Not a fan of mass movies and thrillers. Do we have more rom-coms like Premalu on production/coming up?
Sorry if this is not allowed, but really need help! What is the instrument that comes in at 0:56? Is it nadaswaram or something else?
I have been in this sub for few years and I learnt one thing that is how ever good a film is there will always be people who find it mediocre or bad. Film is definitely subjective it will definitely depend on the person who enjoys it. I'm a person who likes and enjoys all sorts of films. I enjoy Goat directors such as satyajit ray, Alfred Hitchcock, QT, Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick ,Akira Kurosawa,Ingmar Bergman, Padmarajan, Adoor Gopalakrishnan and also the new wave best ones also. Along with this I also watch movies from Omar ikka, Ukri , and so on and also I find it interesting. I don't know how to review or approach movies like most people in this sub! I found you guys really over whelming when it comes to scrutiny.
I sometimes wonder if this mediocre comments or threads to a really good movie are for the sake of upvotes. After all whom am I to judge.
Coming to this thread Lucifer is one movie i really was blown away with, i re-watch it sometimes, I have watched mass movies way better than it. But a top action movie in my own native language is something else of an experience. I really want to know how you guys feel about Lucifer.
Ps: I have read the review and unpopular opinion thread about Lucifer. And it was not complete 😂.
Just had this random thought last night,
If The Mask was done by FAFAA and Aavesham was done by Jim Carrey.
Sucha crazy thought, I know 😂
Comment below other actors and movies you'd like to swap in your mind for the resam of it. It could be between any industries. No limited to Hollywood n Mollywood.
I mostly enjoy watching fight scenes from Hollywood because of very tiny details and the sound effects etc
For me, to enjoy fight scenes from Malayalam movies, I must watch it in Theaters.
When I watch a Malayalam movie in my laptop and the fight scene come I usually fast forward it. There are some exceptions like Varathan, 18aam padi( Bus fight), Pepe fights etc.
Today I watched Anchakkallakokkan and man the fight scenes were a blast! Especially the shappu fight with the song and the camera movement it was amazing! Those dance moves in between the fight it was outstanding. At first I was hesitant to watch the movie but I was wrong.
Is there any underrated fight scenes in Malayalam movies which I must watch? Comment your opinion.
I am kinda tired of seeing multiple posts everyday talking about “is X the best album/soundtrack” by Y” or “ which do you think is the best album by X” etc
I’m here for the discussion on movies. Can we move the music related, especially the mudic posts trying to evoke nostalgia, discussions onto a different sub?
I’m probably going to get downvoted for this. But feel like I have to atleast bring this up
I think it would be interesting interaction between ranga annan & gang and Wazeem & gang!
I just finished watching Pranchiyettan & the Saint. Ikka abhinayicha ella padangalil idaano adhehathinte ettavum mikachchu abhinayam?
Anyway, I cannot help but think about the similarities between Pranchiyettan and Ranga from Avesham. Both could not finish school. Both had a regret about it. Both value loyalty and trust. Both get extremely disappointed when they are cheated. Both are generous.
itu sheri aanallo.

Just wanted to know everyone's opinion on how the consumption of alcohol, tobacco products, and recreational drugs depicted in movies affected your perspective on such items.
At a very young age, after seeing some great movies of my favorite actors, I found it cool and remember making up my mind to definitely try it in the future. I believe this may be the mindset of many young impressionable minds too.
The impact that movies and actors have on our minds is much more than what we know; especially in Kerala, where our lives and pop culture heavily overlap. There are enough medical articles that show how movies glamorizing recreational drugs/smoking have led more youngsters to experiment with it eventually.
I'm aware this isn't a new phenomenon and has always been there. But my main intention behind writing this is because a few school kids were discussing how the lead actor of a recent superhit movie looked cool while smoking and partying, and that they should also try it soon. Even though a warning message is displayed during such scenes, nobody pays attention to it. Its easy for me to say all this, but there is no definitive solution, other than creating awareness or ensuring stricter viewer discretion.
{{[Disclaimer: The movie is technically good and offered a great theatrical experience. I saw this movie with my family, and all of us are doctors. They also felt the same way and were shocked to see the blatant portrayal of characters consuming alcohol and smoking. Kindly do not misunderstand my apprehension as I'm pointing this issue out in good faith, as a genuine concern. We all love the lead actor and the entire film fraternity.
But much beyond entertainment; popularity comes with a certain level of accountability and responsibility too. I'm not trying to do virtue signaling. None of us is perfect. Everyone has their indulgences and are free to make informed decisions.
There are countless reasons why people go down the dangerous road of addiction. It all starts with one drink/drag/puff to an endless journey. Trying to imitate your favorite superstar shouldn't be a reason for you to go down that path. I personally know many patients who wish they hadn't succumbed to peer pressure and consumed their first drink.]}}
What does everyone feel about this? Am I overlooking the issue? Did you think it's inevitable considering where we are headed as a society? Feel free to provide your valuable feedback.
I'm curious about how seeing alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drugs being consumed in movies has influenced everyone's perspective on these substances, especially from the POV of non-users.
For example, what are your honest thoughts when seeing your favorite actor smoking in the movie?
Lot of big names are associating it seems - Mani Ratnam,Rajeev Ravi,Sreekar Prasad.Read about many Internatonal accolades too !
I remember seeing a video by Director Akhil Sathyan in youtube (I'm thinking it was his channel). After premalu got released in theatres.
The video was about Naslen and his acting. Akhil was explaining using BTS from the movie Makal (Akhil was the AD under his father for the movie).
The specific scene was, Naslen thinking the girls in the cafe were talking about him but they were talking about the guy with him.
I'm not able to find the video. Did he remove the video? If anybody finds do provide the link
Akhil sathyan's YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@AkhilSathyan?feature=shared
Or did I see it somewhere else? Its not there in this channel though!
Most movies in kerala which promoted as family and kid friendly is garbage, why the standard so low. everytime i hear this i know its full of cringe, outdated filmmaking and some boomer ideas
Why does Ranga speaks in Kannada mixed broken Malayalam even though he is a malayali?.He's 46 years old as per driving licence and guessing he moved to Bangalore even in his 20s,he would have known fluent Malayalam that could have been used easily for communicating with Amban and the lead boys.
Has Dileep worked on movies in any other language? If not, any one knows has he given any statements in any interviews or something explaining why he hasn't?
I was full on the hype train for Malayalam movies loved premalu like loved loved it, expected it to be the same for aavesham, I don't know what i expected but definitely not this, maybe not the movie for me but found it absolutely mid or even boring. I'm going to just re-watch premalu to recover.
PS: Not a malayali and watched it with subtitles, looks like people got triggered oh well, also for people who are asking what did i expect I don't know i expected it to be good and didn't connect with anything in the movie, everything felt too over the top, absolutely love the cope that someone can't have a different opinion they must be a paid troll
