Met a nice couple in the bushes on the greenway. Laying down on a blanket. My kids and I waved as we finished our family jog. Seems strange they’d be doing taxes out there but that’s what they said. Who I am to call anyone a liar.

Slushed on Morganton Road Sunday

If anyone had a problem with getting "slushed" on Morganton Road between 5-6 pm Jan 16 plz dm me. I've got a complete description of the vehicle and tag and would be happy to provide to the police.

"slushed" is when a vehicle intentionally drives thru the snow slush to create a spary into oncoming traffic.

Looking for an apartment

Hey everyone I’m looking for an apartment for under $600. There are a lot of apartments around town but a lot of them don’t have signage outside where you could even call to get on a waiting list… Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!

In Search of an Optometrist

I'm in search of a local (Alcoa or Maryville) optometrist. Does anyone have any recommendations? Bonus points if they take the Humana Vision Plan.

Green Acres Flea Market - Old Pics or Videos?

Hey everyone, this may be a longshot, but I figured this was as good a place to ask as any. Does anyone here happen to have any old pictures or videos of the Green Acres Flea Market that were taken prior to 2010 (pre-2000 would be even better!)

I practically grew up there, when my mom had a booth throughout the 90's, and we both made so many great friends there. I spent the better part of the decade in the flea market pretty much every weekend, I even met my first girlfriend there lol.

Anyway, it's obviously nothing like it used to be, and the last time I went there, it just made me so sad about what it has become, but it used to be such an important place for me growing up. I would love to see pretty much anything you all may have, whether it's inside or outside, just about anything that would spark my memories would mean so much. I had many pictures I had taken over the years, and they were unfortunately lost over time and damaged in storage.

Thank you all, and hey, even if you don't have any pics or videos by any chance, if you do have any fin stories of going there back in the day, I'd love to hear that too!

Crazy nice outside - might be a heck of a storm tonight

From Weather.com: Thunderstorms possible after 7 pm. Damaging winds, large hail and possibly a tornado with some storms.

Anyone know of a place to rent around here that isn’t owned by rand?

Our property got bought out by rand about a year ago and they’re awful so far. Constant text messages with no way to unsubscribe, big downgrade in maintenance and a big jump in rent probably in the near future. We’re looking for a 2 bedroom under 1200 that is cat and dog friendly but have some wiggle room in the budget. Family friendly would also be a bonus as we have a toddler

Dogs at the EZ Stop at Hunt Rd.

If anyone is missing a dog, there are 2 small dogs running around in the parking lot, right outside Chapuline’s. They’re very friendly and don’t look like they’ve been out for long. One brown and one black and white.

Violations of 18 U.S. Code 1701

9 years ago I proved to the postal service legal department that TDOT had caused the crash of 8 postal vehicles on highway 411. Federal law requires that storm drain grates that are in the path of a vehicle wheel must be rated for highway service. Highway departments had been installing cast iron grates along the side of the highway reasoning that no one drives there. What they forgot is postal workers need to drive along the side of the highway in order to deliver the mail. The postal road clause of the United States Constitution gives postal workers the authority to drive on any portion of the road. The grates collapsed and not only the grates but the structures that supported them causing 8 postal vehicles to crash. Since my report TDOT has removed 2000 grates from 411 and these have not been replaced. The storm drain system was filled in and paved over. In some cases the curb has been removed to allow for natural drainage. I have just cycled the entire length of the road. There are 18 grates that need attention south of Maryville to the county line and only 2 others to the Georgia state line. The Postal police can arrest any one who interferes with the delivery of the mail. You have been warned. https://flickr.com/photos/78934859@N04/10827104995/

Possibly Moving

Hello!

I’m thinking about moving to the Maryville/Knoxville area and I was wondering if someone could give me advice on what specific areas to look for. I’m trying to avoid shady areas but I am not too knowledgeable on that area in terms of what’s good or not. For example I live in Orlando Florida right now and I would tell people to avoid areas like Belle isle or certain parts of OBT. If anyone can give me examples of where to go and not to go that would be great

Thinking about relocating

I know that most people don't like to hear that someone wants to move to their city, but I have lived in a stink hole for 10 years and I am ready to see the seasons again. I am waiting to finish my bachelors degree before I make a move but do you have pros and cons of the city or maybe good bad areas? just want to talk about it

Anybody know if someplace is doing a Thanksgiving brunch buffet? The Airport Hilton restaurant is already fully booked. I asked on r/knoxville but the mods removed my post for some reason.

Best Veterinarian in Blount County for Bulldog Breeds?

Hi there!

We are adopting a purebred AKC English bulldog pup, and would like to know the best vets for bully breeds in Blount County. With our previous bully (American Bulldog), we took her to Maryville Small Animal. They are nice, and understood her unique health issues, but I want to see if any other vets in the area are recommended.

Thanks!

Smith & Wesson moving their HQ to Maryville

750 jobs, 125 million. First not one but THREE Amazon facilities in our county, now this. Business is good, but now we gotta have more police, more hospital, more fire trucks, more schools, more roads, more everything. More, more more!

I thought our small town was pretty nice like it was.

The interstate 140 extension.

Geetings folks. I have cycled more than 100000 miles all over the United States. I also drink too much coffee which means I have examined more bridges than any department of transportation official. Many of those bridges have already technically failed. That is one bearing has already rusted through which places more stress on the others. There will be more serious failures. When this happens department of transportation officials are required to create a detour route and fix the bridge. Now I have no opinion on wether Interstate 140 should be extended. I do know they will start the process and will be called away to fix more serious matters. Tennessee will have roads fall down the sides of mountains. Some of them are already one lane in places. I have dealt with TDOT many times. It takes them 2 years to respond to an email. The states is broke. I understand that. I'm not here to cause you problems or to add to TDOT's workload. Though I am capable of it. By the way may fathers patents in control engineering have made Alcoa the company more than one billion dollars. His name was Everett some of you may have met him.

Best Place for Tire Service

I need a tire rotation and a tire pressure sensor changed on one of my tires. Firestone just quoted tire pressure service at almost $200 with diagnostics and parts. Are there better options in the area?

Edit: Thanks, everyone! I went over to Discount Tire and got the work I needed to be done. It was a little pricey, but the customer service and quality of work were absolutely top-notch! Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely be back.

are there any child disappearances since 1970?

I live just off of singleton station, and my dad saw something about 6 months ago that left him spooked. he saw a little girl in a red dress just outside of our gated yard, and there was no way she could've come up from behind because it's a 7-8 foot drop behind there, is there any serious explanation for this?

Remember to be kind and patient with your healthcare workers…

This includes hospitals, clinics, and urgent care facilities. Some if not most of these places are short staffed so the staff they do have are doing their very best! Make today an amazing day!
