We're number 1 in the constructors baby!!! 🧡
Just purchased these Alonso race-used and signed boots from 2017.
I'm a sucker for the sponsors' branding aspect of F1 and thought these had a slick design with both Alonso's own logo as well as the Johnnie Walker branding.
Here's an Oscar Piastri edit I made. I make F1 posters (You can find them here: https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODcwNzY4NzAyOTc5OTQx?story_media_id=3176937806110760245_58887367549&igsh=aDFlYmFwMnB4M2Rj) because I'm bored and I hope to get recognition someway or the other 🥺
In all of Lando’s wins, Max has finished 2nd. And both of Oscar’s wins, Lando has outscored Max. We really need Oscar in between the two if Lando has a chance of winning the title
So in the final quarter of the season we'll have three sprints as opposed to only 3 in the first 18 races. This is big because we'll have a big opportunity to gain points to pull away from Red Bull in the Constructors and for Lando to potentially cut into Max's lead in the WDC more than usual.
Obviously we can't expect Lando to win out, but unlike earlier this year where Red Bull was the clear #1 team they'll be around the #2-#3 mark heading into this final stretch. This means that both Lando and Oscar can put pressure on by having great qualifiers in both the sprint and GP races.
I know Austin is still a long ways off but I'm excited for what this home stretch will bring.
Does anyone have an iPhone wallpaper of lando standing on his car with the fireworks going on in the background after his win in Singapore? I can’t find a pic that hasn’t been cropped.
McLaren has gone without major upgrades since Miami, with only small refinements being made to certain components in the many races since, however even without a large upgrade package McLaren continue to be at the very front of F1, with the ability to utterly dominate in some weekends. Even with this incredible pace, compared to rivals who've bought more packages, Stella is weary of other teams being able to jump them with their own big upgrades if McLaren fail to act soon.
“We do have some stuff in the pipeline, and obviously, when you have this kind of performance on track, you always may approach things from a cautious point of view in terms of development.
“But at the same time, we need to trust the process. We need to trust the way we've been working so far.
“I've said already that we have taken our time to make sure that once we deliver track side, we have done the due diligence. So, I don't think this will change our plans.”
“In Formula 1, I'm not sure you can back off too much, because backing off means that the others may catch up,” he said.
“And we don't know what the plans of the others are. Red Bull, we see that in a track in which they thought they would not have been very competitive ultimately, they were potentially second best.
“And I think we haven't seen Ferrari [at its best], as even in P1, P2, they seemed to be as fast as us.
“So, I think this race may have been a bit flattering. The situation from a competitiveness point of view, I would say we need to keep being aggressive in terms of development.”
Earlier in the season, Stella suggested that McLaren may not bring any more big upgrades, instead bringing smaller upgrades throughout the year to bring little bits of performance quicker, however chief designer Rob Marshall indicates the latest set of upgrades could come in a bigger package.
“It's about chasing downforce all the time,” he said. “We kind of like to gather the chunks up and deliver it in a big hit.
“So far we've just been focusing on basically gathering those bits up. At some point hopefully we'll have another upgrade to deliver.
“In a way it's nice to be delivering lots of little upgrades all the time, a bit like our beam wing here this weekend
“But equally sometimes you just have to hold on a little bit while you wait for a chunk of bits to come all at the same time.
“The advantage in doing that is that often bits don't combine very well, or as well as you think they would. And if you deliver them in one lump, then that sort of combination of parts has been in CFD together, it was developed together, it's been through the wind tunnel together, so you can be more confident that combination of bits works well together.
“Whereas if you do it bit by bit, you might introduce an upgrade on one part and then work on another part and find out actually it's a bit compromised by the previous change you made.”
The hope is, with the big break between Singapore and Austin, it'll give McLaren enough time to finish off R&D and produce the parts to ship to the race at COTA, but no time line has been given yet as to when the upgrades may arrive.
