Stumbled upon this Louis IX Gros tournois. It is a nice piece, sold by FESOJK. Just a heads up, how does it look to you?

It is not in perfect condition, but everything is still readable and visible. It is from FESOJK/Koci from Prague. Do you have some experience with the dealer? Thanks! :)

Hi to all! :) A question - what do you guys think, was this gigliato minted during Robert d'Anjou's reign or is it posthumous?

Greetings to all! I have been searching for my first medieval coin and I had my eye out for a Robert d'Anjou gigliato, because of the nice style and size of the coin. Now, I know that some of the series of these coins were minted posthumously. How can you tell if it is posthumous or during reign? I noticed that on mints marked 'posthumous' the legend on the obverse is 'RobertN' or 'RobertD', while I noticed other coins, like this, have 'Robertus' on the obverse. Is that one of the keys to differentiating the two mint periods? :)

Thanks!

Quality of manufacture

Medieval coins seem very poorly made compared with modern ones. When was the art of coin stamping perfected?
