I bought some new low beam halogen bulbs for my 2002 Protege5 and they don't fit. When I look online website say I need an h7 bulb and they look similar to what is already in the car but the prongs are not as far apart so I cannot plug them in. Anyone else had this happen? Anyone know which bulbs do I actually need? Thanks!

Been slowly working on fixing up my Protege5 now I'm only missing a few cosmetic things here and there one of them being the weatherstripping along the windows, any advice and how or where to replace them? Been searching everywhere!

Have always owned hatches so was sceptical on how easy it would be to fit everything into a small sedan. Turns out there's quite a bit of space when you fold the back seats down. In fact I think I ended up playing less Tetris than when I borrow the wife's ASX. Damn I love this car.

So I decided to take the interior of my 2002 protege5 apart to detail it and found this. Does anybody know what it is?

I'm new to doing car work of any kind. I've seen a few people recommend JP Parts Intl. but when I look, they don't have anything in stock. Do I just have to wait until they get more in stock? Is that just how it is with niche parts like that?

twice in the past week I am having some serious throttle response issues after driving car, shutting it off for 15 minutes. Restarting it and then I have no throttle, seems like if i press the pedal to the floor it bogs down and doesn't increase RPM. after about 5 minutes of idling it accels as though nothing is wrong. I'm thinking either fuel pressure reg/ spark plugs/ fuel filter/ fuel pump?

Thoughts?

Update : vehicle is now consistently hitting a hard stumble at 4500 rpm, no check engine lights. 😑

Maf has been cleaned with no change in symptoms.

I'm ruling out spark plugs and coils as they fail and cause a check engine light for misfire (right?)

Something is cauing me to cut spark :(

Update. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump housing/high pressure filter, spark plugs with ZFR5F-11, completed the 1.8 coil swap, with new wires. Tested the tps and getting .5v- 4.9v on full sweep with no dead spots or drops, filled with 93 octane, test fit a known good MAF, installed new o2 sensors. Only check engine code is p0660 for intake butterfly valves system because I have a 626 manifold. Cleaned and replaced air filter. I am at a loss here. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a 2001 Protege LX and was wondering where the best places to get a cooler front bumper would be?

Upgrading my injectors to 565 sti injectors on my 02 protege lx. I know I need a ssafc to control my a/f but have no clue where to find one. Any recommendations on where to buy one? Also any fuel rail upgrades that will fit the 565 injectors?

Had to re-thread two holes of the new radiator bracket, but no vibration! It's not perfectly aligned, but I'd say it is a win for my first time welding :)

I want a new radio for my car like a touchscreen Bluetooth radio but I’ve been looking online and I cannot find one that fits in the radio slot.

Does anyone have any recommendations or any modern radios that you currently use?

Now on the wiring diagram for the aftermarket radio there was a blue wire that says power antenna / amplifier turn on. I didn't connect it to anything as according to the wiring diagram that I found there is no direct wire for the antenna. I did have two wires left over that I think might be it but they don't appear on wiring diagrams.

The two wires that I have left over are a red and black for illumination which I'm assuming this aftermarket radio doesn't support

The other wire is a red and yellow which I can't seem to find anything on.

Does anybody have any idea on what I might be able to do?

I've been looking for Proteges for months, and having a hard time finding a half-decent model. So far, I only managed to come across two examples, but they are selling for way above market value prices, or had an accident (I found a 1999 Protege for almost $6500 at a dealership, and another had reasonable mileage, but was rear ended a few years ago and had mechanical issues). For all the Protege owners, where did you find these cars?

Need help finding the part number of the stock turbo waste gate actuator or some advice on fixing it… its throwing me 2 codes took it to the shop and they recommended replacing it but we are having trouble finding the part or even the part number.

Terrible picture but how do you guys get these off? These are the two spring loaded bolts and nuts that hold the lower exhaust header with the precat to the rest of the exhaust. I sprayed PB blast as a precaution as always for old bolts on an old car. Is this something I need a lift for to get a proper breaker bar in or can I use an impact to get these off?

I had a question about which brand of coilovers to get and if it’s worth getting bc racing coilovers or if I should go with a cheaper brand. I used to own a 2003 protege 5 and sold it about 2 years ago and now am looking to get another protege 5. I like spirited driving and my main focus is keeping traction. This will be my daily car but plan to take it to trail of the dragon after I get all my mods. Are bc racing coilovers worth it or should I get a cheaper set of coilovers? I also wanted to get a front sway bar (if someone makes it or if it makes a big difference on body roll), air intake, front and rear strut tower bars, new set of wheels, and new set of continental dws06 tires. Anyone have any suggestions for the sway bar and strut towers as well?

Is the valve cover on the 1.8 the exact same as the 2.0? Doing the ignition swap for more power on my 2.0 and it seems like they are the exact same thing, but I am not sure
