll probably be taking it running or not.
I’m looking to buy a new hooklift truck next year to start a dumpster rental business. I need help deciding which truck to get. I’m leaning towards the ford f600 or the f650. A good friend of mine is a lead mechanic at the local Ford dealer so that’s why I’m choosing Ford. I’m not biased to other brands, but which would you choose between these two? I’m looking at the gas because of the cheaper maintenance cost and the unreliable emissions systems that the diesels have now. Is the 4wd and better maneuverability of the f600 worth sacrificing to get the bigger f650 that can haul a little bigger dumpster and hold one extra ton? Thanks for your input.
2024 f600 $122,000 7.3L with 10 speed 4wd with a 4.88 rear axle ratio Has a Swaploader sl-160 (10-14’ dumpsters) with automatic tarp Max payload ~8000lbs in a 15yd dumpster
2024 f650 $140,000 7.3L with 6 speed 2wd only with 6.50 rear axle ratio Has a Swaploader sl-212 (10-16’ dumpsters) with automatic tarp Max payload ~10,000lbs in a 15yd dumpster
Thought this would be a fun idea. Obviously, most guys have a combination of all of them, but if you had to go with just one, which would you pick?
Hey guys so my dads tow truck has been having issues with the transmission, we’ll start it in the morning everything runs as advertised but as soon as we get back home turn it off and drive as we go for another tow it won’t go into overdrive we’ve changed the radiator as we thought maybe the trans oil maybe got too hot or something and the scanner just throws codes for over heating but we’re not sure what it is cause bam the next morning working perfect again, lmk anything helps really
I have no brake lights but have everything else. Changed the relay and that didn't help. I have found this box next to my controls on my flatbed which is labeled. When I went into the box last night I found 2 different problems. 1 of the studs is broken and the second one is that the other stud is stripped to where I can't put a nut on it.
I’m about to invest in a chip truck for my tree company. I currently have a bucket truck with a chip box (forestry body) and an F350 for pulling my dump trailer. I would like to replace my F350 with a chip truck to add to my towing capacity as well as my chip hauling capabilities. My dump trailer is a bumper pull (not a goose neck). Several companies sell these trucks and offer multiple choices for the cab and chassis such as Mack, Freightligner, and F750 for all about the same price point of $115k. See photo. My question is are there any good reasons to go with one truck over another? For example, I’ve heard that in the past people have had trouble with F750s when they’ve taken them in for issues and been given the run around (eg. Ford telling them it’s a Cummins problem, Cummins telling them it’s a Ford problem). I have a CDL so I’m not too worried about 26k vs 33k. But I would like to have air brakes and 4x4. It’s sandy here and easy to get stuck even in dry yards. It’ll be a work truck obviously so it doesn’t need to be plush, but I would like AC. My current truck is a stick and it’s wearing out my knee, so an automatic is also important to me. Personally I find Fords more comfortable than freightliners, and I hate the school bus feel to the freightliner steering wheel (but maybe there’s an option to change it?). I’ve never driven a Mack or a Heno. The only other consideration that could seriously sway me is MPG differences. I currently have an 8.1 gas bucket truck that gets 4mpg. It replaced my diesel bucket truck that got 6+mpg. That 50% improvement alone is with paying extra for a diesel truck and I’ll never buy another gas bucket truck. But are there appreciable MPG differences between the diesel engines in a Mack, Freightliner, or F750? Are there rear end options to consider to maximize fuel economy without obliterating towing capabilities? What about lifespan? Can you realistically get 500k miles out of a Ford like you can out of a Mack, Freightliner, or Heno? I’m sure there are other things I haven’t even thought to consider. But basically lowest total cost of ownership and reliability will be more important to me than looks or brand name. Downtime is a killer for me since I have a very small fleet. If a single truck goes down it can really hamper my small business. Thanks in advance for your advice!
I have a 2013 Ford F650. The front display on the radio will not work. I have tryed to switch out the radio and it still won't show anything on the display. I had bought the radio from a junk yard so I don't know if it had worked prior to me buying it. The old radios display would work when I got it a few times.
I have a 2013 Ford F650 turn signals work but not the brake lights
Ok so I have a 2013 Ford F650 medium duty rollback, I used it last night to do a tow and then ran to the store. I shut I shut it off at the store and was in there for like an hour came out and it started right up. I went to go do a call this morning went to start it and when I turn the key it doesn't do anything. It says it's in neutral. What can it be?
