Hi everyone! My name is Michal, and I am a senior at Syracuse University right now studying business. I’m also a fellow Marylander!!! For my senior capstone class, we have to generate a business idea and my team is trying to create a hiking app. Our goal is to create an app that has accurate information in order to make hiking safer and more accessible through real time information. We would greatly appreciate it if you would fill out this quick survey so we could accurately understand the current market and what customer needs are! If this is not something I can post in this group, please let me know:) Thank you!
i’ve been slowly preparing myself for my first ever solo backpacking trip at patapsco valley state park. but i’m not really sure what trails to take, or if there are any designated backpacking trails in specific. i mainly just need help on what trail to take!
Where is a great spot to camp at green ridge with a great view or creek near by? Primitive spots only please.
Any suggestions for free tent camping in or near Cedarville state forest? Thanks all!!
My friends and I (all 17) were looking to go camping for a few days this summer. It seems like every campsite requires someone to be 18 or older in order to reserve it. But searching for a campsite through the Maryland.gov website, I saw a "youth group" filter option. Does anyone know what this option means?
Going camping at Assategue, now I don't know if it's the state park portion or the national park. I have been camping many times in wooded areas, what is it like camping here? do i need sand anchors for my tent or is there forested areas as well? Any recommendations are welcome.
Hey all, I'll be going camping for the 4th of July and my birthday. I was trying to look for some fun things to do in the area. I saw that there is a shooting range nearby so that is one thing I am looking forward to. I will be camping with my 3 friends (30+) and 2 kids (12 and 2). So if y'all are able to recommend some things to do especially if there are some locally owned food spots and goods/services I would greatly appreciate it!
Oh and some good places to watch fireworks! Thanks!
Around now where would someone recommend parks and campgrounds around the north east areas of Maryland for tents and around a week. Just a place to be, unwind, rest, reflect alone, etc. few bugs ticks etc lol. thanks!
have two days between AC and WDC.. what to do?
I'm planning a camping trip this July for my family and several friends and would like some advice for campgrounds. Here are my requirements:
Enough space for at least 11 adults, 6 children (5 yo and under), and at least 1 dog. This can be all in 1 campsite, or in multiple sites at the same campground. Either is fine.
We're all prepared for tent camping, so we don't need cabins or anything, but we're willing to entertain that if we find a good site with cabins.
We'd prefer a toilet for the little ones, but it's not 100% necessary.
This will be a weekend trip, arriving Friday afternoon/evening and leaving Sunday.
We'd prefer NOT to have a body of water right next to the campsites. We have a bunch of small kids and don't want to worry about them and water. A lake/river/etc to walk to is fine, but not right at the campsites.
Must allow campfires
Must allow pets
Must be able to drive up to the campsite. We'd prefer to leave our vehicles right with us, but if we can at least pull up to unload and leave one car with us, we can deal with a remote parking spot for the rest.
We'd prefer NOT a State/National Park. They don't allow alcohol and we're going to want to have some drinks. We're not going to be raging all night. We're all mid-to-late 30s and we'll have a bunch of kids with us, but we'll have some beers and I know that's strictly prohibited at state/national parks.
Any suggestions, especially with links, would be awesome. I live in Montgomery County and several of the others who are coming live in Baltimore. We'd prefer 2-3 hour drive at the most, but will explore options farther away if they sound good.
I’m planning a camping trip with some friends that live in Philadelphia, and I live in DC. We’re looking for a decent place to tent camp and hike for a weekend that doesn’t require more than a few hours of driving for each of us. Does anyone have recommendations? Dog-friendly preferred!
I'm having a hard time finding somewhere where I can bring my dog camping and also hike around the area, would anyone have any that they recommend? Thanks in advance!
Does anyone have any winter camping sites to recommend? A lot of KOA sites seem to be closed. I’m only interested in tent-camping; any amenities like plumbing are optional.
Hello,
I was wondering if there are any hikes at Patapsco that take you up high so that you can see a nice view above the trees?
thank you
Does anyone have any suggestions for campgrounds that allow fires? I don’t want a site with platforms, and if possible then I’d like a more secluded site.
Hi everyone! Looking for advice on somewhere to take my 8 year old nephew camping for his first time. They love in Harford County, so ideally something not too far away in case it goes terribly wrong for some reason.
I haven't canlwsntoo much in MD so I'm not sure. How's the camping at Patapsco State Park? That's the only place I've been able to think of. Do they have camping in Rocks State Park?
Any recommendations for spot number to try and snag?
Looking to go backpacking for a 2-3 day trip with some friends. I am located on Worcester county and would like to minimize the amount of driving. Only requirements are trees for hanging hammocks and freshwater that can be filtered for replenishment. Anyone know of a good spot?
Cant seem to find anything online or in here? Any suggestions?
Hi All! Getting back into the good ol outdoors lately, finally! I am trying to start jumping around Maryland (Montgomery County based) to a bunch of campgrounds/dispersed camping areas (Open to Suggestions!). I want to mostly fish during the day, I am cool with catch and release areas if need be.
What kind of tackle should I bring? I fish the ocean so fresh water is very new to me. I am thinking a telescopic spinning rod, but no idea which lures to get. Let me know if I need to give more information. Thanks!
