my boyfriend has been making and sewing his own clothes for a while and now wants to get into making latex clothing as well. christmas is coming up and i wanted to help him since he’s barely been able to find any resources on the process or material, and i came across sian-kate mooney’s book “making latex clothes”. a lot of reviews said that its patterns are pretty old school and somewhat rudimentary (like a simple jacket or shirt instead of a catsuit), but that the actual techniques and tips are well described and helpful. it’s pretty pricy considering i just got him another expensive gift, but i’d be willing to get it if others thought it would be helpful??
as someone not at all familiar with the craft besides wearing it or polishing it, i don’t know if i should get it for him? if anyone has the book did you find it useful, or are there any other books/resources you would recommend?
thank you <3
I’ve been a latex clothing maker for about ten years now. I have been using rubber cement and thinner/solvent but am getting increasingly concerned about the toxicity of these chemicals and their prolonged use. Have any other makers tested other glues? I am looking into Aquilim 315 as an option to try but am curious about what solutions others have found.
Hello rubbery friends, I thought I'd share a link to my latex pattern shop ^_^
All from my early years as a wee designer. More patterns being added in a few weeks.
Enjoy!
My husbee made this beautiful latex top for me <3 it's perfect and so is he :) uncured, not shined yet, will show final looks when done!
This is my first time working with latex ans I'm making something similar to this dress but I wanted to add a proper cup with and underwire. Does anyone have any tips or tutorials on how I can insert one? Also, if it would be easier to add a zipper to manage getting in and out of the dress?
