A place for discussion and photos of glass containing manganese. Not quite as flashy as uranium glass, but beautiful in its own way.

Black Marbles under 365 - found in my yard

So... we've found a bunch of these smallish black marbles in our yard, but today I happened to shine a 365 blacklight on them and... whoa! Didn't expect this!
Edited to add... they fluoresce under both 365 and 395.

What is the blue glass under 365nm light?

I don't know where else to ask so I added manganesse glass for reference. I bought these jars from micheles and they say they are glass but dang that looks like plastic for how brightly it glows.
