The Mars Society is the world's largest and most influential space advocacy organization dedicated to the human exploration and settlement of the planet Mars. Established by Dr. Robert Zubrin and others in 1998, the group works to educate the public, the media and the government on the benefits of exploring Mars and creating a permanent human presence on the Red Planet.

“You have potentially a high-level senior adviser in the person who owns the largest and most capable private space company in the world, with a direct line to the president of the United States, pitching a Mars mission in four years,” Casey Dreier, the chief of space policy at the Planetary Society, who has written extensively about the politics of America’s moon and Mars efforts, told me. “We don’t have historical examples of that.”

As I wrote last week on social media: "At a campaign rally where promises are frequently made and rarely kept, Donald Trump said he would land an American astronaut on Mars. NO! NO! NO! Not acceptable.
What The Mars Society proposes is far more ambitious and bolder than simply landing an American astronaut or two for a brief visit to the Red Planet. We propose sending significant contingents of women and men astronauts/explorers who will establish a permanent Mars scientific settlement. Nothing else will do. We will not be content to rely on election campaign promises. We will not relax our push for the direct human settlement of Mars no matter who is elected President of the United States in the upcoming election."
That's my personal opinion and take on where we go from here with our international campaign to send human explorers to Mars after yesterday's election in the United States.

Has anyone on this thread talked about what living would be like on mars? Like are we all supposed to rent a room? Bring a pod? Or just sleep on the red sand?
