I am planning on attending Mardi Gras and wanted some tips on how long we should stay for before Fat Tuesday? And what are the names of the hotels on Bourbon St with balconies? Thanks in advance for any advice
Hi all,
I lived in New Orleans for 9 years (2002-2006 and 2008-2013) and have continued going to Mardi Gras since leaving. I've always watched the parades Uptown, everywhere from Lee Circle (too crowded) to Napoleon (also too crowded). We've always managed to find spots along the Uptown route that were a little less mobbed.
The past few years we've gone the "family weekend" to Mardi Gras (the weekend before the weekend before Fat Tuesday). We are considering staying in the CBD/Warehouse district, closer to the end of the parade route. I'm worried, however, that even if we stay away from Lee Circle and Canal, this area will be more crowded because of all the hotels. Has anyone had any luck watching along this part of the route? Thanks for any advice you can send my way!
I'm planning to go to Mardi Gras 2025 with some friends. Any tips for someone who just wants to party? I'm trying to disappoint my parents and have the time of my life. Which parades are best for that? Any spots we should check out? I'm thinking we'll be there the weekend before Fat Tuesday till the next day
So my 30th birthday is March 4th 2025 and I'm thinking of going to mardi gras in New Orleans. I've never been or know anyone that has but I think it would be a fun way to celebrate. I'm wonder how many days I should spend there, I was thinking maybe the 28th-6th or is that too long? Any help is appreciated
So I’m going down to Mardi Gras next year in March and I’m wondering any tips/tricks to get through it all? Also outfit ideas lol
The term "Mardi Gras" might refer to Festivals in various countries. It's not a term specific to any one place, unless I'm mistaken.
Is there a term that specifically mean the New Orleans version of Mardi Gras?

Currently floating around at the Aquarium of the Americas but don’t be surprised if they are caught in the current by the sea of people on Canal and dragged into flotsam of Bourbon, the Quarter and Frenchmen. Careful you’re not snagged. This is your only warning.

Rumor has it among my Orpheus-riding friends that a billionaire purchased a “space station” themed float, but they don’t know who. Anyone else heard this? Any ideas?
I want to catch both parades tomorrow. I think we are considering Girod and St. Charles area. Does anyone know what time Rex would make it to that area?
