Actually, generally, I would like to know if there is a way to express to someone who is dear to me just how much they are! I’ve been expressing to them in my own languages, but not theirs, and I’m not sure where to find resources for Mapudungun.

hola, estaba haciendo un trabajo para mi escuela y este incluía que debía poner una seria de nombres o apellidos de origen mapuche y que tenia que poner su respectiva definición; y ay fue cuando se me ocurrió buscar mi propio apellido "Collio" (tenia entendido que significaba collar de perlas pero por lo que estaba investigando, no es así) así que si hubiera alguien que supiera la traducción o el significado de este apellido seria de mucha ayuda, gracias

Hi! We are the bookpirates from Luebeck (northern Germany). We had the idea, that every child should have access to books in its mother tongue, because too many children aren't able to get books in their native language. Especially when a language has very few speakers like Mapudungun has. So we created a database where you can download bilingual picturebooks for free in many language combinations (the books are translated by volunteers and you can combine the languages however you need them).

We would be so happy to offer the books in Mapudungun, too. But at this Moment we didn't find poeple who speak this language and want to translate. For this reason we are looking for people who could help us translating short stories from english (or german, or spanish, or french... and so on) into Mapudungun. So maybe you are interested? Vivo en Australia, y estoy usando los videos en youtube para aprender un poco pero necesito classes mar formales para aprender la lengua de mis abuelos.

Hace unos años estaba el proyecto o idea de oficializarlo en la Araucanía y desde entonces lo he visto mucho más presente en edificios públicos incluso en Santiago (que es donde vivo, no vivo en la Araucanía) pero no sé qué pasó con eso. Hay funcionarios públicos que hablen mapudungún en Temuco para ayudar a una señora a hacer trámites? Le enseñan mapudungún a los niños en la escuela?

Hello my name is Xefjord and I run a project where I am trying to create free language learning resources to teach every single known living language to a survival level. I would like to support Mapudungun but have been unable to find any Mapudungun speakers who might be willing to help.

The project job consists of translating 200 words and phrases hand picked to help learners reach the survival level on a Google Sheets document. After this is done (It normally only takes translators roughly 1-2 hours max) the language is locked in and added to a poll that members of the Xefjord's Complete Languages community can vote on that is weighted to give more power to languages with a smaller number of speakers. When the language wins the poll (All of them will eventually be covered) the language is turned into a free Anki deck with pictures and audio for every card that I upload on my discord server and various other places online for free educational use.

I want anyone wanting to learn Mapudungun to be able to do so freely and with a standardized high quality resource such as Anki can provide. I hope that this makes the language and culture more accessible while also raising the standards of free language education :)
