No, I did not take their order.
I need help, guys.
I'm taking way too long to perform bi-weekly cleaning on the ice cream machine (it's a Taylor C602). It's supposed to take just over 3 hours (according to my GM), but in my two cleans thus far it's taken around 7-8 hours.
I feel bad for the cashier, who has to inform the customers that they can't get ice cream. I feel bad for the customers who are disappointed. I especially feel bad thinking about the possibility of a customer getting angry at the cashier over this. All because of my catastrophically bad performance.
I don't want to half-ass it and finish quickly, because the machine seems to get really nasty - I would not want anyone to be served ice cream from it in that state.
I also don't want to take 7-8 hours. For the cashier, for customers and for my GM who needs to control labor costs.
The main brunt of the initial draining and cleaning stage (before complete disassembly) consists of:
Drain leftover shake/soft mix into buckets. Weigh them and record.
Remove pumps (except for the pump driveshafts which remain in their sockets) and agitator.
Fill each hopper with two 7.6L buckets of hot water (50C). Scrub with round brush (as well as inlet hole with double-end brush) and drain.
Fill each hopper with two 7.6L buckets of delimer solution (2 packets per bucket). Soak for 15-30 minutes. Scrub with non-scratch pad. Drain.
Fill each hopper with two 7.6L buckets of hot water (50C). Drain.
Fill each hopper with two 7.6L buckets of neutral detergent solution. Drain.
Fill each hopper with two 7.6L buckets of tablet sanitizer solution (35C). Scrub with round brush (as well as inlet hole with double-end brush) and drain.
Fill each hopper with two 7.6L buckets of hot water (50C). Drain.
...Even just this initial segment, perhaps one third of the process, takes me around 2 hours. It feels like it takes so long for all that fluid to exit through the front nozzles (especially for the soft-serve side).
And even after disassembly and reassembly, there's even more steps involving filling and draining the machine with different fluids.
And the sink is on the opposite side of the restaurant from the ice cream machine...
...And it feels like I'm just making excuses at this point. But I'm being honest when I say that I can't picture how to do all of this, word-for-word, exactly as the manual describes, within the target time of just over 3 hours.
I feel confident that I can finish the bi-weekly cleaning faster than 7-8 hours (perhaps 6 in an ideal scenario). But just over 3? I have to be missing a huge and critical detail(s).
Any advice from those of you who have experience performing maintenance on this machine (or similar?) Perhaps even just ice cream machines in general? I would appreciate it a lot.
Thank you for reading.
The one who hired me said come in today and wear like black pants and shirt I’m wondering if we going to the paper works stuff like that today cause I finish the file they send me through email like stuff for direct deposit,i9,w-2 etc. this kinda weird cause I remember before they the one who usually do those in their system and what to expect later?
i got two emails to log into my mcdonalds crew account, i try to log in and it says it will redirect me to the screen to reset my password but then it just refreshes to the sign in page again
Hello does anyone work in NJ know if the McRib will be sold in NJ this November? Last year it was not available here.
After 1 shift in 6 weeks I will likely depart maccas soon (Picked rant cause I had to pick a flair)
It's been stuck like this since yesterday I guess. We just gotta wait for the end of the day system to do it's thing
I've been thinking about applying for night crew because I need a job, like Maccas, and I'm not FANTASTIC at talking to people, so I was just wondering how many people are actually getting maccas at like 10pm-6am.
I have the interview next Tuesday and I’m wondering what were the questions they asked you guys for the assistant manager position? I live in Sacramento, CA.
I’m getting tired of not being able to clean this with out the cleaning pouches for Coffee pots
our IT guy tried to update the computer or something and broke everything and for the last 3 days hes been on the store phone trying to fix it and today he was like well the only thing we havent tried is like. turn the whole store network off so the gm was like okay :) and he turned the store off and for about 15 minutes we were taking orders by hand and calculating the total+tax by hand and then when they turned the store back on the ABS was broken and the menuboards still arent working right
and also last night he sat on hold till like 945pm and then got hung up on so he called the store asked me 1 question and then was just like omg no she fuckin hung up on me bro
So I work in western state with our first snow and frigid temps this week, and since I’m back window, I get the FULL effect of winter.
Why does it seem like customers are taking longer after I open said window to figure out which card to pay with or suddenly want to count out their pennies? I’m literally freezing here folks!
Im on a brigade and manager put me on a grill for 5 hours, even tho we are the second biggest Mc in the country, always full of employees, so we normally chamge after hour or two, which is perfectly managable. Today, the manager decided to ruin my life, i had a break after three hours and after that he just said he "needed me" on the grillnfor some reason. After 5 hours this lady saved my life, probably noticed that I was nodding out from the heat and dehydratation (i couldnt even have a drink because business was crazy), and she deliberately took my spot, and whats best after 5 hours of grill? Fryer, according to my manager, but people stood up for me and he put me to wash the sink. What do you think of this? Is this normal? Because im definitely going to be ill tommorow if you know what I mean.
TL:DR: Manager put me 5 hours on grill. Is this normal?
The assembly has never been prettier
Hi i'm sixteen year old and i'm a trainee, today for the first time I was out on chicken(making the nuggets, fingers, sandwich, savers and selects) and it very much overwhelmed, I could of cried but I gotta thought.
The shift manager who was training was really patient with me and i'm very thankful he was cause I made alot it mistake, going into it I was unsure of how I would do but the guidance of the manager it helped...
But it was very overwhelming and fast-paced when I finished my shift I asked him how I did and he said I did good but I needed more time and work on it, it harder remembering where to put which food into which grill...
Hello, I am currently working at a good franchise with good pay but my contract is fixed term so and they said they might resign me but I doubt it and they also hired a lot of people at the same time who might have an advantage over me(international student) I currently have an offer from McDonald’s with less pay but it is permanent and it is literally 5 min from me walking but the pay is less (but uk gov have just announced the increase in minimum wage in April 2025)
My question is how many hours do you usually get per week and keep in mind I am limited to 20 hours term time, because the contract doesn’t specify it.
Thank you for your help
I won it with this being my first month at McDonald’s 😂
I feel like I don’t deserve it, all I do is work back window.
Glitch in the matrix at McD
i’m guess my question is pretty simple: why does the united states not offer the vegan/veggie options on their menus? its so odd to me that pretty much every country i’ve visited (currently in England right now) offers the mcplant and the veggie dippers? it seems like the mcplant would be such a money maker in the US considering it would be a quick and easy option for vegetarians?
I only worked Grill, Side 2 during breakfast, and Hashbrowns, but they had no interest in teaching me any other positions
So my McDonald's is connected to a gas station so we share a bathroom and walk in with them.
Yesterday there was a smell from it of shit you could smell for 100 feet away. Someone had a bad day in there and left a smell for us to deal with!
I hear back cash/booth. Tell me this, and I’m like “this will be funny” Ps I kinda don’t like the nationality tag that’s required, but it makes sense
I just ordered two McDoubles with onion and neither of them had any. I didn't see NY listed as being one of the locations with stuff pulled off the menu because of e coli. Any employees from NY (or other locations not listed in the media) know if onions aren't being served? The location I was at is about an hour north of Syracuse
She asked me like three questions. That was it. i have like five years experience (19) and they haven’t called yet but it was earlier today. Should i be worried she didn’t seem interested in talking or anything?? Do they normally make it simple and short and that’s it?
My night shift averages a large crowd of customers, and it's located in an active family friendly residential area so when its slow it feels like a cause for concern. The new current manager has been freaking out previously, the whole situation feels strange. My coworkers are all on drugs atm, idk if they are while at work (I'm guessing so) but I don't want to be fired along with them because I have no clue what I can do to speed anything up, so I just clean around because all positions are filled.
My location has had a problem with bad coworkers before and the moderation of shift managers is nonexistent, GM barely knows what's going on and even if there's an assumption the moderation is nonexistent as well. I believe a terrible coworker lasted 8 months, left, got rehired, stole a headset, walked out then got fired???
If the store is slow, am I in any danger right now because I have worked at different companies before and usually during slow work ethics, quality is supposed to be assured and yet that's lacking a lot. Usually, at Mcdonald's majority of people visit for deals and this is making me wonder if the crew will get fired and if I'm liable because there's nothing I can do.
I can report them but how long before that comes up in HR?
GM? Nonexistent. She probably knows, just doesn't want to work nights (never heard of this before) GMs are supposed to be working at night when sales are low in the first place...
I'm kind of freaking out because I have another year here because I have a resume to attend to with plans of leaving out of this line of work and I would officially have been here around 3.5 years, which would look nice on a resume with emotional control with it.
